Even amongst savage animals, I've always wondered why chimpanzees and lions in their respective ecosystems have played a zero-sum game. I later reached that uncomfortable conclusion from the travailed wisdom of an old man: "If they fight against you to win, just remember that it's a lie that any human being would remember to be fair or moral in order to win a battle. They'd always remind you that you're not fair or magnanimous enough when you're winning and not graceful enough when you're losing. It's your sole job to know how to win. Be as cunning as a snake and as meek as a sheep." If anyone can very well discern the thoughtfulness in this use of reason for a statement, you'd already figure out that corruption has been the second nature of human politics, whether that's the Western World many Africans all look up to, or the pastors and Muslim clerics we look on to for spiritual guidance. They don't have to rig an election for you to lose it. But they can play subtly play the Muslim or the Yoruba card the same way you played the Igbo or the Christian card. It's such an unfair world. But it is what it is.

Nigeria is either a democracy or it is not. It cannot allow these politicians with anti-democratic tendencies to prevail. Why is Imo State governor trying to institute high fees, if not paid that would prevent other governorship candidates from campaigning freely in the state as guaranteed by the constitution. These people are afraid of voters choosing who they want to represent them, but that's the essence of democracy.

Hope uzodimma knows that if he can't surprise other party he will fail.

Dr Amadi, I thought what we see with the parties are not unusual in the stages of team/ party development. They will go through forming, storming, norming, performing and adjourning stages. Both PDP and APC are still at the storming stage. PDP might have move to the next stage had they won 2015 presidential election which might have given them opportunity to consolidate. So don't let us sound as if what is happening to each them is not normal. A child will crawl before walking.

23 years of democratic practice is a considerable time to expect a bit of maturity of the political parties. What we see of the political parties is a reflection of the nature and dynamics of the larger society. The propensity to behave in a lawless manner and with impunity in Nigeria will reflect on the elements within it.

Let us suppose that your statement holds true. In light of his political approach, do you believe he would emerge victorious in a municipal election within any Western nation? There exists a significant disparity between politics and corruption, and at times, we Nigerians tend to blur the lines between the two. He has become highly adept at engaging in corrupt practices and resorting solely to the use of money to retain his hold on power. It is important to recognize that politics and democracy are distinct entities. Consequently, he will never attain the status of a democratically elected individual in any capacity in Nigeria, not even in Lagos or his own state.

Between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, for a most recent example, $13B was spent on electioneering and you think the Democratic Party wouldn't cut all the uncomfortable statewide deals with politicians of a largely different political ideology they need to make their candidate win? Or the Republican Party wouldn't fight back by knowingly and illegitimately crying foul over a free and fair election they lost? As it's with the time-beaten nature of man, corruption is an inherent feature of politics. They'll never be separate till the end of eternity arrives.
