@@SSkorkowsky I'd really like to mash these rules with TBH. That would add all the diversity and growth it needs, and allow a lot of compatibility. The exp system of TBH is already quite similar, and if you also use the classless hack supplement, you'd have a very special system.

Regarding Imperial Units, they say there are two kinds of countries in the world. Countries who have landed a man on the moon and Countries which use the metric system. Love the reviews. Don't fear the math.

  • @AGrumpyPanda

See that would work if it weren't for the fact that every lunar landing used the metric system. In fact, one of the most significant disasters in the space program was because everyone else was using metric and one company used imperial instead.

@@AGrumpyPanda Settle son, it's a joke. But someone forgot to tell the Apollo 11 guys they were using metric: kzread.info/dash/bejne/eKCk1daRfs2vnbw.html And, the Apollo and Space Shuttle blue prints are all imperial. (I wouldn't know, I only built them.) The first thing an Engineer learns is converting units. The first thing International Space Commission learn is how to not find the real problem. Consider this your schooling for the day.

I know I'm 2 years late, but I want to give you a commendation. Not enough people out there stick up for the old Imperial (or as I learned it, the "Customary") measurement system. Feels like everyone in the world falls over themselve to lament when individual cultures "modernize" or "Westernize" or whatever other "-ize" strips them of their individuality, but as soon as you suggest that it's not that much work to do measurements in something other than base 10s, everyone is screeching about what a caveman you are. Keep on keepin on, friend.

Good Review, I was on the fence about buying this game until you made a video review of Tiny Frontiers. I bought Tiny Supers and Tiny Fantasy instead and wow, its a nice slick system. I like it, but I think with a little work the system could be used for a good long campaign. I see why you would only use it for one shots, I have examined all sorts of rules lite systems. Fate, One D6, elemental and out of all of these products this is the simplest to use. I like it and I plan on buying Tiny Frontiers next. Lets face it , I will probably buy all of them. I still need Tiny wasteland, tiny mecha and Monsters and Tiny Gods. What are my plans for this system, well as an experiment I plan on doing two things with this game line. 1. I plan on converting all of my ICRPG material into this system, using Hankerins ideas in the Tiny system for a campaign in his universe. 2.This might seem silly to you because you are a Palladium fan and probably like the crunch of those games, but I plan on also converting the ideas of the Palladium megaverse into this line of products. I think with some tweaking and by combining all the books together I can play Rifts in this system with no trouble. 3. I plan on transferring all of the ideas and Kung Fu techniques from Weaopons of the Gods to Tiny Fantasy. I think the ideas of that game will be served well by combining the ideas of that game into Tiny Fantasy and Tiny Gods.

I wouldn't recommend the revised edition. If you do get revised, pick up the original as well (it's pay what you want on Drive Thru RPG). The new version doesn't have mech rules, the bestiary seems to be deliberately useless, and most of the new skills are redundant. eg. There are 2 shield skills. Exact same rules under different names. It does have expanded ship building rules though.

Hahaha oh Jack what are you wearing! Space cape 😂. These days I just don't have the time to master crunchy games (damn you adult life) so if I'm going to pick up a new game it needs to be quite simple. Of course the trade off is a lack of detail which Tiny Frontiers seems to suffer from. However, I only get to game maybe twice a month so that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make. Incidentally it's worth remembering that there are only two types of countries, those who use the metric system & those who've landed on the moon 🌙😜

If your looking at something a little more in depth, I play tested and purchased "Planet Mercenary" also written by Alan Barr, I think from the review it uses a similar system, but set in the www.schlockmercenary.com world written by Howard Taylor. Obsolete blast of a game, and with Mercenary companies at your disposal, Mayhem cards for added comedy, it's awesome. If you wanted to give it a go, I'd be happy to buy you a copy. Been enjoying your work for a while, would be nice way to pay you back a little.

You're wrong about the Metric System. It was created and forced on people by the French during The Terrors. They also tried to shove a 100 second minute, and 10 day weeks on folks. All this lead to a lot of suicides and other bad things! The Imperial system is based on Human Utility. The Yard is the length of an arm. A mile is a stiff walk. The second is based on the human heartbeat. If the Meter hadn't been close to a yard, the distances would have been eliminated by now, too.

It still isnt based on human utility, which is what developed naturally. And, if you havent noticed, there is always some yahoo in the world claiming their system is better, and the old ways are passé. It's how we wind up with things like skyrocketing peanut allergies because doctors started saying "keep peanuts away from your kids until they are older". Or "you need to be triple boosted, even though you had it and got over it and have natural resistance now"
