Ok gentlemen let me jump in here for a moment. Toni and Anita are totally diffrent from one another when it comes to there singing, but both sound great. Kenny (babyface) Edmonds said it best in a interview I heard, " you get the right song with the right artis, you can't go wrong. Toni sings this song as a R&B style. If Anita had of done it, she would have delivered in a Jazzy Style. I do love the both of them.

Their voices are not totally different. They both have that airy ethereal quality to their voices which makes both voices unique and I love them both; my fave singers. Toni even said herself that she was often referred to as the girl that sounds like Anita, when she was younger.

Exactly I’m tired of explaining this to people. Anita Baker is more Opera , Toni is more Urban. Both are adult contemporary artist with similar but distinct musical styles. The same way you can spot a horse from a zebra or a leopard from a cheetah can be applied for Toni and Anita. Anita Mastered it , Toni perfected it. Simple. I love both equally!
