When I dig into my engine I START by cleaning it up to prevent crap from getting into the mechanicals. It's never perfect, but better than struggling with dirt build up the whole way through a repair. Those valve covers and timing cover never would have come off my engine in that condition.

I never knew the car would only crank if you pushed down on the gas pedal and clutch at the same time. I always pulled the fuel pump fuse before cranking the engine. my 66 GT has 106K so I am sure I am not far from having to do what you did....nice job!!

Put together very well, makes it look much more simple. I hope this never happens to my motor though. 🤫

Hey Danny sorry to bother you, but since your engine is a Romeo I would like to know how many lbs of torque you put on the Timing Cover bolts because I was checking the manual and there is a diference between the Romeo and the Windsor engine; I will really apreciate it if you can give me any advice. Thank you very much.

Same Job to do now on my Towncar here in Austria...;-(...how did you reseal the Oilpan in the rear? Only install it back with the old gasket in?

Yes, if the old gasket is still fine just put it back together. If you see it’s been torn or broken add some gasket maker

The reluctor wheel. What does it do?

  • @dannyjohnsonsgarage

The crankshaft position sensor reads the teeth as they go by and measures when the notch is missing, telling the computer the position of the crankshaft at top dead center

@@dannyjohnsonsgarage On that subject. I have a Mod Max 4340 forged stock stroke crank. I was told I need the correct reluctor wheel for it. Will the stock one off the 2001 Windsor work? It fits no problem.
