I guess you guys didn’t hear the Skullmonkeys Bonus Room or it would of been at least a honorable mention. It’s literally a song about being in a bonus room and he never left us. As for City Themes it’s either City Ecape from Sonic Adventure 2 or Living in The City from Sonic R.

Gradius, Touhou, Power Stone, Street Fighter, and Super Mario World! Here are some of my favorite Bonus Stage themes: "Extra Stage (Sky Swimmer's Heaven)" from TwinBee 3: Poko Poko Daimaou "Bonus Game" from STREET FIGHTER III 2nd IMPACT GIANT ATTACK "The Li'l Bonus Room" from SkullMonkeys "Bonus Game" from Yoshi's Woolly World "Ready ..Go!! !!" from Ristar: The Shooting Star "Slider" from Super Mario 64

I'll add some honorable mentions, the two areas in Super Castlevania 4, one had a ghost of a man and if you destroyed the ghost dog the man would collapse, cry and then disappear. The hidden bonus areas in Gradius 3 is good too, it doesn't sound the same as the featured one in Nemesis.

Good list again. I dig that Lode Runner 3D ‘90s beat. Never heard it before.

My favorite bonus stage theme is donkey Kong country bonus stage and super Mario world, bonus stage and sonic the hedgehog bonus stage and city stage themes excellent choice for the next top 10.

To me, only MD's shadow dancer bonus stage bgm come in mind ... weird yes, but so catchy

For city themes, some of my favorites are Escape from the City from Sonic Adventure 2 (that one is obvious though), Driftveil City from Pokemon Black and White, Metropolis of Fourside from Earthbound, New Donk City: Daytime from Mario Odyssey, London Loop from Mario Kart 8, Daily Bugle from Marvel vs Capcom 3, City from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Genesis), Under the Rotting Pizza from FFVII Remake, Mutants Over Broadway! from TMNT: Shredder's Revenge, When the Moon Reaches for the Stars from Persona 3, Mute City from F-Zero X, and Sacred moon or A Day in Agrabah (both from Kingdom Hearts 2)

Cool Spot MD bonus stage is sorely missing here. It's one of the most pumping track ever made.

Yes such a killer tune. I remember back when I was a kid hooking my Snes through a hifi unit to record the music on cassette, I'm old haha

Genesis SF2 bonus theme, I can see your opinion cause they just jacked up the tempo and timing. Underrated one not mentioned was Zen Intergalactic Ninja NES version

Edited; I don't know why but I prefer the Genesis/Mega Drive version of 6 more. Some of my favorite city themes are The City theme from Biker Mice from Mars for the SNES which is a double whammy since it is oddly familiar to Ridin on the Wind by Judas Priest. Time is Running Out by Cirrus which is the stage theme for Neon City in Twisted Metal 4 and Chasing Insanity from Maximum Carnage.

For city themes, my vote goes to Onett from Earthbound.

Battletoads in battlemaniacs

Balan's Bout was robbed. Whatever you may think of that game there is no denying that the music is amazing, and the bonus stage theme is no exception. I also love the secret stage theme from Battleblock Theater, though I can see how that one might not be for everyone.

Donkey Kong Country is the first game I thought of when I saw "Bonus level themes" and I really dislike the Sonic one, but it could be because I dislike those bonus stages. New Donk City from Mario Odyssey is one of my favorite city themes, though.

My honourable mention would be the soda drinking bonus from Two Crude Dudes/ Crude Buster on Megadrive, it's a short loop of some cheezy jazz haha

WTF, I was seriously expecting S3(&K) Blue Sphere at number 1. Sonic 1 had the boringest special stage theme out of the 2D Sonics IMHO.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles' "Blue Sphere" is still my favorite of the Sonic special stages and has one of my favorite background music. I enjoyed its return and music remix in Sonic Mania.

Usually I am pretty on board with most of these.. but gotta say I strongly disagree with #1 lol. To me I can't stand that particular theme. sounds horrible in my opinion

I figured Sonic had to be in here and figured (the further things went along) it’d probably end up at no. 1 if not the Honorables. But I was heavily expecting _Sonic 2_ because that bonus theme smacks.🫤
