Wowwww! This is going to help me so much, now that I have 3 new Catasetums. I may bother you once spring comes about how much water to give it and how often and also when to and what to fertilize with once it’s ready for that. Other than my questions you did an amazing job in this video and I am so happy I met you at Tamiami😊🌸 Talk to you soon!

1:30 I have always heard that orchids that are in a rest period should not be watered, they even say that in nature they do not receive any type of rain because they "rot". This is not the case, you forget that, in nature, all orchids receive a daily humid bath from the dew that forms during the night when the temperature drops and the ambient humidity condenses. And this is more significant in the jungle and cloud forests.

Hello, what kind of catasetum is in the very beginning of this video starting at 17 seconds of this video? It is so beautiful and I only have one catasetum that I just got this summer, go thank you so much for this content. And I have one last question, I tend to go overboard and buy every orchid I see when I discover a new favorite (like catasetum). I have learned to wait because I end up finding out that there are others of this new kind that are much more to my liking. So can you tell me the names of a couple of your favorites? I would so appreciate it! And thank you in advance!

Hey Carlos, truly impeccable timing with this video, lol, but I have another question for you. At what point do you repot them into fresh media? Because I noticed that many of yours have already put out a significant amount of roots, as have mine, and now I’m afraid I’m going to damage them when I repot. Should I have repotted sooner, before the new roots emerged? Thanks Carlos, I appreciate the help and thanks again for the video. PS - loved your video from the Tamiami show, looked amazing! I’m off to the Paris expo this weekend...should be cool, a ton of international vendors - 3 days to break the bank 🤣, take care and happy growing 😉

Hey Bro, thanks! To answer your question, just like Roro041987 mentioned, you can repot as soon as you see the new growth or new roots emerge. You may repot at anytime during dormancy too (recommended) or wait until you see a new growth + roots. Many of the plants shown in the video can still grow in the same pot for about another year. Others can be genly repotted, but keep a close eye on the new roots. Don't apply to much pressure when potting in order to prevent any damage. No waaayy!!!! PARIS?! That's freaking awesome man! I hope you find a lot of really nice goodies there! I would go insane, what an extraordinary experience! Happy Growing!! - T.O.G

I have a catasetum frilly dorris. It just sprouted a new growth but it’s pseudobulbs are extremely shriveled and the larger is shrunken at base, and no there is not any rot. It’s in extremely dry conditions due to an Orchid pot... I did not water a lot I just lightly moistened the moss... was that the right thing to do? I have another who is not shriveled as it’s a much larger plant. It also has a good new growth and I just Potted it in a slightly larger pot... he’s growing new roots and I don’t plan on giving him water until you said... however tell me if I did the right thing with the smaller one... thanks.

Hello Sir. I have a seedling of Catasetum Black Magic, and I technically leave it growing outdoor under a tree with some good wind and some indirect sunlight. However, at some point, all four of the leaves looks weirdly yellow with some black spots. So I cut them off. It has been nearly two months now and I kept it moist. No new shoots at the moment. Shall I stop watering and let it dry until a new growth emerge? I grow it with a mix of charcoal, tiny rocks, and cover it with a layer of the moss. Please kindly advice. Thank you.

Hi Carlos, I've got a question maybe you can answer. I have a Ctsm tenebrosum that put out a growth this year and it gave me four flower spikes earlier this summer. My problem is that it has now started two new growths from that growth and I'm not sure what I should do with the plant. OK, I live in SW Florida so there is still a good three months (maybe four, depending on when we start to cool off) of growing season left but I'm not sure that is enough time for the plant to mature the new growths. Should I leave them on and just continue watering the plant until they mature or should I take the new growths off?
