    In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens kzread.infoUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

    Thanx man! I just picked up me Helix 10 GN2 SI MEGA. A lot of great information here and a lot of questions answered. I’m going to the parts store for heavier wire and a solder gun now. Hopefully they have ferrite rings also.

    7:23 The 6.25" RAM mount holes line up with Humminbird 12 gimbrel mount holes. RAM-D-115-E is the one I got. It has the long arm. No extra mounting plate hanging over and no drilling required. The part number for 6.25" mounting plate only is RAM-D-115BU. Hope this helps someone. It looks a lot cleaner. Great Video though! Thanks!

    Hey man, you never did put up a link on where to get the ferrite rings. Do you use them around the cables at your trolling motor too?

  • @gonzoivxx9146
    @gonzoivxx91463 жыл бұрын

    You can run your wires on the same side as the trolling motor usually it will be easier. Just make sure you separate your wires by using conduit, braided cable sleeve, or cable wrap all the way along said cables.

  • @bobbreckenkamp4641
    @bobbreckenkamp46413 жыл бұрын

    Great video but one question......did you infer early in the video that the wire from the bow mounted Helix should be separate from the wires going from the trolling motor to their respective batteries? That would seem to mean the wire from the Helix bow should be run down the starboard side of the boat (assuming the trolling motor wiring is run down the port side). Sorry if I am being overly thick here, but getting ready to buy a couple of these and want to have a clear game plan. THANKS!!

    I connected my Lowrance unit to the trolling motor battery because the unit would go off each time I started the motor and the voltage dropped for an instant. That auto turning off was built into the unit. I had no problem I know of with interference. I just got a Helix 12 DI and ran a new #12 wire from the trolling motor battery. What will interference look like and will it interfere with the GPS. Thank you for your informative videos.

    Hey, question. I’m about to install a bow mount helix 10 g3n, how can i be certain that my cranking battery can supply enough power with the other accessories on my boat? Also, did you run power cords from the unit directly to the battery or use the fuse box connection at the console? Thanks in advance!

    At 5:28 you mention wrapping medical tape or Hockey Tape around the power connections on the unit. I can probably get the medical tape. Your talking just a normal white tape right? How many wraps are you making around each post? I have had a few times where attaching the unit and it moves and disconnects. Even though I always try to press on good and tight.

    Great thanks. I might take this Humminbird back to Cabela's. It has been a total can of worms. The ACL is not all that good, Humminbird support sucks, My sonar 2D isn't very good, I had to buy a bigger battery so the unit won't shut off, dedicated wire from battery to unit. The bigger battery helped and no shut down today. The sonar I'm using two transducers one for 2D and the Si. Maybe I should try just using the one transducer that came with the unit by itself. I have the 2D Transducer on the transom. At first it seemed to work better. The Si was ok today but I got better screens when I first bought it.. A few times I thought I had it dialed in OK. We got the Helix 12 Chirp Mega Si G2N. I sold my Garmin unit to help pay for the Helix and sort of wish I kept the Garmin. Garmin's side imaging is not so good. Their mapping is way better than Humminbird's ACL card. I have 90 days to return it to Cabela's and I'm getting close to throwing in the towel. Still not sure but I'm thinking return it before we are stuck with it. The reason I say Humminbird support sucks is I have been given bad information a number of times. The unit powering off I was told to ship it to Humminbird. That cost a lot to do with boxing up, shipping and insurance. Humminbird shipped it back with nothing found. I called and the support person told me nothing was found with the unit. You didn't send the transducer so we can't tell you if that is what is wrong. I was told NOT to send the transducer twice. Really frustrating that their support isn't very good.

    Seems a little too big, and cost prohibitive for a bass boat. May be worth it if you are a pro, or if you could watch the big game on it while you fished. Either way it would be in the way a lot, up front anyway. This is an informative video on setting up a fishfinder though. Good tips for any size unit.
