tom-boley-fishing.creator-spr...
Today we are talking all about trolling for walleyes. Trolling is one of the most effective way to put these fish in the boat all season long! We recently did a video called HOW TO TROLL LIKE A PRO. In that video I discussed how a ton of trolling tips relating to boat control and that type of stuff. In this video we are doing some summer walleye fishing and discussing how I like to physically set up my spread and run clean. Thanks for watching the summer walleye fishing videos and stay tuned for more!

    For the 5 Bozos that disliked this video. What could be the reason? Please explain. Shelby dump you?Toms Ex girlfriends?Fellow KZreadr fisherman jealous that Tom adds a 1k subscribers to his cult per week? Maybe it’s your dog that dislikes the video because you’re too lazy to take him fishing?

    Good video and some really nice marble eyes! You should also make mention of line diameter and trolling speed as well especially with bottom bouncers. When letting out your planer boards adjust the spool tension so the line comes off the spool at a slow and steady pace, about 50 to 60% tight. Engage the line out alarm aka “clicker”, place the bait and planer board in the water free spool and place the rod back in the holder. Engage the real when the planer board reaches the desired distance from the boat. Hope this works well for you and your subscribers!

    Here's a challenge for ya tom. Do these techniques when your in a derby. Everything changes in a derby up here in canada and people pre fish. You have a lot of open water. Don't think I've seen you river fish? If you had. send me a link. If you're not a derbyman. Sorry I missed a video where you post this. I'm a tournament fisherman myself. And open water is very common here. Hot day and the only.option is to go out to the lake and slip bob or lindy rig it. Prefishing and derbies tend to get different up in Northern quebec. Btw you have a very nice boat. It feels like you try the same lake most of these videos.

    Fishing lake Erie we use in line planer boards from the start of the season till the end. Used every in line planer board that was ever made and by far the new ninja boards my dream weaver are the best hands down. Especially when you’re fishing by yourself. Total game changer. Great video good to see Shelby with you.

    Open water trolling with a bottom bouncer? Wouldn’t a bouncer spook the fish in really clear water? I would think snap weights with a longer lead would be stealthier? I’m fairly new to open water trolling for walleye.

    You said you were fishing about 20 feet deep in 45’ of water. Can you touch on how you control the depth of your lure when trolling? For example, do you drop the lure behind the planer board 70 feet to obtain 20 foot depth? Obviously depends on the lure but if you could talk about that in the video or as a reply to this post I’d appreciate it. Thanks!

    Whatever you are dragging, go somewhere on the lake and troll to the depth you want it to be, at the speed you wanna go. When it hits bottom, that's where you planer board goes. Then troll deeper water.

    How do you decide if you're using spinners or using cranks, or both? Seasonal?

  • @loboyd691

    @loboyd691

    Жыл бұрын

    More seasonal in our experience. We use live bait, mainly minnows, and plastics up until June 10th or so when the walleyes are still up shallower post-spawn. We will also troll crank baits 5-15ft or so as well during that time. If casting live bait and plastics isnt working we will try trolling cranks. We use spinners and lindy rigs when the summer warms up with a variety of things (live bait and plastics). Cranks on bottom bouncers is nice way to try and give them something different as well.

    Why use bottom bouncers, rather than inline weights or snap weights?

  • @loboyd691

    @loboyd691

    Жыл бұрын

    Bottom bouncers will help keep whatever hook and bait setup you have up off the bottom more consistently if the fish are being assholes and being picky. Whenever we start to troll deeper, we usually will put a lindy or a snap weight setup on to see if they want to bite right off the bottom and we will also run a bottom bouncer to see if they want the bait or lure up off the bottom on 1 or 2 feet.
