As you get older, you begin to see your life becoming less and less relevant, because each year brings new heartache as you notice the people you grew up with, friends, relatives and of course celebrities becoming frail and in some cases they pass away. This is part of all our lives sadly, it’s just the way things are. Steve Wright was a huge part of my younger self and to know he has gone, well it saddens me greatly. As a young working man in the 80’s, I listened to Steve every day in the factory where I did my apprenticeship. I remember how we would all be in hysterics listening to him and his crew take on the many zany characters that brought tears of laughter to my eyes so often. Then in later years, his afternoon show on BBC2, a ‘slightly’ more matured Steve, but with all the warmth and humour intact. Just a wonderful guy in every sense. I know he was a bit of a tortured soul, as are many who open their hearts so freely and who give so much of themselves to others. I hope he has found peace now, and if there is a god, a heaven, I know Steve will be playing all his favourite hits there for eternity. God bless you Steve Wright.

@deanmartin6052...very very well said. It's like we all have a circle of voices around us that we have grown up with getting us through life and that circle gradually gets smaller and life gets quieter each year. Not sure if this 'getting older' lark is all it's cracked up to be🤔

Your experience of life and Steve Wright mirrors mine. You have captured everything I would have liked to say, but far more eloquently than I could have. I feel privileged to have had over 40 years listening to him, barely missing a single show. A warm, funny and brilliant man that provided the soundtrack to my working life. Even though I never met him, I feel like I’ve lost a lifelong friend 😔.

Devastated! I was employed as a rep, driving round the UK over many years, Steve Wright kept me amused so much . His characters were hilarious, he was imaginative , innovative , never rude or inappropriate. During the 70's, 80's when music was so important and exciting. I always looking forward to hearing him on either Radio 1 & 2. Thanks Steve R.I.P.,

I grew up with Steve on the radio in the afternoon, our school bus driver would have Steve Wright in the afternoon playing every day( 1983/4 the Mr Spoons era.), the show would start as we got on the bus,and we'd all be jigging and bouncing in our seats on our way around the villages doing the drops to the latest tunes.!! RIP Steve, you'll be missed by many. Now the big gig in the sky has got you headlining, spin some tunes up there Steve.❤❤❤

But we didn't have a radio at home , and we where allowed to listen to it all day at work. I and my best friend who is also now past away, used to howl with laughter, I though both these wonderfull funny men where lovely . I now feel I have lost a dear relative who I adored , I woent and don't read the full story of his passing because if I don't listen to full story I can believe he's not left us I am absalutly heart broken to say the very least.
