Tiny Frontiers Revised is a rules-ultralight scifi tabletop RPG by Alan Bahr of Gallant Knight Games. It uses the “Tiny D6” system.
I have also reviewed Tiny Dungeon 2e, also by Alan Bahr. Here is that review: • Tiny Dungeon might be ...

This game is good, but really needed just one bit to make it better. The ability to do Star Wars as all games will eventually becomes Star Wars of Call of Cthulhu. It is a law of nature. So, I fixed that. I added another Psionics category in addition to the ones in the game. I called it Precognition Trait. Here are its four powers. 1. As an action you can use any handheld object as cover by picking it up and moving it for one full turn. Attackers must roll at a disadvantage (1D6) as normal for being in cover, but only a 6 will hit you. A 1 or 2 will deflect the range attack back and hit the shooter automatically, and 3, 4, or 5 will deflect away in a harmless direction. 2. Boost your next skill roll. As an action make a Standard Test to clear your mind. If successful, then your next focus action is a 1-2 fail, 3-6 success. If you fail, you cannot use this ability again until the scene is over, or the GM can set a duration. 3. Meditate for a vision as a Standard Test. If successful, the GM should give you additional clues or storyline insights/hints. Failure means you cannot use this ability until the scene is over, or the GM can set a duration. 4. You had a feeling. Roll a standard test, and if successful then you can retroactively have brought along an item or spoke to another character in the past, even though this has not been roleplayed until now.

I haven't played it yet but I have 1e Tiny Frontiers and just recently bought Tiny Supers. I plan on using these primarily for solo RPG play (particularly Supers) and some one on one sessions with my buddy. For those purposes, I am totally in love with this line of RPG's.

There is an RPG I've read about that is similar to the Tiny D6 engine based on the wildly popular Adventure Game "Hollow Knight", where the main difference is that the number of dice you roll is based on your stats. There are other differences, such as no EXP, but It's worth a read.

I own many of the Tiny D6 books on PDF. I've been wanting to try doing a solo game with these mechanics. Maybe I'll get it started some time soon here.

Nice review. Personally I am a bit torn on the way the author has suddenly opened the proverbial flood gates on releasing 'setting after setting' of the TinyD6 game. Seems a bit like a money grab to me, especially when there is so much of the cut and paste from Tiny Dungeons 2 to the others (literally word for word), as well as number of elements in a few of these 'clones' like his Tiny Supers that feel a bit under developed... but too each their own. Still, it is a nice review. Lastly, @4:30... "half of the book is COMPROMISED of 12 micro settings"... maybe it should have been "comprised". Please keep up the fantastic work of the reviews that you bring, they are some very welcome additions to the ocean of 'meh' reviews out there on the net.

Using the system for some time, I was curious about how you think that space combat is managed? How many actions do the ships actually have? Because if it's 2 for each ship it's too little for a team of players. If it's as many actions as players, how do you manage the enemy threat?

I hope you have an opportunity to return to this line. Gallant Knight Games has been very busy, and I would appreciate your perspective. Also, I would encourage you to check out Supers! RED from Hazard Studios. It was the superhero game that replaced Mutants & Masterminds for me.

Any ideas on how this system could be used to play in the warhammer 40k setting? I was thinking of a space marine one-shot, but the wrath and glory rules seem a bit too complex for me.

Thanks! You could probablyeliminate a few details on the character sheet and the TinyD6 system would work fine for a 5-year-old. I'd also try to keep a whole session at around 30-45 minutes max.

My 4 year old plays rpgs with us, he likes the d20. I just get him to beat a ten every time he rolls. 13 if its hard, 7 if its easy. I ask him what he looks like, what is he good at, what powers does he have. Any time they come into play it makes the task easy. I let him get hit 10 times before he goes down. Has loads of fun. No rules needed. Never let the rules get in the way of a good story. 👍🏻

2 words: STAR FRONTIERS. Easy enough to learn and play. Not quite as simplistic to the point of craptacular like the Tiny series of games. Amazing setting. It's all any scifi nerd needs unless they want more crunch, in which case there is Traveller.

Star Frontiers. Has powered armor and aliens, beam weapons and I'm sure you can make the stats for a space dragon but why when you can try and get killed by a pack of hungry Quickdeaths native to Volturnus.@@rommdan2716

Hey, I'm a super fan of Star Frontiers. It's got a combat system for fast combat mixing melee, ranged, aerial and vehicle combat and it gives (or attempts to give) precise percentage odds based on combat modifiers to suit your situation. But I'm not against people trying for simpler RPG systems.
