Yea, good luck getting them to teach you that kind of stuff in republican run states when they won't even teach you the real history of the USA, black history, or let you read books on the holocaust. In other words, education has turned into nothing more than a beginners tutorial on how to force mass propaganda on the population.

I'm am a highly insulin resistant type2 diabetic I only eat avocados, olives and organic strawberries when in season. Any other fruits send my glucose levels soaring. Eliminating fruits, higher carb vegetable and starches (ketovore way of eating) has permitted me to lose weight and come off if insulin injections. I am proof that severe insulin resistance can be improved through dietary changes.

@@captainadams7569 We only need glucose, and that we can make ourselves. You don't need to consume it to have it. You'd be perfectly healthy with a 0% sugar diet. Most of the body can actually run on fat/ketones, and that's a better energy source. But for the parts that require glucose, the body would simply convert some fat to glucose. "Sugar" btw isn't just glucose. It includes fructose, a liver poison we have no reason to consume unless we're starving to death.

I’ve also trusted your apparently well-researched findings and subsequent nutrition recommendations…which have been (personally) much appreciated. I’m also aware how much time and genuine effort you must be devoting to this great service, on our behalf. But I’ve just seen an old video lecture of yours, where you are using “Applied Kinesiology” methods on a volunteer. I must be honest and say it has come as a bit of a surprise to put it mildly. I thought this muscle strength / diagnostic “tool” had been totally discredited years ago? I’ve always considered you to have a very logical and scientific brain. That is why I will continue to watch your weekly videos. But have I been naive?

You shouldn’t look at food items in isolation like this as they metabolise differently in combination with each other. For example, add some Greek yoghurt to your fruit - it will flatten the glucose curve from the fruit considerably. Also, if you eat fruit (or any other carbs) after a fibre/protein rich meal - the spike from the carbs will be much smaller. You can also go for a brisk walk right after eating - no spike even following a carb heavy meal! I’ve checked this with a glucose monitor - and that’s coming from someone with a compromised glucose metabolism! Read the book Glucose Revolution. You don’t need to cut out all the foods you love - there are some simple tricks you can use to avoid those spikes. Ps. The only things you need to give up is highly processed foods and added/ refined sugar!

Disagree. A few spoons of fruit seem innocent but they've been bred to be extremely sweet and we've been bred to gorge on only the sweetest, a bad combination. I now prefer plain yogurt, no need for sugar-fruit contamination any more.

Maqui berry should be one of the best fruits for diabetics to eat. Studies have found that maqui berry extract prevents blood sugar from rising, when taken before a meal; due to the delphinidums in the maqui berries. Green, unripe bananas are also one of the best fruits for diabetics. The resistant starch in green, unripe bananas hasn't converted to sugar yet. So it resists digestion in the small intestine (thereby preventing a rise in blood sugar), and then it feeds the beneficial bacteria in the large intestine. And the beneficial bacteria in the gut then help to control your blood sugar.

10 years ago I found out the hard way that I’m a type 1 diabetic. Was at work when I had a massive heart attack and went into arrest in the ambulance. Had emergency angioplasty and it was while recovering in hospital that I was given the news. I had all the classic symptoms but was in denial. I was 46 at the time. 10 years on and many thousands of injections later and I’m still soldiering on. Had quite a few hypos but have been able to cope with them. My lowest glucose reading was 1.6 mmol and was surprised I was still conscious. Have severe neuropathy in my legs and feet but my circulation is still good. Chin up to all the newly diagnosed type 1s out there. It’s not the end of the world.

I had used the Lakanto monk fruit for about a year, but just recently read on one of the medical sites that it has been linked to possible strokes; so I switched to the Whey Low about a month ago. I'm endeavoring to lower my a1C which at present is 6.1 which means I'm pre-diabetic. I only learned about pre-diatbetes, etc. from viewing your presentations. I would appreciate your advice and thank you in advance.

As always, good and concise information that we can use to help improve our health. But has anyone noticed / mentioned Dr Sten's reverse writing abilities? I can read upside-down (very good when on the other side of the desk from someone with your files, such as doctor, nurse, lawyer, interviewer, etc.) but writing on-the-fly in mirror image so that it can be viewed by us in this way is definitely a sign of someone with superior mental abilities ;-)

Thanks for this. A lot of information. I watch your videos regularly and am a subscriber. Overall, I keep my blood sugar around 110-130 and sometimes after a large meal I see it jump way up to around 190-200. What I cannot understand though is why sometimes, for no reason that I can figure out, it drops... precipitously, sometimes to 50-60... Usually in the afternoon and sometimes right after I exercise (which that part I do understand) but often it will drop for no reason in the middle of the day.

@drekberg just want to say thank you for what you are doing. i have learned more about my diabetes and how the diet i eat is slowly killing me by watching your videos than i have from being under the doctors in my country for the last 15 years. god only knows how much damage has been caused to my body in the years that i have been mislead and confused by the advice i have been given by those that are supposed to be helping me. I have really struggled to understand why no matter what i have done using the advice from the doctors, my diabetes has been up and down and totally out of control for years. i am able to understand far clearer the things i need to change to get my diabetes under control. i have begun eating leafy greens and avocado as part of my staple diet. im eating the naturally fatty meats and have removed bread, pasta and rice almost completely and i am monitoring the difference in my blood glucose to see how much of a difference these changes are making. i can tell you that my average glucose levels have dropped from just over 17mmol to 5.7mmol within a week of making these changes.. I would love to get a diet sheet from you to help me to create meals that are going to help me, but right now i am just trying to do this by watching the videos. thank you again for your informative videos.

Dr. Sten Ekberg: your scholarly videos on relevant subjects are matchless. Millions of people are benefiting from your this great work. In these comments, my point is: we have been told by all Keto experts from decades that Ketones are better efficient fuel than carb, and ketones are accepted by brain even without barrier but I was reading a book "Unlocking the Keto Code" which is authored by well-known Dr. Steven R. Gundry. I do hope: you too have already read this book. Dr. Steven R. Gundry argues in his book that Ketones are not a good fuel but ketones help us in another ways, which is: ketones decouple Mitochondria, and then some portion of energy is wasted. Instead of converting excessive energy into fat (which is cause of gaining weight), Mitochondria wastes its some portion, and then weight of person goes down. According to him, in this situation, Mitochondria creates more other Mitochondria in cell, and body becomes efficient. Dr. Steven R. Gundry also tends to show in his book that carb are better fuel than Ketones, and nothing is wrong in eating carbs. He says: Important is to keep eating windows tight. I appreciate, if you can spare some time, and upload your new video which discusses this whole subject in the light of Dr. Steven R. Gundry's book "Unlocking the Keto Code" - thanks

My wife is pregnant and was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. We asked her doctor about going low carb, and they said it would not help her reduce her blood sugars, and that she must take Metmorfin. The doctor said that the reason why her blood sugars would not go down even if she went low carb is due to her placenta producing hormones. What is your take on that, Dr Ekberg?

You are sp right in so many ways. However most bread has excess added sugar. Subway "breads" used to make their sandwiches is so high in excess sugar it is officially designated as CAKE in Ireland. All the breads sold with burgers (for instance) also have excess sugar way in excess of what might be needed to activate yeast. Most main produced breads no longer have any yeast added they use pure enzymes and need no suhar added at all.
