Tire Upgrade on my Honda Rancher 350 - Sunf Power I A033

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video, we mount some new Sunf Power I A033 tires (a copy of a Maxxis Bighorn) on my Honda Rancher 350. They are SUPER beefy.

I am thinking of doing exactly what you have done here. I am looking at those tires. But did taking the old ones off and putting new ones on ding up the rims any?

  • @wrenchandrip

Nope the rims were fine. Im sure if you find a really crappy mechanic they could ding them though LOL

Hey, looking at putting these on my 2wd 2003 350 rancher...What size tires did you order? (link??) They look a lot bigger than stock when you compared them. Any issue with the rear rubbing? Looks like front has plenty of clearance. It looks like yours has the 12 inch front and 10 inch rear rims like mine. I found out yesterday that 4x4's they put 11" diameter rear rims on the 4x4 models. Kind of looks like you bought 24" fronts and 25" rears. They sell a set that is 25" front and rear and considering paying slightly more for those. Thanks!

my quad takes a 24x8-12 front and a 25x11-10 rear, and that is what i ordered in the sunfs off of ebay. if i could do it over, i would probably get the 25s front and rear like you mentioned, because the rears inflated bigger than stock. the rears don’t rub at all even at full travel, and the fronts look like they would have just enough room for the 25s (maybe get a tiny wheel spacer to be sure they wont rub on inner fender when at full lock). took a ride in snow, ice, and mud last weekend and gotta say... the tires work great. happy ripping! @@isaacvasquez2 FYI I ended up putting these ones on my 2003 350 rancher. I like them a lot. I had originally ordered the 25" ones, but they were 12" wide in the rear and was afraid they would hit muffler. My friend has a 4x4 rancher and he ordered these as well. (same 24" diameter but different rear rim width/diameter on the 4x4). hope this link comes through. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01E93HVB4

SunF are indeed a ripoff of Bighorn. Most notably, they are bias ply, whereas Bighorn 2.0 are radial ply. As far as I can tell, you never made this distinction (dude, they're so much cheaper!). Do you know why that matters? You never said so in the video. BTW, Bighorn 2.0 are of lighter construction compared to the original Bighorn, especially in the smaller sizes. Their sizing is also a bit different. Bighorn 3.0 are directional and differ front to rear. I did not consider 3.0 in my research for new tires, as they don't fit my performance criteria. I understand that they are excellent tires, however. The original Honda OEM tires indeed, are pretty decent if plain looking. They work well. Judging a tire's performance on how it looks is how we got to 20" rim Iroks. For reference: I was seriously looking at SunF as a replacement tire for my Honda Pioneer 500. I learned that they didn't have quite the size I wanted, and that they were indeed bias ply. SunF are cheap, but not so much cheaper as to dismiss Bighorn 2.0. I'm glad I went with the Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 (BTW, OEM Honda tires are from Maxxis also). I think I would have ultimately been frustrated with the SunF option.

@@wrenchandrip I'm glad they do! I may have come across as overly harsh, I didn't mean to. I have to say though, with more miles on my Bighorn 2.0 tires, I'm very happy with the ride quality. They are a vast improvement over my previous tires. I made some other changes, mostly size and mounting location, so it's not quite an apples to apples comparison.
