‘Time to revise theoretical positions’: D Raja on communists, caste, Buddha | What’s Your Ism

D Raja, the general secretary of the Communist Party of India, says a communist revolution is not possible in India by only focussing on economic concerns.
In this special two-part episode on What's Your Ism, Sudipto Mondal earlier spoke to the CPIM’s Sitaram Yechury. In this part, Raja reflects on the role of BR Ambedkar and the Buddha in shaping his communist ideology, Modi’s India, and international conflicts.
Although communists have traditionally been at loggerheads with identity movements, Raja says it's time to revise the theoretical positions held by classical Marxists. He also talks about why the CPI and the CPIM continue to be separate political parties despite being ideological twins.

Good interview with Mr. Raja. Mr. Mandol you should have many more such interviews who bask around as leaders of the underprivileged. Good luck.

Modi ka hindutva agenda is only to strengthen castes system and only the 20% high class will be benefitted and the rest remains suppressed and exploited. This clearly contradict Dr.Ambedkar' s principles.😮

Very true sir, as far as caste is concerned it is deep rooted in the minds of indian society. The fact of the matter is caste continue to play a very important role in our family way of life however progressive one may call himself. The communist particularly the CPI which understands the pulse of the indian society in deapth, always plays a balance role in understanding and taking the people along with it. It may take some more time for the CPI to address the country's one of the biggest problem. Caste.

You published the old interview late now and in the two part series you published the second part first. Anyway, @44:00 You Here also Alexander Duagin as Putin's adviser. Wait, what? Duagin is well known right wing philosopher in Moscow, at most you can say he has influences in Putin's party and Putin Philosophically. But call Duagin as adviser to Putin and Putin makes decision on strategic importance based on this fake, non existence adviser is just ignorance on your part and to be honest stupidity, you are regurgitating western propaganda. Putin is not modi, he embraces multi cultural multi ethnic, multi religious Russian federation despite his heavy handed state power and right wing cultural ideology, but he is educated, knowledgeable and talented. Unlike Modi, who only receives 38% support of Indian people, Putin receives majority of Russian people support. SO, maybe you need to learn before ask your talking point as questions.
