How to Troll for Walleye BY YOURSELF! | Lake Erie Walleye Fishing

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

How to troll for walleye by yourself! This video walks through how I catch Lake Erie walleye by myself when fishing, and the equipment that I use to do so. My boat is a 20' Tracker with a Minnkota Terrova trolling motor, and RodTrees.com rod trees. Any line counter rod and reel combo will work, as well as Bandit deep diving crankbaits, P10, Reef Runner, etc depending on depth and speed. Church's planar boards are what I use, but any planar board selection will work for this specific setup. Leave any comments or questions below!

I fish Lake Erie solo a fair amount and my set-up is very similar to yours. I don't have rod trees, though, as I made my own rod holder bases and mounted them to the track system in my gunnels. Also, when using crankbaits, I only use a snap. I don't mind fishing alone, honestly. Usually, there's someone on the water who I know and can communicate with on the radio or by phone. Plus, I can crank up the music! Nice video!

I feel like the rod holder setup is still similar, I almost bought something similar to what you’re saying before I got the trees. I really don’t mind it either, I can run on my own schedule and move wherever I want, plus I film these videos and it’s more comfortable to film alone with my dog 😂😂 thanks for tuning in, I appreciate the support!

I fish alone occasionally, but mostly jigging in the D-River. I prefer not to troll alone for the safety aspect. If you fall in while trolling, you are not likely to make it back alive. The boat will keep going and unless there is another boat really close, you are in serious trouble. When I do troll alone, I net my fish sitting on the back platform and try to always be hanging on to something as I move around the boat. Especially when I go the front to put the TM in and out. Of course, at that point, the boat isn't moving, so it's not nearly as dangerous if I were to fall in.

I can respect that, I always keep my remote clipped to me somewhere and if I ever did fall in I could quickly spotlock or cancel the continuous setting. The sides on my boat are pretty high, as well as the transom, so I’ve never worried about it. But it’s definitely something to think about, so I appreciate the comment!

I have 2 7’-6” rods and 2 8’ rods, I generally run the 2 7’-6” rods and 1 8’ rod by myself because I like the 7 footers a little better, we can use 3 rods per person on Lake Erie in Ohio

She’s been fishing with me for 6 years and only had 1 incident. I’m careful to be sure she doesn’t get too close to the hooks
