Hey Doug great video. In the read outs does it show trim?

Did you wire it up? What about running wires to and connecting to motor? Did you have to make a network that needs to be connected to a power source or run straight to unit from motor?

Whats the part number of the nmea kit? I am looking for the cable that runs from the black box to a nmea t connector. Thanks

If my boat has a nema 2000 under the console do I still need a starter kit?

Hi Doug, thanks for this very nice video! H'birds website is really missing documentation regarding Nmea2k capabilities with their units... Quick question regarding the fuel gauge. Do you need to have an NMEA 2K tank sensor to get data into the gauge or you can set somewhere in the system that you have a 40 gal tank (with a refuel option) and you get real time tank view? I know that comptetitors are providing this feature hope it's native with my Helix... Thank you very much for your feedback

I'm just beginning to learn NMEA 2K and then god froze Missouri and haven't got back on the water to learn more. The HELIX will read data from the NMEA 2K Network and if it has Fuel Tank Sensor I think it will read that data. I think Skeeter has that as part of their NMEA 2K data because I have it on the Skeeter Multifunction Gauge. When it thaws out my goal is to get more video on the water with NMEA 2K.

HELIX 10 DI G2N or HELIX 10 SI G3N forgot which one I filmed but both the same as far as NMEA 2000 Data

Doug, can you plug into a NMEA network you already have that is running to Lowrances? I have both Humminbirds and Lowrances on my Skeeter.

Just need to add a T & extension cable to connect to existing NMEA 2000 Backbone.

Will that black box not work on the solix? I have the black box and the engine adapter and was going to hook it up tomorrow.

Not needed since SOLIX is full integrated NMEA 2K Compatibility.

Doug, what engine? Are you going to post a video showing the NMEA working on the water?

Yamaha 250 SHO. I want to get a NMEA 2000 Video on the water but other projects have come in the way. Hopefully soon.

The reason I bought the nmea 2000 was to get my Yamaha engine hours. I cannot seem to find the setting on my helix GEN three. Can you help.

play with the select readouts page. I have a Yamaha sho 150 and can see engine hours on the numbers only screen not the gauge layout screen.

Does this work with a Helix 9 Gen 1 SI?

All HELIX Networkable units can add the Blackbox to get NMEA 2K Data including the HELIX 9 Gen 1.

Depends on HELIX 7. It would have to be the Ethernet Compatible G2N if the HELIX 7 offers NMEA 2000 Support. Give Hummibnird a call they can tell you 800-633-1468

Will this read codes?

It does not read motor codes.

Need to get better lighting and could use a white board to draw it out. instructions hard to follow

Any motor that is NMEA 2000 Compatible. You'll need to ask the engine manufacturer if your motor is NMEA 2000.

1997 is prior to NMEA 2000 protocol being invented. Your not going to be able to link that motor.

You need the Yamaha Interface kit from Yamaha then to connect NMEA 2000 Backbone.
