One thing I can say is that this family is the most handsome family of all the gorilla families I've watched. Gentaro & Kintaro are Beautiful 💖 all the babies of course, are beautiful too but these two boys are growing up to be very handsome. Lucky the girl who gets to mate with Gentaro 😊

I always say this but Gentaro will always be my little guy ♥️. Love his innocence & kind eyes.

Although Gentaro is eleven years old, in my opinion from watching him for some time now he seems immature, I wonder if he is ready to start a family of his own yet. Poor Kintaro will miss him so much his brother and playmate. This is such a special gorilla family

Possibly the fact that he was separated from his mother Genki for his first ten and a half months is relevant to that. In a gorilla society, a baby gorillas never leaves his/her mother for the first twelve months around the clock.

Watching my favorite gorilla family...the perfect break in the work day. Kintaro's lucky to have a father, mother and older brother. And though he was initially raised by humans, Gentaro is also lucky to have been integrated back into his family unit. It's been wonderful watching him grow over the years.

I strongly disagree. He would have been better off with literally any other group with gorillas his age. He basically grew up in isolation until Kintaro came.

Everyday Gentaro gives me joy and I think his affection for mama is truly deep. Though he is exactly on his way to a beautiful silverback, he still has innocent eyes of mom's boy that charm us. I want to say him thus, you're my favorite boy and wherever you'll go, I'll be with you in my mind. I'm sure the happy time with your beloved mama will become a lasting memory of you forever. I love the way you love Gentaro. It's really sweet to read.I have loved seeing him grow and transform into a "grown up",* but his face and eyes still say Baby"

Gentaro has always been my favourite He had a difficult start but with the live & care of his keeper's he got through it & remained in constant close contact with his family. He loves his family, little Kintaro has learnt so much from him, Genki has always tried to make time for Gentaro but it's not easy for her as kintaro takes up so much of her time & attention. But luckily for Gentaro his Dad has been awesome & the two still share a very precious bond. Gentaro will be an amazing silverback in time, I hope we get to watch him grow & have a family of his own , I'll miss watching him, he's such a loveable rouge & once the shock of leaving his family wear's off I hope he has a good life with people who will continue he's learning & support him in anyway he needs 😘😘😘😘

I agree, I love Gentaro to death. I strongly disagree, ive never seen Genki do anything caring for Gentaro and I watch these videos all day. I do agree, Gentaro amazes me with how well he has seemed to cope with it all and I do not blame him for attacking Genki. I actually like it when he does that.

Kinny looks at his dad and thinks”Dang! I want to look like that! But have a soft spot for the ladies like my bro!”😏🫶🏽

Yeah, I think it's time for him to meet his lady friend and form a family on his own.

Gentaro is soo lucky that in a few years he will be leaving that small enclosure for possibly a large beautiful one with plenty of fruits and a variety of delicious vegetables and not so much grass. Gentaro will be a fair and loving silverback unlike his own. Gentaro is very lucky to have the chance to move into a better living arrangement. I feel sorry for Momo though, he is stuck.

In both size and weight , Gentaro went over Genki.

ももたろうパパの1歳位のを映像で見たのですが身体は1歳位の身体でも前の手の大きかった事しっかりと歩いていてゲンタロウ君とは違いますね。矢張り母乳の力はすごいんですね。飼育員さんに大切に育てて貰っても人工保育とは違うのかもです。まだまだげんき母さんに甘えてゆっくりとゴリラ人生を歩んで下さい。優しいお兄ちゃんでキンタロウ君と仲良く遊んであげて下さいね。

そうかもですね。キンタロウもしばらく補助食品を貰っていましたからね。ゲンキさんの母乳の出があれだったのか？そこまでは分からないですけども。ある飼育員さん曰く、ゲンキはゲンタロウを生む時に時間がかかったそうです。時間がかかると、母乳の出に影響が出るようです。たぶんその影響だろうと飼育員さんは思ってるそうです。 ps 詳しく聞きましたが、上手く説明できないのですみません。

Love the subtitles. I wonder why they didn't put caps or implants while they had Genki under. Hiromi is one unique female, I have never seen another look quite like her, just like Zola in America, I have never seen a Silver with a nose like his.

Have you heard clearly all information on my talk live streaming ? Gentaro urinated blood becuase of nerversness but thanks to Genki's motherhood , Gentaro was able to survive.

Gracias a ustedes.. sin sus videos no conoceria a esta hermosa familia Momotaro, donde e aprendido a quererlos y a compartir su vida rutinaria. Si algun dia Gentaro es separado de su familia solo espero que sea Feliz esté donde esté y seguro que poco a poco se adaptará ...es un Buen y Noble gorila... sólo me preocupa su hermanito Kintaro que para él, Gentaro es su Gran Hermano y compañero de juegos , lo ama mucho , ha aprendido tanto de él. 海外には、一時避難が出来るエスケープという箇所を作ってるゴリラ舎があるそうです。小さな小部屋です。そういうのを事前に作れ良かったのになぁ～と。

It's about time; get him away from his Father that only tolerates him, and the Mother who ignored him for the favorite little brother. Gentaro needs to be somewhere where he'll be respected, and hopefully he will have a family of his own. I'll miss seeing him.

"Time for Gentaro to become independent from Mom". Ha, and how might that happen, live on the other side of the cage? He needs to get OUT!

キンタロウは千葉から来たからその代わりに子供は千葉に譲るという事なんでしょうね。 繁殖を考えるとメスを増やすのが良いとは思うけど、メス同士は相性悪いと喧嘩ばかりするので、ゲンキの精神状態が心配だし今の体制が良いと思うけど、ゲンキも後、一回チャンス有るか無いかだし、ほんと国内だけでは繁殖難しいけど、頑張って保持して欲しい。

そうですね。ゲンキはあと一人産めるかどうかです。もし産めないとなると、モモタロウが移動する可能性もありますね。どちらにせよ、ゲンキに繁殖能力が無くなる時は、モモタロウはまだまだ若いので繁殖可能ですから、移動するでしょう。繁殖を考えるとそうなるだろうなと個人的に思います。でなければ、モモタロウを京都市動物園にいるとゲンキさんのメンタルを考えると、他のメスを入れるのはリスクがある。つまり繁殖ができません。海外からゴリラを望めない現状を考慮すると致し方ないです。

I read many comments about gorillas physique, they told "Momotarou growth so fast and be Silverback just 10 because his dad or another Silverbacks not in his troop" or "If male gorillas have Silverbacks in their troop they couldn't grow fast" Is it true? PS. Biju from England and Momoko from Spain right? So, Momotarou is half English-Spanish who was born in Japan? Loool

Gentaro is very jealous of Kintaro if Momma gives him any attention and then holds a grudge too long, even though he loves his little brother so much. Gentaro has some issues.

His Papa Momotaro matured very young , a silverback at 10 years old is rare. He was raised by just his Mother as his father had passed away. 🙋‍♀️🦍🇬🇧

Momotaro has no choice but to turn into a silverback earlier. As GLYNIS answered, there were no other silverbacks or male gorills in his surrounding. Therefore his physique dramatically changed because of the effect of hormone.It was done by instinct.

Good Question. Because Momotaro's mother Momoko came to Chiba Zoologi Chiba at first from Spain. It means the zoo was the first owner. Although she stays in Ueno zoo now, her owner is not Ueno as well as her son Momotaro and grand child Gentaro . Meanwhile Genki and Kintaro belong to Kyoto City Zoo. At ueno zoo, Momoko has now four children excluding Momotaro at kyoto city zoo, right. Each child the owner is different as their father Haoko came from Taronga Zoo in Australia.

家族と一緒にいる間は、成長は遅いと思われます。家族と離れると、自立心が芽生えて、ホルモンが活発になり一気に大人になると言われています。

Yeah it’ll hardest on kinataro being the only child but at least momo has always played with him a lot . I’ve seen about every video of this family n haven’t seen momo play with gento as much as kinto. But you can see gento over the last year n his actions with his mom are more like that of a gorilla trying to impress a female to try n win her over like running past her n hits her with a tree branch, pushing her over running outside n striking his macho pose with his body posture n puff up his lips. That would def cause a problem alpha silverbacks n they’d take that as his competition which could cause a bad fight but lucky his father hasn’t acted on it. That n the fact that dad n kintos bond seem to be much better bc of more interaction so yeah it’s about time for him be sent to another zoo to start his own family bc he def wouldn’t last in a bachelor group. But with genki to old to mate any more it’ll def be a little harder for than most families

Momo and Gent played all the time due to Gentaro being so hyperactive as a child, Momo would actually run away because Gentaro wouldn't stop due to his high energy and they would play rough because that's the way Gent liked it. You mentioned that you have seen all the videos of this family,..I don't understand how you can miss the strong bond that Momo and Gent had, you need to watch the early years of this family. Kintaro barely has a bond with Momo, he is more of a mama's boy compared to when Gentaro was Kintaro's age.

Hopefully keepers will rethink keeping momma and babies separated for such a huge amount of time. Can't have been good for any. Since KoKo was taught sign language, perhaps a very good chance Genki could have been taught to bottle feeding Gentaro.

Genki is a very selfish eater. That would never happen because she would drink every little drop from the bottle,then break it open and lick the inside of that open bottle clean... Genki lives to eat, that's what she loves the most... FOOD!!!

Li umanizziamo troppo, io penso che se va via Gentaro, dispiacerà a noi ma a mamma e papà noe normale per gli animali. E penso anche che non sanno neanche di essere i genitori. Gentaro è rientrato a vivere con loro a dieci mesi, lo hanno accettato come un membro del gruppo ma no come figlio. Gli animali dopo la nascita se il piccolo viene allontanato non li vogliono più come figli. Anzi mi stupisco che non si sono accoppiati per sei anni, gli davano l'anticoncezionale! Questo spiegherebbe alcuni comportamenti di Genki .

I love these animals but I feel that American zoos take better care of these animals and wish they could be moved even European zoos do a better job

For now, in Japan no young female gorillas. Mostly they are related in blood line. No chance to get a female gorilla for Momotaro unless a zoo overseas transfers a female gorilla to the Kyoto City Zoo.

I think it’s good that people care about these animals. But to say you love something that you have only seen through a computer screen is a bit unbelievable.
