They have cemented their legacy as two of the greatest players in US Soccer history. Champions in their sport, champions in the fight for gender equity and equal pay in sports. They have battled and won the respect of women everywhere, with young women and future professional athletes indebted to them for years to come.
Despite having proven greater success and generating more revenue than their male counterparts, they still had to fight for equity. But never ones to shy away from a fierce fight, they, along with their teammates, battled the US Soccer Federation for gender discrimination in both pay and working conditions, while simultaneously battling opponents on the field for the World Cup championship.
