Y’all I apologize I had a lot of numbers on my mind.. Correct numbers for the Lift are 9,5,-2,1.5 and the correct numbers for the fuse are 5,6,-1,0

Fuse!! ❤️🤘
The Westside Underworld is a dope disc. Very dome top and has a beautiful flight when you hit your line.

It's in their starter set and it's the one I've bought the most for friends since it has the best balance of understable discs.
I would say the Westside Maiden is a great entry disc. It is categorized as a putt approach but I find it more of a straight mid and a great one disc round disc.
I am playing discgolf for 2 years and 2 weeks ago I bought Discmania Essence. It is bomber. I don't know why I was trying to throw 12 speed discs. Essence flies furthest from my bag and I just love this disc
The Escape from Dynamic Discs was my first fairway driver that I could through over 250 ft!

Yup, someone recommended me to get one after I played my first tournament without anything over a 7-speed in the bag. Great first 9-speed to learn on.
Some others i would consider: L64 River - easy for even slow arm speeds to flip up at lighter weights Mint Lobster - Takes almost no power to get this mid to fly on whatever line you put it on

Leopard 3. Buzzz. Judge.
Need to add the Latitude 64 Pure down here in the comment section. Truly one of the best discs out on the market. It comes in a WIDE variety of plastics, is great as a putting putter and an excellent throwing/driving putter. Can always find them at local retailers and online. It is a mold that has been in production for 12+ years and doesn't look to be leaving anytime soon as well. Retro, Eco and Zero Line tend to beat in a little quicker than the premium lines such as Gold and Opto. Over the years they have come out with several different blends of Zero, Gold and Opto and have just recently started releasing discs in the "Ice" line(i.e. Gold-ICE, Opto-ICE), I can see the Pure being a mold with one of these plastic blends in the near future.
Good selection! I would have chosen the Drift before the Lift. The Underworld and Maul are exceptional discs as well.
Y’all should review the axiom crave and insanity on your disc review channel

Great video! I would also add the Latitude 64 Easy to Throw series: Diamond, Jade, and Sapphire.
Hardest fairway to hit in discgolf? Haha 😄 Love the essance definitely deserves top 3 for newer players. Think the mantis deserves a top 10 spot too.

My favorite easy to throw discs for mid ranges are the truth and bounty from DD.
Been watching you guys so long I would have never guessed you weren't at 20k yet. When you talked abut the 20k giveaway I thought I had heard you wrong. You'll get there in no time, you guys do good work. The Soda may not have any flashing issues due to the rounded rim but I bought a first run Ginger that could cut diamonds with how sharp the flashing was on it. That Jonathan Fuse is hilarious. I'm glad they've done so well him and Latitude. His videos are always entertaining.

Thank you for the kind words! Sorry to hear about that ginger!
I just started playing recently, and I grabbed a Buzz yoday. This is the first disc that's made sense for me. Even when I mess up its easy to tell exactly what I did wrong, and I feel like it's comfortable for almost any throw! Absolutely perfect beginner disc, thanks for the recommendation guys!
MVP Hex…great disc
Kastaplast Stig! Really revolutionized my game when I got it. Super controllable and easy distance
Diamond is the best beginner/intermediate disc. After a few good tree hit it's very understable. it's the first disc I learned to hyzer flip. It's 2 years later a disc that I love because it's just so easy to throw, you can power down with it and it will glide super far, you can throw it high on a hyzer and it will still turn flat. It's a disc that basically is just free distance for a beginner, and is a cool utility disc when you're a bit more experienced. Love it for steeper uphills or just very narrow gaps. The only gripe I have with it, it doesn't come in glow, and now in the north when the sun is setting earlier and earlier, I prefer to only have glow in my bag, especially for drivers.
@Kriss_941

I can not and have never been able to throw the diamond, it's just far too understable. I haven't tried the max weight runs of it so those might be ok, but the usual 160(ish) gram ones just crash and burn for me. I think it's easy to just recommend the most understable shit to beginners because for most beginners that's probably gonna net the most distance, but for someone like me who came from an athletic background having played handball for over a decade I could never use a disc like the diamond... My (now) ex had one and I tried throwing it a couple times, but yeah, didn't work out that well.
@ohmgstav
Жыл бұрын
@@Kriss_941 not cool man, don't call a disc shit just because you can't use it. Maybe you have off axis torque in your throws, maybe you don't put enough spin on it, maybe you're trying to push it too hard, maybe you've thrown a lighter disc into headwinds too strong for it. Plain and simple, just because you haven't found the right use for it, doesn't mean it's shit. There's a bunch of potential reasons why it's not working out for you, but you being too good for the disc is not one of them, if anything that just means you lack finesse.
@Kriss_941
Жыл бұрын
@@ohmgstav I didn't mean the disc itself was shit... When I said "It's easy to just recommend the most understable shit" you could have replaced shit with "stuff" or "thing" or even "disc"... It's simply that for those who start out with a good amount of armspeed and decent technique the diamond might just be far too understable.
@ohmgstav
Жыл бұрын
@@Kriss_941 I still disagree with you on that front. If anything I'd say if a beginner already can throw far then they should step down to throwing mids and putters and work on accuracy. Someone who can throw far with little accuracy is dangerous. And if you out of the gate can throw a teebird 300 foot straight with good accuracy, well then you're not really a beginner then. If you're that naturally gifted you're just a savant, and then I'd argue beginners tips do not apply. But for actual beginners, like the people struggling to reach 200 foot I'd certainly say it's a great disc. But even if someone is a savant who can bomb 300 foot on their first throws, I'd still argue it's a useful disc for learning to power down and take it more chill.
@Kriss_941
Жыл бұрын
@@ohmgstav I mean, if you can throw say 250 feet within say week one of starting to play (which is honestly very doable for more athletic people with some experience in sports with skills that can be transferred) then a disc like the diamond won't reallly be that useful, for a player like that I'd much rather recommend a driver like a leopard, valkyrie, maybe an F5. something that is quite understable which they can learn to manipulate the angles with, but still has enough stability to hold up against the armspeed. Yes, throwing putters and mids, might be the most optimal choice for beginners when it comes to learning technique (and hey, that's not a diamond) but I think you also need to keep the fun aspect in mind as well. It's fun to walk up to a long hole and rip it, I will hardly ever play "smart" or "optimal" when playing, unless it's an actual competition because I enjoy ripping it and going big over just playing the smart line which is safe. And I think there is something to be said for keeping it fun. Keeping it fun can also benefit your game in a way through allowing you to throw throws and lines that you'd otherwise never practice. Like if I didn't yeet my discs out of the fairways and into suboptimal positions so much my scramble game wouldn't be as strong as it is. I would never have thrown skamahawks, grenades and thumbers, so those throws wouldn't even be in my arsenal. And this isn't to say that I just full send all over with no accuracy, but it's more that I will rather go big for a very faint eagle chance than play position for a safe birdie if that makes sense. Also I think that even if you're throwing 250' after a week of playing, you're still very much a beginner. Atleast in my eyes being a beginner is tied to how long you've been playing, not your skill. And I may have a little skewed perspective with this shit, I come from an athletic family, all children started playing sports by the age of 6, I started playing organized soccer at the age of 4, me and all my siblings have competed at a pretty high level in handball, and there are alot of things and skills in handball which can be transferred into discgolf. The whole run-up, generating power through your legs and hips, the idea of using your arm as a whip, timing. Sure the throwing motion is different, the run-up is different but alot of the key concepts are the same and you know how it's supposed to feel and work.
Started playing in ‘06. Champ Beast was my first driver and, 17 years later, still one of my favorite utility drivers.
Beginner list BH throwers: 3- Fierce 5 - Hex 6 - Leopard 8 - Breakout 9 - Jade Begginer FH flickers: 1 - Berg is the way 4 - Zone 9 - Escape 10 - Beast
Essence is from my expiriences more stable than "-2 super understable". I can throw with it almost 100 meters still with very small turn. like -0,5 or -1. I should give it probably -1. Still great disc, but not for beginners. For me its super versitale but i play more than 3 years. And when it was new, it was almost my overstable disc! I really like F7 as my understable disc, with looong turn without any fade but also cut roll for about 80 meters. Thats great beginner friendly disc. And now im using Essence for about 2 months, still understable just slightly.
coming out of being a beginner I felt like my champion Valkyrie was the first disc I could really throw well. Beat in it was my go to till I lost It.

I lost my beat in valkyrie this summer, i feel your pain
Westside Underworld as a first fairway or Discmania Genius. Midranges are so many to choose from but I really love Berry from Clash Discs and Hex from Axiom. M4 from Prodigy and Tursas from Westside is also two really good beginner Midranges in my opinion. The new A4 from Prodigy is an approach disc but works godlike as a putter for me. Otherwise my nr 1 putter is Spin from MVP.
I've been playing about 8 months. I love the Latitude 64 River and Truth from Dynamic discs. Will check some of these out too!
Latitude 64° Dimond
I've been playing for a few months now, and the best shots I've ever thrown are with a champion leopard 3.
Dx Leopard or lat64 Diamond are definitely some good ones
The Saint is an excellent choice. It can be utilised up to quite a bit of power and they age beautifully. Also the Fuse is an excellent disc since it is straight to understable, by no means flippy but definately understable.
A disc that has similar numbers is the Westside disc Stag 8/6/-1/2. It has a smaller rim and has great glide
I'm late and I've only been playing for about a year now, and I've probably only thrown around 40 or 50 different molds at this point...but there are a couple of discs that really pushed my game forward that I have to put here. Buzzz SS...y'all nailed that one. I'd also add that it grows with you very well as you gain power and distance, while being forgiving when you're a beginner. Discmania Sensei *in premium plastic* is my throwing putter, one disc round choice. I haven't thrown a Proxy but if y'all haven't thrown the Sensei in premium plastic yet, it flies and feels a lot different than the regular plastic, it fights the wind like a champ and fights torque better than any other putter I've thrown. Innova Leopard in champion plastic was the first disc I got "full flight" hyzer flips with. My beginner DX Leopard beat in too fast and couldn't fight out of a turn anymore as I got faster (and I had no idea what was happening), but the champion Leopard does exactly what I want it to do and like the Buzzz, it has grown with me into the 300 feet range. MVP Terra was my first overmold disc and my first highly overstable disc, completely by accident. It was on sale so I bought it. I haven't thrown a Firebird yet but from the numbers and what people say about it, the Terra does that same thing but in gyro. I learned sidearm, anhyzer flip, and hyzer throws with it, and found out I like overmolds. My putting putter is a Gateway Hemp Wizard, I recommend the Wizard to beginners because Gateway has so many plastic options where you can learn what you like in terms of softness and plastic feel on the same mold.
Gotta recommend the Buzzz SS, Warden, and Heat as some beginner friendly discs. All have great glide and the heat is still my main downwind bomber disc to this day after playing for almost four years now. Great video
I don’t understand why you include so many total shanks in these videos. Just record another throw so we can see how the disc should actually fly if not pulled off to the right.
Proxy in Eclipse is so good. Prefect compliment for the Envy. I think other good discs are the Star Teebird, Axiom Crave, Streamline Drift, Discraft Heat, Discmania Essence to name a few. Basically anything that is stable to slightly understable. Heck even the overstable 4 speeds like the Zone are money once you know the flight pattern as they are so reliable. I think you need to buy a Star Rat and play a round with it. My son bought one and that thing is surprisingly so good.
I have just been using my Mako3 for my putter as well. Good results for me.

Same here. Love my M3
I started with a dx roc3 and champion valkyrie and it served me well, have been throwing some roc3 and rocx3 in champion plastic this summer and its my most reliable shots for sure
Latitude 64 diamond, claymore, and fuse are all great discs for starting out. I also love the westside harp for 150 feet and in. Especially if it’s windy.
I picked up a MVP Glitch the other day. It flies just the way I thought disc golf discs were supposed to fly when I first started playing. I'm having tons of fun throwing this disc and would recommend it to anyone beginning the game. For anyone who is used to throwing a standard frisbee, I think this disc would be a good starting point for throwing disc golf discs.
Discmania and kastaplast are two of my favorite brands to throw and for beginner discs the essence is definitely a top choice. I would also say origin, reko, and I would also throw in the dynasty from infinite!
I started with an Innova shark at 150g. I like things closer to 180 these days but I still bag a shark in premium plastic, the current bag shark is star and I'm thinking about spending the time to hunt down a shark3 in champion.
The Discmania Origin deserves all the love.
The 3 variables are you, the disc, and the wind. When you are starting out, you are going to be very inconsistent, but disc selection can help. Base plastic can beat in so fast that it could be a totally different disc after one round. Premium plastic will beat in slow and be more consistent throw to throw. Light weight discs are more affected by wind, whereas a max weight disc will still be affected by wind, just not as much. So, 175-6g Champion Mako 3 ftw. It will start out over-stable, but as it beats in and as your skill develops, it will get straighter and straighter and never leave your bag. If you can find one in a used bin that's already seasoned that would be great, because then you could pair it up with a new one and learn the difference between a new disc and a seasoned disc.
I just picked up a mako3 today. Im so excited to use it this weekend
I would recommend the Innova Wombat3 to any beginner. It's a super straight midrange that's easy to throw.
The signal was great for me, it's slower and helped me learn how to hyzer flip.
Picked up the Jonathan signature Fuse recently to fill my understable midrange slot and the thing is great... I haven't had time to really beat it in yet, but it's really nice and workable out of the box and I suspect that as I hit a couple more trees it'll become a nice flip-up to turnover disc.
River, Rift, Roc, Pure, Envy are all beginner-friendly discs. As you said, base plastic for more turn, premium for less.
I agree with the mako 3 and I like the envy alot too for my putting and forehand approach shots .
The Ambuis and the Judge are awesome
Lat 64 river is also a great beginner disc!
Axiom insanity is my favorite disk, a 9 speed stable driver that you can shot shape with. I played a lot in my 20s but I'm just getting back in to disc golf 10 years later, so I'm a born again beginner.

Wouldn't the insanity and virus both be understandable? -3.5 and -3 turns. I just picked up the virus. I threw one of my best lines with the insanity today. It did exactly what the numbers said it should. I've only started playing about a month ago. I've still got a whole lot to figure out. Most of my discs are understable. @traviswhitworth6506 yeah don't be afraid of overstable disc, you just have to put some anhyzer on it. Try the Terra and/or the Tesla. You'll get that S turn easier throwing overstable with anhyzer. If you're not yet familiar with hyzer, flat, and anhyzer, there are hundreds of videos on the topic. Overstable disc can also handle the toque of a forehand better.

When the Axiom Rhythm comes out, it's going to be the disc I give all my beginner befriend to throw. 7 5 -3 1 and I absolutely love it. Got mine with the MVP Circuit Challenge Debating on getting a Soda to replace my 156g Relay 😬 and am sooo mad I missed out on the Johnathan Signature Edition Fuse😭😭😭 I want it to replace my Wombat3
Dynamic Disc Judge is a must for beginners. Axiom paradox Latitude 64 River
Trilogy discs are a must I'm fairly new at this around the one year mark. Thrown a lot of plastic. This is not a cheap sport Lol. But I think you need to consider a good starter set . Swan reborn, pure,warship, underworld, and the hatchet. Just my thoughts. Keep it going guys love your content. 👍👍
Plenty great beginner suggestions, so here's some intermediate choices to then learn overstable flights with: Roc FD Valkyrie
I found a light, opto sapphire from Lat 64 and I have loved that disc. Excellent disc for beginners
The westside hatchet

I think a couple of beginner friendly 7 speed discs you could add to this would be the Discmania Genius and the Westside Underworld, as well as adding the 8 speed Latitude 64 Diamond. And the 4 speed super straight and long for beginners Yikun Shu.

What do you think the best speed is?
@markcummings2344
26 күн бұрын
@@ivax7636 Depends on the arm speed. For beginners, I think 8 speed should be max, since some of those options will still serve you well as you advance. The new Trash Panda Ozone is also an 8 speed and a new entry into this category.
Stratosphere
When I was new I got the 5 dx disc starter pack from innova for $50 If I was to start again i legit dont know if I could have done better than that. From there id get a dx sidewinder and a star mako3.
I started with a dagger and a keystone. Dagger was a little stable and keystone was super straight. And they both would glide really well even with my bad form and low speed throws.
I think the River is a great one for beginners
My top recommendation is to pick up one of these (just choose from feel) Innova Manta Discraft Meteor MVP Uplink
Discs to try: Light weight Teebird or regular weight TL solid beginning drivers
Innova Cobra is THE disc that will make you good at shot shaping
Kaxe Z !

Kaxe Z has become one of my most dependable discs, so much so it was the disc I pulled on the 2nd hole of a head-to-head playoff. That's trust.
For backhand I think the meteor is great. For forehand I think the A4 is the best of the best in 500 plastic.
If you’re recommending friendly 9-speeds, the Thought Space Athletics Mantra is fabulous. All kinds of glide and absolutely wonderful for the straight fairway slot!
@Kriss_941

And as you gain more armspeed it becomes a great turnover disc or flip up to straight disc. Takes so little effort and you get such a nice flight out of it.
I would say the best beginner and later putter I have seen so far is the Luna. The guys who got me playing swear by the Luna, and in all my putting practice, it’s one of the most reliably accurate, once I’m on the course, half the baskets seem to almost attract it in its so easy to putt with.
Would definitely suggest the Lone Star disc's lariat if your looking to step up to a neutral 9 speed with a ton of glide
Dx Teebird
Can really recommend the Fuse and Saint
Saint has been pretty good for me as beginner
Overall great list… But I would swap out the river for the Saint in latitude 64
ok so i bomb forehands like easy 350ft-450 if is absolutly nail the line. what do your recommend?
Why do I feel like Reed is struggling to throw all of these "Beginner" discs? haha
Uplink, Leopard, lightweight Diamond
Im not certain that specidic disk selection is as important as telling begnners to stay at speed 7 and below and to use light weight discs. I do love the Mako3 and Buzz SS recommendations, but 150g class at the highest. I would also recommend a Proxy or a Fierce, a Paradox, and a Armadillo or Aviar.
West side discs underworld recommended to male and female players very good disc to throw straight far at first later it will be a very good right turning disc. Underrated for new players my local club knows I am going to recommend it to new players as a result there are many underworlds being thrown in my neck of the woods new players seem to love them.
Have u tried the West side Tursas? Straightest flying disc I’ve thrown so far.
Friendliest 9 speed is the Saint. Under the radar disc and everyone needs an Envy and Star leopard.
Origin. Opto River (7 7 -1 1). G Star Roc3. Justice. Avenger SS. Wraith.
The Innova RoadRunner is a fantastic beginner 9 speed. It'll last a good while in the bag as well.

Definitely going to check out the Essence! I've needed a good 8 speed and you sold me on it. Also wanted to shout out to the Innova Roc for a beginner/intermediate disc... 4/4/0/3. Overstable midrange with tons of glide and a straight shooter that gives so much feed back on how your throw is which allows for tons of shaping and learning your own game. The Roc is the truth.
