Doc and Ringo had 3 encounters. In the first Doc was drunk and Ringo was sober and had his gun out. In the second Ringo was drunk and Doc was sober and had his gun out. In the third they were both sober, guns holstered but when they drew Doc was faster just like Curly Bill warned Ringo. And in each encounter Doc always had the last word. Powerful movie and powerful actors, all of them.

Actually Doc was too relaxed when he walked back to the barber, no adrenalin nothing. The Earp boys showed emotion and concern. Something is missing in the scene. Doc's too relaxed, no one wants to die that bad that he has no emotion or feeling of the possibility.

In real life, Doc's reputation was very much fabricated by himself, to scare people. But there was one thing that was very real, Doc might have been the fast gun in the west. Now how accurate... well.... who knows. But he was extremely fast, and he might have been one of the few people who could have beat Ringo in a gun fight. And with a drunk Ringo, Doc would have killed him easy. This scene always seemed like they were trying to stop a child from poking at a rattlesnake.

April Dannette Gosa -Wyatt Earp, as a lawman, was supposedly tough enough to intimidate the criminals he was known for bringing to justice, though Russell doesn’t show him as tough in anyway more than a Disney-trained actor in Tombstone. But Doc Holliday, both the man and the character played by Val Kilmer, was a noted gunfighter and killer, also known as a card shark, thief and hustler/con man.. Even Ringo was fairly reluctant to confront him and only taunted him when drunk or fought him when enraged beyond his better judgement. The friendship between Holliday and Earp was hard to understand and every movie on the actual events tries to explain how Wyatt Earp could tolerate a friend who was such an unapologetic outlaw. In Tombstone, when Kilmer says Ringo reminds him of himself, he adds, “Now I know I hate him!” He can explain the depth of Ringo’s anger and contempt to Earp because he feels the same way. He (Doc) also hates the world just for being born. He and Ringo are almost doppelgängers. They showed it as they verbally dueled in Latin. They lived on the same level of rage.

Doc showed this in the bar too, when he didn't back up or flinch when Ringo stuck the gun in his face. Notice that nobody knew Doc was sitting there. Johnny Ringo wanted to pick a fight with Wyatt but was scared of Doc. You could see it in the scene when Doc killed Ringo. Before Doc popped him in the head Doc said "Why Johnny, you look like someone just walked over your grave." and Johnny responded "Fights not with you Holiday." then later Ringo said he was just "fooling about" regarding playing for blood.
