Christen Press & Tobin Heath Protect What Matters Most | We Can Do Hard Things with Glennon Doyle

January ‎10, ‎2024
Three soccer legends and Glennon go on an epic double date! Our beloved Pod Squader, Christen Press, is back with Tobin Heath to share their revolutionary reimagining of what life and love look like when you protect the sacred - and the resistance in doing things quietly and privately, especially within the queer community.
How to be free and independent inside a relationship - and Tobin’s seven-year contract idea;
Christen and Tobin describe each other as soccer players and as people outside of sport - and how they handle conflict; and
Why they say, “Don’t look at us, look at our work” - and their current mission to build a sports media house for women.

    I don’t often listen to podcasts, because it’s hard for me to follow a discussion without being able to see the people talking. But I had to tune in for this episode! Really wish there was a full video recording of it tho 🙇🏻‍♀️

    Okay. I've slept on the 7 year contract concept...was sold on the reimagining of queer relationships. I can see how having an escape hatch might be attractive for a Gemini spirit...even if it's only hypothetical but a Capricorn might thrive best knowing the other person is as committed as they are. I think using the evidence of our parent's relationships/long commitments is full of holes. A promise to have and to hold is about intention and two insightful, reflective individuals would then work at making that promise everything they imagine a healthy relationship to be. I have begun relationships with the hidden mindset of review as we go...and when things broke down as they do, we were not equal in our resolve to grow. I think the heterosexual model that you are wishing to avoid often has all sorts of power imbalances and traditional wife/husband issues. The absolute best part of being in a lesbian relationship is that very female side we have in common that involves nurturing, communication, submission and dedication. There's a little bit of me that reads the 7 year contract as ambivalence but maybe it's an age difference thing. You are both too divine to risk losing...Don't you think?

    Contracts are meaningless. They get broken often. Living a committed life each day is what it’s about. Every day is a decision with or without a contract.

    @@patman9419 True...especially the living that commitment each day bit. I think my need would be for a partner who could feel comfortable committing to tomorrow. It might get rocky ahead but we plan on working together to maintain and build from here. ERGH!! It's confronting to realise that I might be romantic. What a revelation! These Podcasts are great therapy.

    But Abby is a Gemini too and has self confessed fear of abandonment. And is also a 7!! So it must be something else?
