I started out looking at the Gremlin, ended up springing for a new/used Imoerial MkII and it's killer straight into the Amp on both channels. Pedals are just icing on the cake, if you happen to want icing.

No, just two separate recording tracks

1400$ is too steep for me - I got a mint deluxe reverb se with a g12 65 with a cover for 900

Well, you can definitely never go wrong with a deluxe reverb! That is the most recorded amp in history! The perfect workhorse really.
