Toby was a man who even though he was famous he didn't act it. Some friends of mine were on vacation in Hawaii several years ago and sitting at the poolside bar. My friend Frank is a huge fan of Toby's. Toby and his band were staying at the same hotel and soon came and sat near my friends. They had a drink and soon began singing acapella versions of his songs. Frank filmed one but only one. One of the band members noticed and drew Toby's attention to Frank. Toby came over and introduced himself and asked to join my friends. They of course said yes and Toby sat and talked with them for almost an hour. He took pictures with then, paid their bar bill and had his manager give the four of them tickets with backstage passes to his show in two days. Frank was as giddy as a teen girl for weeks. It was all he talked about for a month. RIP Toby❤

The guys playing instruments in the house, that circle him outside when he is worshiping his cup are the writers of the song. When he heard it, he said it was the dumbest song he ever heard & he would record it if they were in it with him. He usually writes his own stuff but said he HAD to do this one. Said it reminded him of college.

I'm happy to finally see someone else that knows this. When the song first came out, I assumed he wrote it and shared it to Facebook. Just so happens that a family I've known since childhood are related to the Warren Brothers and they told me their cousins co-wrote it with the Beaver Brothers.

Toby Keith wanted to pitch a song to Willie Nelson for a duet, Willie started out the conversation with "What's the name of the song?" Toby replied "Whiskey for my Men, Beer for my Horses". Willie replied "I'm in." And a famous duet was born. Willie went into it with just the title.

One of the things I loved about Toby Keith is that he was never afraid to make fun of himself. So many of his songs are tongue in cheek or just catchy songs. There was no pretense at creating "art." He wrote some really good songs but then he also wrote silly songs that the "everyman" can relate to in life. "As good as I once was" and "Trailerhood" are two songs I think you should react to as well as the patriotic ones such as "American Soldier" and "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue."

The Red Solo cup is a favorite of anyone from the 70's and country keger parties out in the woods. No cup, no party! I swear, every guys car had at least a dozen spares in case of loss, breakage, or meeting the right girl! I met my wife at a keger, and I am thankful for Red Solo Cups! R.I.P Toby Keith. You may be gone, but never forgotten by country folk and veterans! BTW - He was a neighbor of Craig Ferguson and they were great friends. When Toby's mansion burned to the ground, Craig called him on vacation to tell him, and he said right...... Craig had to say you better call the local police and get back before he stated to believe him. They both lived in large county estates in Tennessee I believe. I will miss most his patriotism, and just being a genuine nice guy.

Toby Keith -musicgp1dt, on Monday Toby had replied to my comments Wow such a honor, in his replies their was a question Toby asked me, my response was I will respond in 3 hours, it did not happen it was to late to respond, next morning I turn on my phone to send a response, OMG to hear the news of Toby passing I went into shock still in shock.Tues night I received all of Toby and I UTube messages plus a photo and the word memorial on the photo, thx from the core of my heart who sent it to me. Early 80s while attending a summer fair in the South Western part of our province of Manitoba, the entertainment was a couple singing, one of their songs was Mockingbird, I managed to ask and received at the fair the song sang twice.Since that evening at the fair in the 80s Mockingbird is my all time favorite,a fabulous surprise when Toby and his daughter Krystal performed the song in later years everyday since I have listened to Toby and his daughter perform the song, top honors without hesitation to both for their performance.

Joe Nichols a country singer was smoking in the tub, he sings Brokenheartville. The Warren Brothers Brent and Brad are amazing songwriters . Dear Mr. God and Hey Mr. President never got played on the radio. The so called golfer dude is actually Jimmy Houston and is a sports fisherman . His fishing show is called Jimmy Houston Outdoors.

Great job! I have a few Toby Keith stories..... One of them from Vegas during a super bowl weekend - we can talk about that later. But one of my favorite Toby Keith stories is how his album, "White Trash with Money" came to be. His teenage daughter was having an argument with one of her best friends and out of frustration her friend hollered, "Yeah, will my dad says y'all are just white trash with money anyway" 🤣. So he wrote the song and titled his whole album after it. Ba-Bamm!!!

If I'm not mistaken, Willie Nelson stipulated the alcohol had to be real when they made the 'Beer for my horses'. Of course no alcohol was actually served to the horses. 🙃🙃
