Tool Review: Dewalt 4-1/2" Atomic Circular Saw
Today we review Dewalt's 4-1/2" Atomic Circular Saw which is part of their 20v platform. We discuss whether it is an essential part of your tool line up or just an optional and "cool" tool to have. We also talk about some the pro's and con's about the saw and compare it to a standard 6" saw.

Bro, loved the video. Honest and true but the outtakes are what made me subscribe. That's real honesty right there. Keep it up. 😁👍🏽

Thanks! I have to review some more stuff!
Very good review. Thanks for taking the time. That was funny at the end.
Very useful for ripping and cross cutting plywood for rough cutting for easier handling for the table saw. I love it!

Kevin Beyersdorf Very useful tool when needed indeed! 👌
Good honest review. As a homeowner and a DIYer, I bought the Worx 4 1/2 saw WX439L few months ago and up until now, haven't used it. To be honest could not find anything that my 7 1/4 Craftsmans circular saw cannot do. Got this Dewalt saw and immediately noticed a huge difference between Worx and this one. Worx saw was easy to handle and light. While Dewalt was front heavy and only a 5 amp battery balanced the tool out. Returning it.
I bought this saw and it is my primary saw for sheet materials. Works great, no issues.
The end made me laugh so good LOL That's family for you. Great video!
I like that you can see the cut awesome.
cool review bro,i really love this tool can't wait to get mine

Nature King Thanks for watching! I really like mine, been using it more than I thought I would. Let me know how you like it once you get it!
I just saw your video. That small circ saw is one of the reasons I like Dewalt. Why? For the past several years I’ve been using the Black & Decker Matrix system around my house - That is the system that you have the base handle and can change out the tools heads from drill to impact to multi-tool, etc., and one of the tools I use the most is the 3-3/8 “trim saw” (as I call it). I have a 7” corded Ryobi circ saw (old enough it’s the old blue color), it’s quite heavy and not balanced at all (I also have a great Bosch Miter saw, 10” table saw and other corded tools). But this little trim saw it fantastic for quick cuts (I am horrible with a hand saw), sheet goods and I have used it to trim the tails off Trek decking. I think for the homeowner/DIYer this is a very handy tool that is easy to use and maneuver. (In fact I used it yesterday to trim some lattice for my garden, a task a larger circ saw would be overkill.) In fact the only time I used my old 7” circ saw in like 5 years was to cut a 2x10x8 in half for a raised bed I was building - That’s it! I wish more tool brands made these because I’m looking to upgrade my old B&D tools and that is something on my short list. (One option for the homeowner though is the newer Skil PwrCore 12v, that a a sweet deal at Lowe’s for a 5.5” circ saw, 4ah battery and their jump charger for $99!). PS: Thanks for your great video!
Excellent Review bro 👍👍👍👍
I have a few saws and I find myself using this alot more then the bigger ones. It's easier to use. And has no problem ripping boards definitely worth a buy.

It’s exactly why i just bought one…for what i need it for it’s just a lot handier than the bigger saw…so i kind of disagree with this guys comments
Well done Frank... I prefer the 6 1/2 myself but I can see some utility for the 4 1/2 ... trimming branches if working on a vineyard, smaller plunge stuff... repetitive plywood cuts.... and that ending was worth a sub by itself lmao!
I’m a home user and have a Festool circular saw. I need a lightweight quick cutter for joints. I don’t have a table saw so I think this should be the perfect solution👌🏼

Great review! Perfect comparison for me, I have the 6-1/2” and I was looking for more portability walking around or up and down on decks etc.

Austin Galloway Yes! And the fact that it can hang on you belt is great!
Thanks for this review! Have you had a chance to use Milwaukee's M12 circular saw? I'd love to hear a comparison if you have.

Tim Butterworth I haven’t, currently using the Dewalt and Festool. Honestly can’t find something that will replace the Festool HKC, it’s an unbelievable tool 👌
Great video, what battery volt is recommended or amps for the 4 1/2 in . Saw (thanks)
Great video, I just bought that saw.

Hi Frank, many thanks for your review. I have three other new dewalt cordless 18v (Europe are badged 18V and not 20v like the US) but do not have a jig saw or circular saws so was looking at the DeWalt DCS571 - I am just a home owner so is it better for me to start with this tool or am I better off getting a dewalt cordless circular saw? Thank again
Hi Frank! Do you think that the compact saw would be able to cut through a bamboo countertop? Or a regular particle-board style countertop?
I love my saw works great better then I'd imagine. The customer was also impressed
Can I use this for cutting wood siding on my house for window replacement?
You can buy battery adapters now. Use Milwaukee tools with dewalt batteries etc.
Hy Frank, tell me please what is the table you are using there. Looks very solid. What is your experience with it? Thank you!

Buen aporte. Saludos cordiales desde Medellín Colombia
I love this atomic saw i have
Thanks for the info! Can I cut with the grain or will I need a different blade? I live in a condo and I'm considering getting this saw just for space saving.

Destiny Dave It has the power to cut any way, but depending on what you are cutting, this might be good. Just consider the depth restriction this has 👌

@@Dangit-Dave try using a diablo blade on your dewalt 4.5 saw.. world of a difference.!!
Hey buddy, thanks for the video. The advantage the 4 1/2 inch saw has over the circular saw you showed is that it's CORDLESS! It's for quick cuts that don't require you to work all day. I'm looking at getting this because the other day I needed to make about 5 cuts through some 1 x 3 strips of wood. I had to drag out my corded 7 1/4 inch SKIL saw to do a 45 second job. No fun. Anyway, good video. I like your camera and especially that you have professional sound gear!
The 4.5 saw works great for cutting the siding for windows....
Perfect saw for decking .
I’m a huge DeWaLt!! Fan!!
Looks good for making kerfs
Thanks for sharing! I'm new with power tools and watching these videos. Lol but, if u could do a demo that would explain to someone who has very little knowledge of any kind of power tool how to use this tool, that would be great. I would really appreciate it.
And then again you favor DeWalt thanks for video God bless.
Lol, don't worry, we know you're a family man, thanks so much, now I know for sure what I need to buy.
If your framing around a window with a king and a Jack studs, that 4-1/2 blade can cut one without touching the other.
Great video, helped me in making a decision to buy or not. Your production value is great in terms of video quality and lighting. I would suggest working on your dialogue. Ah and hum were used too much and kinda drives a view nuts.
Good and honest review. Once you make an guide for the saw, there is not much depth. Regular circular saw is better.
Can you cut 10mm laminate flooring or 8mm vinyl?
@FrankBuilds

erbrooks Definitely has the power, just have to find a fine tooth blade in that size. Would probably stay with using a miter saw
Can you put a grinder blade in it and cut metal?
@FrankBuilds

Homero Gonzalez I’m pretty sure you can but DEWALT actually has a paddle trigger grinder that’s great. I have to look into the metal grinder though a bit closely 👌

Hey Frank, thanks for the insight, brother. I just bought a Rotorazor "Platinum!" I gotta admit I'm a little nervous that I made a bad purchase. I just need something for trim, tile, 1/2" or less for wood. I don't cut 2×4's often. I figured I could just use my miter saw. Gonna put this Rotorazor to the test in the next couple of days. The reviews on it are half and half so I'm gonna put it to the test on porcelain tile and wood. If you could give us your opinion on the Rotorazor, I'd appreciate your time and input. Greetings from San Antonio! Take care and keep safe🤟
Videos good but the icing on the cake 🎂 is the end with the yelling… Yep 👍 it’s going to happen when you got family…LOL 😹
Neither of those two saws are designed to cut 4 x 4’s that’s what the chopsaw is for both are nice and design for plywood 2x4
Outtakes are the best btw😂 real life

Too many umms. Lost me quite quick. Audio edit your roll with room tone and jump cuts if need be. -U10
What's with the sniffles bruh?👀👃
this saw as good as it is too heavy , for one handed operation , dont be fooled by mr muscles whos using it on a bench , if you use the belt hook it will pll your trousers down , sent mine back
This saw is awesome but the blade is absolute shit. If you buy these saw then change the blade, it’ll make you love the saw even more
"I'm going to set the depth so I dont run out of wood". Says the guy with thousands of dollars of tools. I'm starting to think Frank doesnt really build.
