This. I built myself a 500$ mechanical Keyboard with all the bells and whistles after watching hundreds of videos on the topic. It sounds great, it feels good, it works perfectly, and I ducking hate it. Bought myself an MX Mini from Logitech and now I’m sad everytime I open the drawer and see my 500$ waste.

Okay, I like Arun, his mostly right about a lot of tech, but his experience with his EV does not match the majority of EV users in the UK. I've been driving EV for 4 years now and I've had 0 issues, I've never had to wait 3 hours for a charge, EVER. The issue he made here is the EQS is just not a good car, sure it says Mercedes on the front, but they're are reletively inexperienced making EVs. Tesla, Kia, Hyundi, BYD, MG, Fiat, Audi all make far better EVs and have significantly more experience at making them. Also there is significant misinformation in his 'opinion' on this. Traffic does not impact EV batteries. If the car isn't moving, its barely using energy. The heater will make a small impact but most EVs are now heat pump based and you'll be looking at losing 1-2% of battery per hour at the most. Range lies, well thats on Mercedes here. My Tesla Model 3 gets the range stated most of the time in Spring/Summer/Autumn, maybe 20% less in winter.

It's still awesome 90% of the time when driving close distance. It's well known if you want to drive distance Tesla is the only option. Good range and a charging network you can rely on. On the positive side the experience will only get better as more chargers open.

  • @Lord_Winchester

    @Lord_Winchester

    8 ай бұрын

@@BenWeatherillBut do you regularly drive 300 Miles like he said he does? Sure, it's really bad marketing on Mercedes, but the problem persists. Finding a free charger, when you are in dire need of one is way more challenging than finding a free pump. And if a pump is occupied, it's available within the next 5 minutes. A charge-stop can set you back another 30 minutes to a couple of hours. Sure, you could just charge up for like 10 minutes, but then you are back at the same problem after 100 miles. Commuting with an EV makes sense, if you can recharge overnight. But for longer distances it's just painful.

That suggest to ask people to spend money wisely and not to throw it at the latest fad which doesn't fall in line with the current corporate abusive world. Not all tech is bad but people need better self-control even I have problems considering how predatory is the current internet. I myself make mistakes and I highly doubt there is anyone that doesn't unless they are extremely poor. I also bought a handheld which I don't exactly use very often which costed me around 60$ as well a beamer for 33$ but hey it is better than throwing hundreds to thousands for something you will barely use. I'm not a fan current EV tech and how things are done.

Mechanical keyboards are overrated IMO. They used to be very common back in the 80's and 90's but fell out of favor for membrane keyboards, who where softer and quieter. Try working in an office with 20 of those being used at the same time and you'll understand why... Main reason why they are making a comeback now it's due to the influencer hype and the fact they have become a sort of status symbol among gaming enthusiasts. If you've got a mechanical keyboard and it works for you then great, but the reality is most people don't need one. The best keyboard you can get is one you like and feel comfortable using. Membrane keyboards are cheaper, quieter and often times sleeker (which makes them more ergonomic without needing to buy extra accessories like wrist rests). And honestly, why spend 100-200$ when you can just go for a fully functional 20$ keyboard? I understand the alure of following the hype train and wanting to try things, but really, more important than what others say is what you think is best for you and your situation... Don't feel bad if your opinion doesn't align with current trends.

i think it's a use case issue, main reason for choosing mechanical keyboards is N-Key rollover (ability to hold down many keys at once and they all register), Membrane keyboards are usually 4-Key rollover up to 6-Key (4 key meaning you can hold down any 4 keys and they all register but 5th might cause the keyboard to report no key being pressed) depending on key position and some special keys (Shift-Alt-Ctrl) you can go over the listed value but its listed as the minimum you can be sure works. For writing where most multi key uses are Shift + Letter, Ctrl + S and Ctrl + P, Any membrane will do fine. For Gaming or certain IT tasks where you set up multi-key keyboard macros for some tasks you will want at least 6-key rollover or a mechanical keyboard.

While appealing for some people, there are far better options by companies such as Keychron and other more enthusiast brands. What baffled me the most is the excuse to have lost speed using the best switches to type ease and accuracy. Downsides on this KB are the detachable pins or the wrist rest are not particularly sturdy and the size of some keys are different that most brand so you need custom keys. What you're saying is next level, even with off-the-shelf keyboards you can get a satisfying experience. mrwhostheboss mentioned minuses that are very personal. Sound - many users don't care about the noise they make(plus there are so many types of switches with various levels of .. well everything). The wrist strain - easy to solve with a wrist rest. Bottoming out - again, different switches with different levels of everything. Sure, some people don't like mechanical switches, but if you really give it a proper go, there's no going back. That said, I would not reccomend anyone getting into it if they like their membrane switches, mechanical gets very expensive very quickly.

But don't get me wrong Apple PCs are good and reliable PCs for business class even the old PowerMac G5s are still great PCs today, but that's it.

I bought a blendjet for the form factor and being able to make individual servings and being easy to finish. When I make stuff with my vitamix, I always find myself adding more and more in after each drink, instead of finishing the little bit that is left at the bottom. That's a me problem, but the blendjet does help with that, I have to be more mindful of the space that I have to use. It definitely has some shortcomings when it comes to frozen things, but working around that, it's helped me out. I've only noticed the ads more recently, months after I bought it.

Interesting to hear the EQS getting so little range. Also the charging situation in the UK seems to be really terrible, as here in Belgium you pretty much always have a decent charger available within 25-50km of motorway

Yeah, I'm always amazed when UK citizens do not realize that their country has completely fallen from the standards of mostly the rest of EU. But then again, they fell for a propaganda campaign utilizing populism, kinda like fascism when you think about it. 😲

His talking about fast chargers not the ones that take 3 to 5 hours to get you 40% battery. And he also talks about how fast charger that charged the car to 100% in 35 minutes are usually filled with people since everyone wants them so you have to wait in line for them

@@niggachad_1 In Germany probably 80% of rest stops have them (at least 150kW, but going up to 300kW). Driving fully electric for a while now, there was only one day, where I had to drive 10km on to the next rest stop, because the last one was full (usually the car would now this and change the route accordingly, but this time also one charger was blocked by some construction, but was reporting itself as available...)

I know a lot of people who've had the same disappointment in electric vehicles. In the U.S., fast chargers are NOT as common as everyone thinks, and the problem is our infrastructure is so old that it can't support having tons of chargers in one particular area. The problem, too, is there are two things that absolutely kill range / longevity of lithium batteries. Extreme heat, and cold (specifically charging while cold). If you've ever spent a considerable amount of time outside on a cold day, and then go to charge your phone, you notice it essentially trickle charges until the phone eventually warms up. Now imagine that, only with a 1000x bigger battery for an EV. And, not to mention, most places are STILL using fossil fuels for their power grids, so you may think you're helping the environment / saving fuel use, but now more fuel has to be burnt at the power plant to accomodate all of these EV chargers that are now constantly being used. Personally, I think it's still far too early for widespread adoption of EVs. Battery technology must get better and more sustainable (lithium / cobalt mining is absolutely horrible for the environment).

Mechanical keyboards vary a lot, and I would say some of your issues there come not from it being mechanical, but characteristics of that one that simply do not suit you. There are low profile switch options with significantly less travel, and certain switches or o-rings to cushion the bottoming out, and with lower noise than clicky audible feedback ones. There are keyboard designs, and maybe even modifications to reduce the sound even more. But those still may not make it a good fit for you personally. If a membrane keyboard suits you well, there isn't a need to change. Mechanical keyboards vary such a huge amount, it would be ignorant of someone to declare a keyboard better for someone for reason of it being mechanical alone.

Fair with disliking the Corsair keyboard, I have one of them. Corsair's QC is terrible. My main issue being that the LEDs tend to start dying right after warranty runs out, had 5 of them by now. However, it does come with a fairly decent wrist rest, with two different textured sides to it. Could've just used that. Also, there's about a 1000 different switches out there. Maybe linear just isn't you. Could go for some blues or so, even if the noise might be worse. There's silent as well.

Yup, there are a lot of variables with mechanical keyboards that affect feel, sound and usability. Pretty shortsighted of a tech reviewer of all people to drop an entire category of products based on his experience with a single (and tbh, overpriced/overhyped) product.
