Oh my goodness, I can't believe that today is the very first time that I have ever seen one of your tutorials. I have been avidly watching UT watercolor artists for over a year and have never seen one of yours. I absolutely love this pen and ink. Your use of such vibrant colors and your initial sketch were simply exquisite. Now that I have found you, of course, I immediately subscribed and will be binge watching any and all of your other tutorials. I am in hopes that there are many more watercolors and I am also interested in dipping my toes into both gouache and acrylics. Obviously you are a fantastically talented artist with a super positive outlook. I am so excited to have found you today!👩‍🦳🖌️

@jesskarp, thanks as always for another great video- watching this channel is a major highlight of our week! The line quality and sensitivity of a fountain nib is unlike anything else! Jess is very chic and every drawing and painting instrument looks so elegant when she's using them, but a fountain pen is one smart-looking accessory that can give every artist confidence while they work. We're so glad the issue of waterproof ink for fountain pens was addressed here! Using a piston converter does let the artist flush out between colors and refill with practically any fountain-safe ink, but there aren't that many waterproof options that won't clog the feed mechanism. Artists should always pay attention to the label on the inkwell before filling a pen! BTW, if anyone here is using Utrecht Professional Watercolors in your art, we'd love to hear from you! And also, right now we're informally surveying artists who pre-fill palettes with tube watercolors to make your own custom pan assortments, which brands you think work best for this (good re-wetting, minimal shrink & cracking, etc.) Thanks again!

Yes and as coming with a fine tip they are more sophisticated than the paint marker used in this video, which made a bit of a snowy effect to the painting. Of course, this is a question of personal taste but I would have stopped at around 9:16 of this video. That was the perfect finished stage for me.

I love this. I have concentrated far too long on every little detail with acrylics and it sort of becomes a chore after a while. I've tried this technique by painting the hospital where I work and I was overwhelmed by just how much fun it was. Really big thanks 👍

Wow! Thank you so much for making this video, I learnt a lot about how to go from a simple ink sketch to adding lots of colours to then refining the overall composition and adding depth, shading and textures. I will definitely be trying these techniques to create a beautifully layered scene.

Love this, found it by accident. I've been painting in watercolor for a couple of years. I also do graphic sketches. I found I was sketching then doing the detail sketch with waterproof pens. The magic you feel when you finish the waterproof sketch and erase the original pencil sketch! Then adding my watercolor. Never knew this was a 'style'. Love Plein Air-pencil/waterproof pen and then watercolor. Love this tutorial. Thank you.Barbara

Your water colors are always incredible, the on location pen and water colors you've done in the past has always blown my mind. But even this controlled planned out piece is still just so amazing. Thanks for sharing it with us.

This piece is absolutely gorgeous I love the wet technique that you showed with the buildings however I think for me this is a little above my art ability. I might just try and because I have done other works of yours and they’ve come out beautifully. You truly are an artist of the ages. This is super interesting. I was inspired by one your earlier videos to look on Google Earth for a building I passed on the bay, and sketched that in pencil. This video had more helpful tips for inking and the way you lay down your watercolors compared to the image and build each experience of color. Looking forward to trying out colors for my sketch.
