I remember watching the movie in theaters and I remember saying “whoever that bald homie is with the fat man hands it sounds like Tom Cruise” bc he literally did something different than he normally does in his movies from Jack Reacher, Ethan Hunt, Maverick (Top Gun) Colonel Stauffenberg, etc, etc

Les Grossman was by far Tom's best ever character purely because it took this guy we all knew as one of the best, serious actors of his generation and put him into a surreal comedy character and he utterly killed it. Of course he did.

Im pretty sure they based the character of les grossman on harvey wienstein. They would never say that now but its pretty obvious thats what they were going for.

I remember watching Tropic Thunder when it came out without knowing anything about it, and I didn't realize Tom Cruise was in it until few weeks later!

There hasn't been a movie with him where he didn't completely smash it. Some of the movies might not be all that great but his performances are always worth watching them.... even that Mummy film he did. Live/Die/Repeat or Edge of Tomorrow (whatever you prefer) is one of my absolute favorite films of all time.

He really should do more comedic roles.

james barry and both were nominated for Golden Globes.

This was a role that Tom went away from so much of his previous work to present a character to the audience that was Massively larger than life. Mr. Cruise nailed this role.

That role was small but massive because of how well he portrayed that character. The movie was genius!

Tropic Thunder is a cult classic, a masterpiece. hollywood cannot do a movie like that in 2020

As much as i have loved Tom's performances over the years, Les is the best character he has portraied to date imo. just was everything that the movie needed him to be.

That movie took every actor and flipped them on their head (except Stiller. But he still had Simple Jack.) Simply a masterpiece.

Les Grossman was one of Tom Cruise's best roles ever. God I love him. He's so cool!

Cruise’s comedic chops are epic. He seems to have so much fun in every interview and is full of life. And he never ages.

Cruise is one of the best late night interviews. I read an article from one of these guys saying how grateful they are when he's on, because he always brings something new, and never mails it in. Pretty cool.

Tom was the bright spot of an otherwise dull movie for me. As much as I like watching Tom do Mission: Impossible, if I heard he was bringing Les back, I would see it in a heartbeat. I wish Tom would do more comedies.

it makes it even more hilarious when he makes all those threats, and then after he hangs up, he asks his assistant to find out who they are lmao

One thing that I admire about Tom is his dedication and/or passion to learn new skills. I'm the same way, but he takes it to another level entirely.

Less Grossman and the whole Tropic Thunder movie is awesome! One of my top fav's.

This is in no way meant to understate Tom's greatness or his long list of fabulous characters, but Les Grossman still blows my mind every time I see him. EPIC!

Looking back now that was one of the greatest movies the cast was awesome the actors crushed it. I love that movie

The whole idea of a cult, whether it's scientology, islamic fundamentalism, or even marxist ideology, is that you're so on board that you would find doing whatever it takes in the name of that set of principals that you would even find murder justified, potentially. Folks are different, we're individuals. Being a part of a given group doesn't make someone a bad person, agreeing with/furthering bad principals and doing or abetting bad actions are what can make someone bad, and even then only part of them I'm not defending scientology I know not that much about it. But I know that cruise is an awesome dude, as is uhhh leah remini not sure how you spell it, who also used to belong. Simply because they or anyone else belong to cult doesn't immediately make them evil, and it certainly doesn't erase awesome acts like sending every one of his friends and people he's had interactions with amazing cakes every single year, or taking the time to get to know the cast and crew of every project he's a part of : p

Even when the numbers are confirmed people who are in the cult today will steadfastly deny it. If you're saying what I think you're saying your worldview was only valid when anti-religion cults didn't exist/hadn't been documented yet. Now we know anti-religion cults are worse. Which makes sense. If your religion doesn't have "thou shalt not kill" of course people are gonna kill more freely. People still kill even when it's there.

Tropic Thunder is one of my favorite movies. He should do more comedic roles because Les Grossman was hilarious 😂 that Ben look 😆 Ben Stiller did a great job impersonating Tom a while back.

I honestly thought it was Paul Giamatti playing Les Grossman until I saw the end credits.

Conan made TC feel right at home, made him feel like he was on a space ship.

I feel like in a couple of years, old Tom is gonna do a gritty Breaking Bad type of show on Netflix or HBO, and is gonna be absolutely brilliant.

SO GREAT - I remember watching & thinking who is this actor - also thinking & saying to who I was with "this guy is unbelievable so great" took me a while to recognize Tom Cruise & had to watch the credits to be sure - he should have won best supporting actor

I admit: I'm really NOT a Cruise fan. But Les Grossman was pure GENIUS! In the theatre, I NEW that was him right away...and it was so refreshing. He had never played a role like that before. I like when actors can break away from typecasting and deliver a completely unexpected performance. Another great example is Jennifer Aniston from "Horrible Bosses" (now I didn't see that coming!).

Who's here after Tom brought Les to the set of MI7?.. 2020 once in a lifetime
