Tips 'N Tricks 229: Vertical Sonar Fishing with Humminbird HELIX

Спорт

"Video Game Fishing" or Vertical Fishing with Sonar. Here are some tips and tricks that I do when Vertical Fishing. Adjust the sensitivity until you see the fish and bait clearly, Set Sonar to Max Mode and if fishing suspended fish adjust the Bottom Depth to increase the data on the display to make it easier...then drop the bait in the sonar coverage area and enjoy catching.

    In Minnesota, I catch crappies in that depth just after ice out and in the fall. Next time I will set my depth range like you did there. Sometimes I see my jig and sometimes I don't. Now I think I know how to see my jig every time. In the warmer months maybe I'll see if the bass or even walleyes are down in those depths. Deepest part of my lake is 84 feet. Depths more like 30's and 40s are more realistic for fishing.

    Definitely the best video game fishing video I have seen so far! Just realistic and clear! I only saw videos catching fishes all the time, which upset me a lot as I thought I was doing something wrong or I misinterpreted the fishfinder. But your story told me and confirmed me I was seeing fishing and scared the fish anyway lol. Thanks! I got my confidence back and will give it another try. Just a quick question: I usually fish from kayak. Will it be too late to drop bait when I see the fish on graph, since the kayak always drifts a bit?

    Hi Doug Vahrenberg We must bite the grass. Garmin has come with Garmin panoptix livescope. It looks fantastic. I have always used Humminbird and have ordered the new Solix G2 but it does not come to Denmark until February But has now also bought Garmin panoptix livescope and is going to mount in the boat.

    Look at the limited coverage area. And how you have to control where it looks with the trolling motor. I was in a boat with it looks cool but day I seen it was windy and hard to stay on where the fish where at. Why I prefer 360 Imaging. I can see so much more.

    You can adjust to what ever level works best for you. the smaller the coverage area the larger the data. Just depends on how deep the fish are and what you need to see

    Hey Doug, great video! It didn't look like you varied your jigging speed or vertical height with the spoon to entice a bite. Do the fish look for different presentations when vertical fishing, or are you always using a consistent jigging action?

  • @DougVahrenberg

    @DougVahrenberg

    5 жыл бұрын

    I vary from time to time height, speed reel up, drop farther to get them to react. Most of these it seemed like they like more consistent movements. But lots of little things I do to get them bite.

    Wind makes it difficult...spot lock helps a bunch or lots of practice or use a heavier weight lure to drop faster to see quickly and catch quickly before the wind blows you away.
