Tom T Hall -- Faster Horses (The Cowboy and the Poet) [REACTION]
Ойын-сауық
This was in honor of Tom T Hall's life, as he passed away recently and it was only fitting that he be acknowledged. I'll be doing more of his songs down the road, but I didn't rate this one since I don't rate the first reaction after an artist passes.

tom is one of the greats for sure
RIP Tom T.
I've always loved Tom Hall's music. He was a natural born storyteller. My two favorites were Old Dogs, Children and Watermelon Wine and The Year that Clayton Delaney Died. Thanks for this remembrance Don. RIP Tom.
Love Tom T Hall. RIP
He wrote “Harper Valley PTA”
Growing up in Tom T's hometown of Olive Hill, KY I guess I can say we were raised on these songs. One of my favorites was the song Fastest Rabbit Dog In Carter County Today, but then again Little Lady Preacher (from the Limestone Church) might be right up there to as I've been to a service or two there in my youth.
I remember singing this when I was young and I had no idea what it meant, later on in life, me and my friends listened to this as a drinking song, it’s funny, upbeat. Never will forget it RIP Tom T Hall
Tom T knew how to have a good time. Bless the folks suffering from this hurricane.
It's hard to pick a favorite by Tom T, but Old Dogs, Children and Watermelon Wine will bring a tear every time I hear it. He was such a great songwriter. Our New Jersey got hit so bad in this last hurricane. We lived near the towns mentioned - Manville and Hillsborough. There were so many lives lost.
Somehow I never get tired of this song. Some Tom T Hall favorites are I Like Beer and A Week In A Country Jail.
his songs was so interesting.
nice trumpet
That was my senior song
He is absolutely right with all those adjectives. Faster horses, bring more money, younger women, and older whiskey. Like the fire triangle, can have one without the other. This is a timeless song.
Tom T Hall is a great storyteller. My wife's favorite Tom T Hall song is Sneaky Snake. My favorite Tom T Hall song is his most successful song "I Love" probably because it was a crossover hit. It was released in October 1973 and was number 1 on the Country singles for a couple of week and made it number 15 on the pop charts. Both of these songs would be a great reaction or review.
I was 5 maybe 6 when this song came out. I remember thinking the lines were "past the horses" and "beyond the women" "more the money" (not sure what I thought the whiskey line was.
I could go on and on about how much Tom T Hall and his music has meant from my earliest memories through now. I'm sure there's plenty of other folks that feel exactly the same. Ballad Of Fourty Dollars Week In A Country Jail Who's Gonna Feed Them Hogs He's got a ton.
Coal Chaney - coal shooter, ill will creek, or any other song by him. (Eastern KY guy)
What a great song! I hadn't thought of this song in YEARS, but when I saw you did a reaction to it I pulled out the old Vinyl record of it and blew the dust off the record player and put this one on. I had to listen to it a few times before seeing your reaction. I just got married on Saturday Sept. 4th and as we got married at my parents horse ranch this would have been a perfect song to play, but alas, I had totally forgot this song. Thanks again for the memories.

If someone asked me to name my favorite Tom T song, I most likely say whatever song it was I heard last, so for today it's "Faster Horses".

The Year that Clayton Delaney Died
Hall did some good songs, but according to Bob Dylan, you should avoid the song “I Love,” in which Hall sings about baby ducks and slow moving trains. Dylan: Now listen, I’m not every going to disparage another songwriter. I’m not gonna do that. I’m not saying that’s a bad song, I’m just saying it might be a little over-cooked."
