    This was an amazing interview. People focus on one detail about her personal life, but her journey is amazing. I’d like to say I’m impressed by her resilience and drive to win during the last year, because the pressure must’ve been crushing from all sides and she took a step forward and owned it. Incredible mindset

    Awesome to see the amazing Ali Krieger! Followed her journey for years & remember so many key milestones…from her clinical PK to win the 2011 quarterfinal against Brazil in the 2011 WWC in Dresden, Germany (a game everyone remembers as the Rapinoe assist to Wambach to tie the game in the last seconds of Extra time) to her being the last to touch the ball in the 2019 WWC in Lyon, France to her last triumphant final game in the NWSL championship this past season…pure lieben!

    Ali is absolutely correct. The best team doesn't always mean you have the best players at each position. In the years the US women won, there were talented strikers or midfielders etc. all around the world. The USWNT has always managed to get the right funky eclectic mix of complimentary talent to work well together. This is their strength. The talent pool is deep and a creative coach would have a field day with this fact. Instead, Vlatko essentially wasted 5 years relying on the individual brilliance of our players to hide his lack of technica/tacticall ability. He had no idea HOW to construct this team because he didn't understand what made them successful in the first place. I'm hopeful Emma will find the right mix,

  • @michaelgoldberg518
    @michaelgoldberg5183 ай бұрын

    We all know Vlatko was the issue. From player selection to tactical setup to team mentality. Like Ali said, her club coach got it figured out and won it all in 8 mos & Vlatko had 4-5 yrs

Too bad Ertz couldn't go out on top....she's pure class and the true heart and soul the team should have modeled themselves after....her missing the previous months through injury and childbirth really hurt her impact on the young guns! Mal Swanson being hurt also messed up our attack as she had been in great form and had experience!

    Just because you are the best doesn't mean you work well with others. I always said the world cup group was a bad bunch of girls. They did not like one another and there were cliques. I'm not impressed with this line up for Gold Cup. I see the US struggling. Not because the other teams are better, but because the girls cannot work with one another for that common goal. Emma Hayes has her work cut out for her and it won't be resolved before the Olympics.

    There have been EIGHT women’s World Cups played in history since 1991. The USWNT has won 4 of them. They are FAR from “mediocre” because of one bad tournament. Getting rid of their former coach is going to make ALL the difference. I bet cold hard cash that they’re top podium at the Olympics this summer.

    As a sports fanatic, I'm embarrassed to admit that I didnt know who Ali was or what sport she played. That aside, is anyone going to talk about the elephant in the room? After doing research on Ali, she appears to be a white woman who was married to another white woman, and they adopted two black babies. Call me crazy, but the interview would have been more interesting to hear about those dynamics instead of listening to an ex soccer player talk about sports.

    I see where Krieger is coming from and respect her point of view. However, her comments on her experience when she first came into camp and comparing it to these new kids coming into a camp boils down to being a generational difference. Unfortunately, this generation are extremely entitled (problem that Krieger also pointed out) most don't believe that they need to fight for a spot they want it handed to them. They don't want to grind day in & day out to work for it like back in the day. No work ethic, no sacrifice, no humbleness only = failure. So yes, seems generational to me & unfortunately not only in sports. Anywas, now that Pinoe isn't there, it should make things easier, & with Hayes old school ethic & 0 issues saying it how it is, these kids either buckle up & work for it or they walk away to where they won't get told anything & be around yes people, but will eventually affect their growth in the game.

    i think the biggest saving grace to change the culture you're talking about is emma hayes. she's gonna single handedly save this team. she's a no-nonsense leader that this team needs and that vlatko definitely was not. she's not gonna tolerate any laziness/entitlement, especially with the pressure and expectations this team brings not only the players but also her as a coach. she has too much pride as a coach/leader and too much respect for the uswnt's image and history to not build the best team she can.

    Are there any black parents that adopt white children? If so, do we ask the parents how they "consider the responsibility" of raising kids that are "obviously not their birth parents"..."knowing how hard the race issue is.."? jeez.. Really?

    @@generatelle2907Are you against homosexual parents raising a kid? Because there is no proof they are less capable of raising a happy kid. And definitely they will raise a more accepting and open to diversity human-being.
