I saw Tony in concert two years after this interview in Danbury, CT - the reason he came to a small venue at Richter Park I'll leave for another post, but he spoke about it at the end of the concert - and he must have sung 20 songs - pitch perfect, incredible energy and phrasing, and he had two players from Count Basie's band with him. He was 87 at the time and at the absolute top of his game. His latest recordings with Lady Gaga show that all of his genius is still there. God bless him for keeping great music alive - and for the magnificent talent he's given to the world.

@@cedergrenpeterit’s true. Howard is funny and with certain guests he’s a great interviewer but Tony Bennett was a class act and wasn’t feeling it

Met her when she was a teenager on work experience with a company I worked at with her dad ... no idea she would turn out the way she did... your parents shape you growing up and I think that is where it all started to go wrong.

Tony Bennett was picked by no less than entertainment legend Bob Hope to be Anthony Benedetto's stage name. But the trend reflects the prejudice that mainstream White Anglo-American society inflicted on Italian Americans. To be known as Benedetto or Crocetti (Dean Martin's real surname) marked you out as an alien or a less-than
