@@shiv1000 that's not true, while yes they are meant to start with her early adventures they are not prequels to the original canon. This has been stated explicitly, the new games occupy a separate continuity than the OG games and the 2000's games. the Core games, 2000's games and 2010's games all occupy separate continuity's. Three sperate versions of Lara croft, none of them are actually related in terms of time line. I'm glad as well, because even though the first 4 games are easily my favourites (I'm not a fan of anniversary, it's a very different game), i also love the new games and wouldn't want them to be held back by the OG games. By keeping them separate it means they can do new and interesting things with the new games, which is awesome. Like i said tho i much prefer the OG games

I really enjoyed your rant about the needless, over-complication of Lara Croft and Video Game characters in general in recent times. It's so true and it's something that's bothered me for a while; games shouldn't take themselves so seriously.

The problem is simply the consumer market (AKA our acquaintances, fellow gamers, friends and families), the majority of whom aren't gonna bother buying games with the likes of Core Design Lara's character, at least not to the satisfaction of the AAA developers who own the rights to her. Only indies can be bothered to make a classic TR game which will only gather the attention of hardcore classic TR fans, and I don't even think the classic TR fandom can finance that sufficiently.

@@vindifference Now that would be an interesting concept - an indie classic Tomb Raider-like. It's already been done with poin-n-clicks, some indie devs made their takes on classic Resident Evils and Silent Hills (including purposely blocky geometry and character designs, and the PSX lighting to match), and don't even get me started on 90's fps throwbacks. With what devs know and have at their disposal now, I wonder how people would iterate on the idea. Wouldn't even have to be modern-day pretty looking, I don't think people who still play classic TR today care much about graphics. The only thing I remember that's close to classic TR is that one 90's Prince of Persia re-boot/sequel/reimagining that probably hardly anyone remembers.

I agree. I still think LAU games are the best in the series looking through a modern lens. I still love TR 2 and TR 3 and even TR 4 but it is really hard to play them again with the controls and sometimes the puzzles are just plain dumb(this was an issue mainly with TR 4). LAU really balanced things well and are the games that I played myself(when we played the Core design ones I was a bit younger and found them scary so my mom and I played them together but I played the LAU games myself) the new reboot games are decent to good games but they don't feel Tomb Raider. And speaking about the stories, there is nothing wrong with having a deeper story or having more characterization. And the people saying game stories shouldn't take themselves seriously are dumb. Games as an art form are the best medium for story telling if used right That isn't to say that some games cant be just fun filler stuff but I am just saying discreditng games that care about their story is not good. But I will agree the 2013-18 reboot Lara whines and cries a lot

This game had a nice flow to it that made you play the game flawlessly. There were couple of places I got stuck here and there but I was able to solve them bu using the methods given by the gaming community. Games like this remind me of why I became a gamer in the first place. A huge thank you for everyone who made this game and keep up the good work. 😎✊

@@paulwoodford1984 the newest tomb raider games feel more like uncharted. A series I love but if I wanted uncharted I would play uncharted. Nothing will ever beat the original with its great level designs, puzzles, lonely atmosphere & platforming IMO

  • @S0uv3r3ign
    @S0uv3r3ign7 жыл бұрын

3: The gameplay is just Uncharted. Simple as that. But 2013 had the Angel of Darkness syndrome where they tried useless shit because it's trendy to do so. The leveling-survival system, weapon upgrades, the Bow, ... Uncharted knows exactly what it wants, and what it is. It's an action blockbuster. Uncharted reqires no skill to play and the dumbest possible player can enjoy it. That's nothing bad, that's just how it is. Tomb Raider usually was 1/3rd combat, 1/3rd exploration and movement and 1/3rd puzzles. Not always 1/3rd exactly, some entries focused more on one or 2, but that's the holy trinity the Tomb Raider games revolve around. It's like what you said about Legend, Action hero Lara, but taken to the absolute extreme. At least the puzzles didn't solve themselves and the level design wasn't just: hold the analog stick in the general direction and press the jump button on occasion. 2013's puzzles and Uncharted's were, if not totally obvious, explained right away. The platforming was just climbing on pre defined ledges. The level design is completely linear. The real Tomb Raider games were too on certain levels, but there were also huge open rooms with multiple paths to explore. 2013 pretends as if, but even if there is an open room with multiple ways, it's still follow one of those ways linearly to the exit. Uncharted knows it's linear and packs impressive action set pieces along. Climbing there isn't boring becasue arround eveything is moving and exploding and shooting and shit. The combat reqires no skill because it's just there to feel like a cool shootout. 2013 tries to have that but also tries to be serious about them and fucks up completely. Uncharted doesn't have a leveling system or weapon upgrade becasue you don't need them to have fun when shooting. Again 2013 made the same mistake as Angel of Darkness. Here it isn't broken. It's just useless. In Tomb Raider they made you want to explore to find more stuff you are already using, ammo med's and stuff. If you were great in exploration you'd get OP as fuck if you have more med's then ever necessary. That's why i like the old med pack system. To have all weapons at once also give the level designers the chance to put only the ammo in there you'll need. In the others you just pick up whatever you get. But 2013 takes the cake by having practically infinite ammo, weapon upgrades against the most useless enemies in the series. Also there are really only human enemies, until the end where even the Oni are humanoids. They also tried real hard to have diversity. Driving sections in 2,3,4,L & U, And an adventure all over the Globe. Even in 4 which played only in Egypt was really diverse in it's level's where 2013 only has this bland island. You can tell that this is 100% the publisher's fault. The optional dungeons are amazing. In particular the wind temple was really memorable. You can tell that the dev's were force to make uUncharted, but had creative freedom in the optional areas. They are short, easy, simple, and disappointing, but if the team that made those sections would have made the hole game that could have been a different game entirely.

I still have no idea how you can make review of this quality and put them out so fast. I don't think of Anniversary as high as you do, but i still think it's the best remake ever... though there's really not that much competition. It walks a dangerous path between streamlining and casualizing. The puzzles and generally the areas are recreated really nicely with the new tech available. I also like the health pack system. It rewards players for exploration, same with weapons and ammo. Legend was way too linear. Anniversary is worse in that part then the original, but better then Legend. Lara's character, the quick time events, the simplifications, the lower difficulty, the linear small levels and no gameplay rewards for exploration are the biggest flaws with the crystal dynamics Tomb Raiders. Though the Eidos Tomb Raider just had as many flaws of their own. Confusing unlogical puzzles, confusing level layout, poor telegraphing, cheap instant death traps and of corse the controlls. I'm wondering how you think about Underworld considering how you've talked about it in this review. I think it's one of the stronger titles in the series. Something i always liked about Tomb Raider that you've left out so far are the mythological elements. Usually in the series they are made up, but even then it's interesting how they play around with their ideas. And i always like it when writers use names and concepts and use then freely for their own story. You are probably already writing your script for the game i just wait for your video. If you don't have the DLC i still recommend just watching the last 20 seconds of the last cutscene. The smile from the doppelgänger is amazing. One of the memorable scenes in the series for me. I don't want so spoil anything, but you know when you see it. It's the perfect way to end the franchise on a smile as memorable as that. Since you are most likely to do Tomb Raider 2013 too let me poison the well in advance. I think it's a good game, but it's the worst Tomb Raider of them all. It's funny. Uncharted was inspired by Tomb Raider, but made it's own thing. Then Tomb Raider 2013 just blatantly steals Uncharted. It really feels like a spin off. Let's examine the 3 biggest problems with that game. 1. It's not a Tomb Raider plot. 2. It's not Lara Croft as the main character. 3. It has no Tomb Raider gameplay.

I never could take Nü-Lara seriously. She is supposed to be strong and independant, but also emotional and fragile. She kills 2,000 people in the first half of the game, and is still saying to herself "I can do this!" as if she doesn't make the hills run red with the blood of her enemies. There's all this background fluff about her mom dying, having to complete her father's work ( oh yeah, work for the patriarchy, how progressive), when all of that shit was dealt with in the manual back in TR 1. She crashed with a plane, survived, became an adrenaline junkie, studied archeology and is now an ACTUAL badass woman that doesn't have to whine about her feelings constantly or do something because daddy did it too. Old Lara > Nü-Lara all the way. From visuals, personality, to the writing and the games themselves. And also don't forget that the original Lara is a more creatively made character than just reconstituting an existing franchise to some "bold" new feminist vision.

A game of Lara without extra characterization these days is best represented in the Lara Croft games such as GO or Guardian of Light etc. But such types of games can never hold the prominent place that the old TR's held in gaming in their day. If TR2 was released today with the exact same level of storytelling and character motivation it would almost certainly be with the same level of popularity of such mobile titles, or at best, an indie game, as is being made. Whether or not I'd prefer that is totally based on whether or not TR as a series can survive if they ever reverted to the more simple setup. Which is to say, if the franchise belonged to him, can NicoBass make a living on simply remaking the old TR games as-is, in a relatively timely manner? Also I have a soft-spot for Larson since he did sneakily let Lara go back in Egypt, and she and him have remotely civil conversations since the beginning of the game, that only serve to indicate that Larson would rather go on a date than kill the bitch. Honestly, if we really don't care for the characterization of new Lara, skipping all the cutscenes is just as good a solution as any. You could do the same things in the classics and the games would still be cool. They'd just lack a little bit of context. Only a little.

i was so excited for this game, i loved the first tomb raider so much and i was chomping on the bit when i saw the trailer for this, i hated it though, the stupid scripted fights, turning Lara into a pussy, the puzzles became convoluted in some levels i had to end up resorting to a guide to get through, it looked nice but had none of the magic or atmosphere of the original, i played through it once and never touched it again

I would love to discuss this on a medium that's not you tube at some point. I personally don't think games have lived up to their potential story wise and are easily outclassed by books and film. I've seen glimpses of the greatness they could potentially wield but as of now they're the weakest of the story telling mediums for all sorts of reasons. I've seen top notch stories in Black Mirror, Bojack Horseman, Tale of 2 Cities (one of these is not like the other). But a great story teller gives you all of the answers and just takes you on a fucking roller coaster. They give you a character in 20 minutes and break em down in a really compelling way or explore a variety of concepts over a lot of chapters (there's more to it but this is a you tube comment). The strength of those mediums is that the writer/director gets to show what they want, how they want. You just consume it. Games have a person to consider when attempting a story. Okay you can have a Nathan Drake, Ezio Auditore, Lara Croft what have you. You can lead me a long the rails yeah. Give them a character. Then you can basically just do what ever the fuck you want. You told me the character was noble? Nah i can steal from everyone if i want to. Maybe their capability in game is a little too high for what i see on screen. The big issue with game story telling is that these writers so desperately want to shape characters in their usual methods. They have an idea of a fully realized person in their head and you just sort of steer them along a path either some what elegantly or really poorly. its entirely player exclusionary when games can basically create dynamic stories. Okay i ran through 10 chapters of a 3rd person shooter as nathan drake. In between and during gameplay he banters with people about some conflict. What this usually means is gameplay/story segregation. Nathan Drake is a man killing machine until the cut scene says he not. Nathan Drake can hookshoot his way up timbuktu but in game i can only hookshoot 5 meters away. This is all to say the medium is at odds with this conventional character building. Becuase if the player doesn't want to role play, or goes off book it's usually detrimental to the narrative. What writers should do for games is write personas as opposed to characters. Basically instead of writing a character with a specific set of ideas/goals/etc write a human being with some history that will dictate how they react to you, another living person. Write a person that will react to player being noble, evil, cocky, coy, smart, humble. Problem is this requires so much more work than a typical linear narrative. When i do see glimpses of this dynamic story telling as i did in Silent Hill Shattered Memories i see some moments of greatness. They have the character of Harry Mason, but how he interacts with the world reflects player behavior. Weather he's nice, mean, confused all based on how you're playing. He' s just the dynamic personality of a worried father looking for his daughter. He still has some character. But that character isn't all that defines you. You also define who he becomes. It's not an amazing amount of variable change but it was there. on a WII GAME. I think game stories could be fucking incredible. Unlike anything a movie or book can offer. But the writers we have now wan't to flesh out Their worlds. Not let you take part in them in a truly meaningful way.

In conclusion: I want to say this again. 2013 is a good game. I think Uncharted 2&3 were better, but however. I don't think it's a Tomb Raider game. It's not Uncharted either, but it's more of a Uncharted spin of, rather then anything related to any Tomb Raider. The optimal thing is if they just called it something else but then they would have been attacked as a Uncharted rip off. They tried to put Tomb Raider stuff in there to make it seem like they are not stealing from Uncharted. On top of that they made all the mistakes Angel of Darkness did with useless, "modern" stuff like the bow, leveling system, weapon upgrades and stuff. DMC Devil May Cry was a terrible reboot on Devil May Cry too, but at least is was Devil May Cry. The gameplay, platforming and puzzles were not as fleshed out, but you can tell it was supposed to be that. The plot against Demons and Mundus was properly reused to have this great meta thing where the Demons control the media and all. The characters were shit, but Dante was still a careless overpowered demon and Vergil was still the more serious guy. Please don't get me wrong DMC Devil may Cry was shit! But it was at least a reboot of the source material, and that's something. The thing that pisses me off by far the most about 2013 is that it was such a success that THIS will be the Tomb Raider we move into the future with, effectively blocking the series form going back the the real Tomb Raider.. DMC Devil may Cry was so hated that when to do a new Devil may Cry they'll most likely go back to their roots. The Plot sucks. It tires to use some themes form the originals, but ends up more as Uncharted then what it's supposed to be. Lara sucks. Her character, skills, and motivations are not just unbelievable as a Tomb Raider, but also as an individual character. The gameplay sucks. The puzzles are basically non existent, the combat is stolen form Uncharted and the climbing and platforming just as much. And that's only the MAYOR problems i have with the game. I didn't even go in detail about the hundred's of smaller things the game does wrong.

Anniversary was such a let-down to me. I knew Crystal Dynamics was not a good choice after I played The Lost Valley. The level redesign decisions ruined a classic stage, and the big moment with the T-Rex was devolved into a sad QTE event. Part of what made that moment so iconic was how unexpected it was and how many options the player has in dealing with that threat. Crystal Dynamics failed to understand this, and they also failed to understand Lara herself. What's more, the horror elements were partially lost by redesigning Atlantis, making the whole experience pale in comparison to the original. Like you mentioned, Lara suddenly becomes an anti-violence wimp who gets lucky as deus-ex-machina steps in and does her dirty work for her. We lose the sprawling levels, the colors are muted and bland, and we lose the character herself. While the actual character models were beautiful, a lot of bad decisions added up, and this remake was not respectful to the original. It simply rode the coattails of the greatness that came before it.

I played the first Tomb Raider on a demo disk with MSDOS games, didnt get what was that about, it was probably 97. A couple years after, a neighbor of mine got a playstation and his father used to play Tomb Raider III, it amazed me, since i was used to play SNES. Some time later, another neighbor got a PS1 too and their demo disk came with Metal Gear Solid, it became an obcession. Eventually, i moved with my brother and we got a PS1 too, later that year, my grandmother gave us MGS1 and VR missions, a got TR3 later on too, but was too addicted to MGS to focus on the TR3, i usually only booted the Manor and played around it. Years later, got a PS2, and kept it until i graduated college, at that time i got a PSP and booted Tomb Raider Anniversary in it, it was the first Tomb Raider i finished, just before moving out, i finished TR3 on my PS2 too. When i married, i got a PS3 and soon got the crystal dinamics trilogy, finished it entirelly. Than i played Uncharted 2 and Tomb Raider 2013; than Uncharted 3, traded off Uncharted 3 because Tomb Raider 2013 felt more of the same, but a little better. My favorite still been Anniversary. Even tho i dont like quick time events on any sort. I recently got TR1 on GOG, and am planning to finnish this year.

1: For a reboot there will obviously be differences. Unlike what pretend game journalists would have you believe, i don't think Legend was a reboot. Tomb Raider always was episodic. Like 007. Their stories stood on their own. The only games that were directly connected were 5 with 4, 6 with 4, and U with L&A (I shorten them because i'll use them a lot). Legends was just a new adventure for the same Lara... for the most part. I know Anniversary shit on that a little, but i can see how either of 1 or A could have lead to a similar outcome. I also consider 5 non cannon because they were stories told by someone. There is no reason to believe that anything of that ever happend to Lara. In contrast 2013 fells like a prologue, rather the a full story. Tomb Raider plots most of the time revolved about Evolution, immortality or a higher plane of existence. 1,2,3,6,L,A,U fit that perfectly. By either speeding up natural evolution, becoming a Dragon, or going to Avalon, or reviving a died out species. 4 kind of, because the died out god was already revived and had to put back. In Uncharted Nathan also hunts for treasure, but more as an expedition. The plot usually revolves around greed. They want to revive that Sun Goddess in 2013, but because they have gone mad. Their actual goal is to get off the island. And of corse the is a Nazi ship section, because Uncharted had one of those. The villains and end bosses are introduces early, and Lara also meet's them quite early. 1, Natla in the opening, 2, Bartoli on the plane, 3, Willard after India, 4, Seth only at the end, but von Croy was possessed by Seth, 5, Larson and Piere, 6 Eckhart where the shop guy is killed, L Amanda, A Natla again and U Natla and Amanda on the Ship. In 2013 you meet the boss of the Mercenaries, but not this Goddess thing endboss. Uncharted also reveals their villains rather late. In 1, only after the Colonell dies and the other guy reveals himself, in 2 about half way though the story and 3 is the only game where the woman is introduced right away. All other Tomb Raiders take the existence and use of supernatural things for granted in this world. 2013 doesn't. In Uncharted neither. In all 3 Uncharted games Nathan goes on to say that whatever supernatural force is just a myth, even though by that point he should know better. These elements are used only very late in the plot. In 1 after the golden coffin, in 2 after the ice section and in 3 after they are in the ancient city. Much more important though, the supernatural elements are important to the plot. In all the Tomb Raider whatever supernatural thing in introduced early is the mayor plot point. The Scion, Dagger of Xian, Meteorites, Amulet of Horus and so on. Uncharted 1 is like that with the golden coffin, but 2 & 3 only had their supernatural elements given relevance at the end, just like 2013. In Tomb Raider Lara is usually on her own. Maybe at times getting help or info by someone, but for the most part the Plot revolves around her hunting something. In 2013 a Uncharted a lot revolves around comradely. In 2013 with her stranded colleges and in Uncharted with Nathans friends.

2: Lara is not just not herself, she's also a weak character on her own. Previously Lara was older and a defined character who didn't need a character arc to develop. In L & U she has a more serious character, but she doesn't really develop either. Only in A, it'a problem. In 2013 they try to have a serious character progression and fuck that up so hard. In the beginning she is portrayed as a fragile child, even apologizing to a deer she has to kill for food. In the end, and in particular during the scene where she gets the grenade launcher and the building is exploding she shouts: "I kill all of you fuckers!"... or something like, that while killing them en mass. There is nothing happening that would justify such a serious change in character. But i've came up with one. Rather early she's captured by the leader of the Mercs. I didn't think to much of that scene, but apparenty the Internet thinks threatening a woman equals rape to the femenazis. That didn't even cross my mind. But all things considered that's what should have happened. I'm not saying this out of spite, but i think this would have been a great tool for her character to grow. The guy could have just striped her top off, then she breaks free. She has to run around topless and covers her chest with her hands being completely helpless, like Raiden in Metal Gear Solid 2. After escaping she cries. That's something that bothers me too. A character this fragile thrown in this situation would cry. She yells and should be she never just sits in a corner and lets loose. After that she swears to become strong and never let something like this ever happen again. In that grenade launcher scene from earlier. If another henchman would get her and throw her to the ground she could just remeber this, and go completly psycho. In that context a "I kill all of you fuckers!" would be a relateable moment. A character change this extreme NEEDs an extreme catalyst. If they want to go the root of "a Tomb raider is born", would also fit her character of yore. After the events settle and she becomes older her character would settle too. Just the scene from the first Tomb Raider. In the beginning she is open to Larson, but when he betrayed her she goes no mercy on him. Consider how nice she is to Jean-Yves in 4 or to Zip and Alister in L & U, and on the other hand what a cunt she can be to others, like the guy she shot right in the face at the end of 3. If this were her character development that would be a plausibel outcome for her. If you watched Hellsing, the 7th movie in particular Seras development was similar to this. Her killed parents were raped in front of her eyes, and she became mentally unstable and an asshole. Her character settled into the Seras for most of the story, but when psycho, scythe chick brings that memories back and she goes full lunatic on her and the Nazis while still being kind of nice and shy to her friends. In 2013 even if it wouldn't be that exreme, there needs to be something. There is no groth. Lara is the same in the beginning and in the end, but for some reason she has the guts and combat skills to take out a Mercenary army, Oni and a god. On other thing people praised this version for for a reason i cannot comprehend is that this Lara isn't a sex symbol, which pisses me off too. I have to admit i'd rather have sex with the new, grounded, reasonable Lara, rather then with the unpredictable Lara who doesn't give fucks, but that's absolutely not the point. Lara was an ideal character. Having combat experience, vast knowledge about mythology and history. Know how to drive any vehicle and knows several languages. Of corse she has to be sexy. If she weren't that would conflict with her character. And even if. I think the new Lara looks hotter anyway. What's the fucking problem with having a character to be unreasonably sexy in a fictional universe.

Quick addendum to point 2 here. Tomb Raider 2 & 3 prominently displayed Tomb Raider: Starring Lara Croft. How about Tomb Raider 2013: Starring (insert name here). Problem fucking solved. Kind of how Resident Evil does it. The protagonists co-exist and even have cross overs. Naming the thing Tomb Raider and NOT Lara Croft makes this not just possible, but reasonable to do. Particularly if you change the series that drastically. In Resi they at least were in the same Universe with the same rules and logic... kind of... maybe stretched a little with 6, but still. Ment to be connected. It would also be of course reasonable to give that new girl different abilities, ways to progress and a completely different gameplay and gamefeel and game structure all together. Tomb Raider 2013 could work the same with this new girl with climbing gear and a bow and more of a 3rd person combat focus. New girl and Lara don't even need to exist in the same Universe. I know of course that Lara is a big name that will sell games, but she isn't that huge pop icon any more that she used to be. If they really wanted to start the series over without pissing off the fans, that would have been the IDEAL solution. At least i can't think of a better one.

I like this game a lot. I find it pleasantly challenging. I have't played the older one so I can't speak for them but Anniversary was definitely a big step up from Legend. As for 'characterization' in games, I don't mind developers attempting more complex characters and plots. The issue is that a lot of the times they fail or simply copy too much from cinema without exploiting the resources their own medium. Such is the case I think with the games you mentioned having issues with. Legend has an action flick story which is kinda bland and the guys from Lara's team are simply annoying. Uncharted is conscious rip-off of movies like National Treasure. In TR 2013 they tried something more complicated in terms of the plot but ultimately it was mediocre and forgettable.

I love the original, and I think this remake is very beautiful, but I literally could not do the adrenaline dodge - Lara would randomly stumble instead - and I only manage to kill the T-Rex due to a temporary bug that made it stand still. I also have yet to get past that bit in Egypt with an ascent comprising grapple swings and rotating blades. The changing camera angles cause me to fall off in all sorts of odd directions. I think it's a shame that seemingly playing with a game pad is easier. I have always played with a PC keyboard, and resent the fact that I have to buy and master new equipment in order to get through certain sections. I agree with you about The Cistern. That was one of my favourite sections, but the remake ruined it. I also think that, generally, there are too many trapped hallways in this game in the place of real content (a bit like there are too many random deep pits to traverse in TR4). I'm also annoyed that the path is quite obvious, whereas half the fun of the old-style games was trying to work out how to get from A to B - learning which bits of rock were climbable/jumpable etc. That has now been removed, with the way being easy to see but at times unbelievably difficult to achieve, again due to camera angles or difficulties with the controls. I hate the bloody checkpoints.

You want to know What's funny? Tomb Raider anniversary did keep some of the areas the same like the first stage. Yet it made you use the grapple. All of this to retool the level design. When it comes to Capcom remaking their older games, they know that they have alot of new features they want to implement. They know in order to do that, they have to retool the level design to keep the challenge and difficulty balancing of the OG game. Adding new areas was a first step. Then they had to redo all the puzzles from the ground up. Lastly is the risk vs reward. It's more risky to leave Corpes of remains of Zombies knowing they'll come back as Crimson heads. They added defense weapons to make zombies easier to shake of. It's funny too because my favorite game of all times had a remake ported to gamecube. MGS The Twin Snakes. Aside from the matrix style cutscenes, they basically just copied the level design from the original and pasted it with some minor changes. But apart from just updated graphics, the game decided to implement all the mechanics from MGS2. Things like the first person aiming ruined the combat and it breaks the game in half. MGS was a stealth game strictly. There was no deciding your approach to combat. It was about avoiding enemy detection and getting past them unseen. Not saying it didn't have it's fair share of combat segments. But it wasn't the most rewarding thing. In twin snakes, you can just shoot the cameras out. In a area with guards that are hard to take out, take them out with a tranq gun. Headshots too. No need to worry about the Radar being disabled on the harder modes. Just use it as a cheat sheet in the surrounding area. The reason it was disabled on the harder modes in the original was because it want you to absurb the environment. It kinda takes away on it's harder modes having the option to enable the Radar. So essentially, the risk vs reward is gone. It is important to have features implemented that add to the challenge and difficulty. An interesting tibet. But a KZreadr I'm subscribed to called J's reviews talked about this in a video exclusively about MGS and how the series handled difficulty balancing. If you ever review the RE2 remake, maybe you could address this.

Game plays like shit. Terrible amera never knows where it wunts to be. Gives me head hackes. Plus the previous controlls kept u much more in controll, in this version the same combos make 3 or 4 different things, its all very random. Classic forever!

I absolutely hate this games' interpretation of the story of the original, and most of the condensing of the original levels. Only one or two were actually improved upon. This is a textbook example of how NOT to do a video game remake. Doom 2016 and Mortal Kombat IX are good examples.

Work with your speech. I enjoy your reviews of the series but these videos are a pain to listen to. I watch all of it on 1.5x speed and I cant believe you speak so slow for real.

My biggest problem with any Tomb Raider game, the writers suck at telling you what's going on. It always feels like you start right in the middle of the story.
