I like the Wii U myself. It has some great games, an awesome Virtual Console, and backwards compatibility with the Wii! It was very well worth it for me

@@MintBerryCrunchPower well let me tell you is 2023 there is no point on buying a Wii U and here is why almost all the good Wii U games are already on switch and mii verse is closed and If want to play twilight princess or wind waker I’ll suggest you to buy a GameCube or a Wii instead since alot of GameCube and Wii games are not on the switch

I think a very big reason you didnt mention is Nintendo taking down like every youtube video with any Nintendo games in them. They were actively discouraging people trying to tell about their games they love

People complained about it so much, they launched the "Nintendo Ambassador" program so that influencers could be allowed to talk about their games and still make money (I think it was 60% or something insane like that. I know it wasn't 100%). And if you weren't, they'd claim the video and take all of the revenue.

One feature that I liked but didn't use enough was that some games were also 3DS compatible and can be played on the Wii u with the 3DS; like super smash bros. That feature with both of those systems had a lot of potential

Wii U is a perfect example of how much more creative older things were, they packed a lot more features thanks to that. Having the second screen, TV remote, stylus and all that in your controller is amazing to me to this day.

And it could never be used for anything other than an inventory screen. It failed at what it was meant to be, a controller for a game console. Since it was just a controller it couldnt even do the screen gimmicks DS did.

Wii party (Wii U addition) was such a fun game to play with friends and family ngl

I LOVE the wii U games. Mario maker, wind waker hd, Skylanders trapteam.. That not counting that you can play wii games (pokepark is my personal favorite)

The Switch was almost a failure at first but succeeded with time.

I’m 12 and used to have a Wii U. It broke due to a memory issue. After years of failure, I finally managed to emulate Wii U games on my PC. My favorite game right now is Super Smash Bros, specifically the Wii U version.

3 big why it failed 1. Price 2. No one really Finder out what was it 3. Power Bonus. Not many good games

It seems like the Wii U commercials have at the very least shown that kids are not the only ones interested in Nintendo as some annoying people say sometimes.

Infact I'd argue Xbox and Ps fanbase has more kids than Nintendo does since Nintendo has been around for so long and there's a lot of fans that stayed

Wii U was really an unfortunate console. Lots of mistakes and marketing blunders turned this into a very underrated and underappreciated console.

The Wii U's PowerPC chip was interesting to me, Nintendo has been using IBM PowerPC CPUs since 2001. Something interesting about the Wii (and maybe the Wii U) is that you can run Mac OS 9 on it with minimal emulation

Super Mario Maker was not immediately ported to the 3DS. Nor was Yoshi's Wooly World, the only other game that was ported to the 3DS. SMM: September 2015 for Wii U and December 2016 for 3DS YWW: June2015 for Wii U and January 2017 for 3DS

(January in Japan, February in the rest of the world) Fun fact: on the launch day of Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World on Nintendo 3DS, the Wii U version got an update which added compatibility with the Poochy amiibo.

The Wii U (for me) is the best console Nintendo has made all of the online communities and getting to know people on Miiverse was the best, the music was the best, the games may not have been what you hoped for but they’re still pretty good and it created franchises such as Splatoon and Mario Maker and the compatibility to play the original Wii as well.

My favorite games for WiiU (which is my second favorite console) are Smash 4, Super Mario Bros U, Super Mario Maker and Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival (The fact that I like Amiibo Festival makes it a little strange for me and maybe for others too)

I personally went from the Wii to the PS4 myself. Because of it I got to experience games I otherwise wouldn’t have on Nintendo consoles at the time. Persona 5, the South Park games, street fighter V, and a higher frame rate too. It worked out in the end because now all the best Wii U titles have either been ported to the switch or have sequels that replace them.

The Wii U is pretty decent. Sad to see a wonderful console wasted away.

I used to have a Wii U years ago, before I got my finger hurt by putting a Nintendo Wii U disc in, and my mom had to sell it, because she didn’t want me hurting my finger on it again. I miss the Wii U😢😭😭😭. I wish my mom wouldn’t sell it if I hadn’t hurt my finger in the past.

The WiiU was me and my siblings first TV console, even with all the consoles we have now the WiiU still is at the top for us. Heavily Underrated Console.

I became a Nintendo fan in 2015 at the age of 8. I saw the Wii U and thought it was really cool. My dad was like “why don’t you get a PlayStation” and I said cause it can’t play Mario on it. Christmas that same year I got the MK8 Bundle with its dlc and NSMBU. One of my favorite Christmas’ of all time

It was after a year of getting it idk why no one mentions this because when I first got my WiiU I was able to play a whole room away but a few years later I had to stay within 5 feet

The Wii U menu music tho it gives me chills

2014-2017 was the best time for the Wii U

I'm a Nintendo fanboy but the Wii U intro presentation and following ads just had me scratching my head. In actuality, it was the Switch ahead of its time. With more advance tech and better execution, the Switch pulled off what the Wii U could've been.

Oh well you know, games like yoshi's wooly world and mario maker didnt come to the 3ds until WAAAAAAAY after the wiiu's relevancy. This was mere moments before the switch's release. So the wiiu hadnt lost any sales from the 3ds ports

Yes, and Nintendo lied to the press, saying that Super Mario Maker would never be ported to the 3DS because of technical limitations.

In all those years Nintendo worked on the switch and looking back on it. It's insane so many IP's were revived and thanks to that we got Pikmin 4 and so many other great 1st party games that if weren't for the switch they would've never seen the light of day!

i still got my wii u same as nintendo ds and especially the wii but now i mostly play on nintendo switch i miss wii party so much i never played the mario party games beside mario party superstars cmon nintendo bring back wii or just the mii characters

I'd take any 2 first party Wii U games over the Xbox One and PS4's entire libraries.

I bought the Wii U in September 2015 for Super Mario Maker. Even after Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS and the Nintendo Switch, I haven't regretted it, because I'd never had a Wii before. The Wii U made me discover Super Mario Galaxy, Super Paper Mario, Wii Sports Resort... And I was able to buy big Switch games years before their release and much cheaper.

I love the Wii U so much... Such a good little library, and a fun concept with the two screens.

I don't care at all about third party compatibility. I loved the Wii U, and at the time, it was my biggest Christmas present *ever.* It was unheard of in my family to get anything for Christmas over, like, $200. I got the Wii U/Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle, complete with a DLC code, and Super Mario Maker. I had so much fun with that Wii U, and it also had some great virtual console titles as well. The Xbox One and PS4 never lived up to the Wii U for me, especially considering how the best non-Nintendo console, the Xbox 360, was one that I already had and had played a lot beforehand.

This and the Xbox one is what we had growing up😅so nostalgic and loved the video games lol

I’d personally say it also has to do with the games themselves specifically how impressive they looked for example the main Mario game for the Wii u was 3D world and the main game for the switch was odyssey even for the Wii galaxy looked way more impressive than 3D world not saying it was bad but it was obvious that the biggest issue with the Wii u was the games were too similar to other Wii or 3ds games or no one really cared about them and actual new interesting games were released too late in the consoles’ life to impact sales.

Splatoon sells it for me idc if it selled badly woomy is amazing

I was 6 when it came out and I really thought it was Wii accessorie

I was like 6 when the wii U dropped and I loved it when I got it but the fact they did good with one game commercial and that was the Mario kart 8 commercials

I was 7 and a huge Nintendo fan when the Wii U came out, so of course that’s what I got. But I got a ps4 in 2019 and in retrospect, that’s what I would have gotten that Gen if I was older and could only pick one

Still underrated

Even as a child the marketing was a really big deterrent for games like Splatoon.

If u were over the age of 13 and already had an original Wii or another console chanced are you wouldn’t have bought it. Fortunately I was only 5 when it came out and didn’t own an original Wii so I ended up getting a Wii U for Christmas 2014 when I was only 7.

The Wii U had amazing games. Pikmin 3, super Mario maker, Super Mario 3D world, and you can play them in the switch! Pikmin 3 deluxe, super Mario maker 2. Super Mario 3D world and bowser’s fury, you name it!

I think the dumbest feature they did and made mandatory was the fact that you NEEDED to use the gamepad and it's controls along with it. Made me not even consider buying it even after all these years but I got me a Wii though 😂

i love my wii u, even i don't own a lot of games on it. also i love the controller layout even on the wii u pro controller and used it on my pc and "switch".

I miss my Wii U, had it since 2015 n' tried selling it bundled with Mario Party 10, Mario Kart 8 and NSMBU+NSLU for like 150€, nobody bought it and I gave it to my twin cousins

Modding the Wii U will be better than before

I still play the Wii U almost every day, more than my Switch or PS3 or Xbox One. Multiplayer on it is amazing since no split screen

It’s weird because I actually knew a decent amount of people who owned a wii u

I own a wii u and played Minecraft on it, I can say I had the time of my life especially with the fun glitches

I love the Wii U, its one of my favorite consoles It’s the console I built soo many memories when I was younger, I have a almost 10 year old Minecraft that I still play, and the backwards compatibility is something I miss on the switch The only thing I disliked about the Wii U are the Mii,s, those looked hideous

What if the mario + rabbids commercials were like that?

I just like really the Wii U cuz it joins the Wii to another console, and on switch the only thing we get was the separation of the gamepad of Wii U

I feel like the Wii U could have been saved easily with a few tweaks. If Nintendo had just put some effort into making it able to render Wii games in HD, I bet a lot of people would have bought it for this feature alone.

In hindsight I think the Wii U was an amazing console. If Nintendo had just advertised it properly it would have sold probably around 40-60 million units comfortably

And then they put 'U' after the games and were like "YA GUYS IT'S NEW IT'S NEW GIVE US MONEYY"

Here’s the biggest problem with the Wii U for me: As cool as I think it would be, the Eshop is closed, and most of the games I’m interested in on it are on consoles I already own and I’ve already played the games. Wii backwards compatibility? Sure, but I already own a wii. Windwaker? My Wii is the backwards compatible version. Splatoon 1? They’re shutting down the online servers soon and either way, I’m pretty sure the majority of its players play on splatoon 3. Basically all of it’s Nintendo IP games? They’re pretty much all on the switch in some way or another.

As someone who can’t see very well, the Wii U really helped me get into certain games and made them accessible.

What bugs me about the wii u is that it had great games and honestly was so much fun with friends but they marketed it so bad now they learned the mistakes with the switch and also ported over a lot of games but still the wii u has some games that are amazing not seen on switch

Wii U had some good ports

Sadly that was all I had when I was younger. So I had to play all the call of duty games on it. I also had to play Arkham city on it. The frame rates with Arkham city are terrible

I really wanted a Wii U when I was a teenager, unfortunately it was too expensive for me

Nintendo shot themselves in the foot with the wii u, they advertised to parent's when most of their market is kids without activity showing its a new console instead of an expensive peripheral.
