Great list! When you said MegaMan 3, I thought you were gonna say Snake Man at first, but the main theme really drives it home. Good call.

Thanks for including the opening of the Mega Man 3 opening. It grooves like hell and kicks so much ass.

Solid list. You could probably take any of the top 10, honorable mentions included and move them around in any order and it still be justified. The NES has such a large library of games and the music was incredible on so many of them, I don't envy anyone trying to put together at top 10. I actually didn't know they made lyrics for the moon theme from duck tales, that was really interesting.

That moon theme with lyrics brought me to tears.

I didn't know about the Ducktales cartoon lyrics! I've always sang the Brentalfloss Lyrics for that theme "Hey Uncle Scrooge you need a suit out there! How are youuuu alive? You need heat. Also air..." It's a classic :P

Great list, personally the Bionic Commando theme you put in HM would be high on my list love how it encapsulates the feeling of a desperate mission and your the only one who can get the job done.

First time I heard that batman theme I was 4 or 5 and I've never forgot about it

9:12 On Disney's has this song from the episode on its yt channel, and there they credit 4 people, but not Hiroshige Tonomura :(

even more crazy that the Legend of Zelda theme was written at the last minute, because he couldn’t use Bowlero written at the last minute, and one of the most iconic sounds in gaming mystery

It was written so quickly because it was based on a Deep Purple song, which Kondo would have been very familiar with having previously played in a Deep Purple cover band.

@@dalemuir1105 that’s hilarious becuase nobuo uematsu composer of final fantasy is also a huge deep purple fan. The fbattle music for ff7 is definitely inspired by burn. He wanted to be in a rock band lol all the battle music puts his rock organ at center stage funny coincidence maybe deep purple is just that awesome

Recently I've noticed that the Overworld theme from Super Mario Bros. 1 sounds like Good Old Days by Ornette Coleman (a free jazz composition) at 2:58. I mean, those 3 notes are exactly the same! Maybe Mr. Kondo borrowed some inspiration from that song?

Mega Man 2 title screen is top 1 without contest.

Man, the Mega Man 3 title theme is just downright beautiful. To this day, it evokes so many emotions. Naturally, a big part of that is wonderful, comforting nostalgia. As soon as the song kicks off, I can close my eyes and go right back to sitting on the living room floor with my best friend. Pizza, chips, and soda next to us and ready to be devoured. God, take me back!

Great seeing some love for mm3 one of the first few nes games and first mm game I had as a kid always loved playing it

That was my Castlevania suggestion. I knew that with many of these franchises starting on the NES that there would be some tough decisions. Most of the suggestions I made were also covered on newer consoles in franchise related games, but not all of them. Id argue it was a great episode considering the one per franchise rule.
