Father MOMOTARO ♂(2000/7/3)
He is hesitant in new situations and is a loner.
His father died before he was born, and he had never spent time with a silverback.
He had already turned into a silverback by the time he was 10 years old.
He is struggling with unfamiliar child-rearing.
Mother GENKI ♀ (1986/6/24)
She is 14 years older than Momotaro and has a role to support the whole family mentally.
She has had a tumultuous and eventful life.
She has returned to her birthplace, Kyoto City Zoo.
She had never been blessed with a baby but after meeting Momotaro,
she had two sons.
She is a very maternal female gorilla.
First son GENTARO, male (2011/12/21)
He was separated from his mother Genki soon after he was born.
Genki's milk production was not very good.
He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
Second son KINTARO ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.
The way he plays a lot with his brother Gentaro is
makes everyone smile.
We can't wait to see what kind of gorilla he'll become!

@@marshapelo9830 I believe you...are there videos of Kintaro doing this? I don't think we make any attempt to educate the captive Gorillas on display in the Zoos of America, for their own sake? I think American zoos only train the Gorillas to cooperate in their own medical care, and that is all? I think if I'm right and we are not educating our captive Gorillas? It's wrong NOT to educate them like we do human children...but of course adapted to their wants and needs. I believe, we humans have a moral obligation to educate their minds. If only for the simple fact that their lives in captivity are boring and they NEED mental stimulation... As much as they can get!! American zoos don't give them blankets or balls either in order to exhibit them more "naturalistically". I disagree. with that.

ゲンタロウは本当に優しいです。 ゲンキにちょっかい出して、ファンの中にはゲンタロウを責める方がいますが。この歳の差でキンタロウと遊べるのは優しいゴリラでないと簡単にはできませんからね。ゲンタロウが自分の子供を持った時が楽しみです。

Yes he wasn't expecting to have to share his parents. Then this little bundle comes along and he is the star of the shoe. I think its interesting before they bonded how when they play now Gentaro doesn't have elections. Im very happy about that. Kentaro still touches him and moves to stop. Once in a while I think it feels too good cause it takes a little longer before he makes him stop. I curious if there is an explanation why he does not force Kentaro to allow him to act out in the sexual play. Does that type of thing happen routinely? I'm glad Gentaro started to be able to appreciate his play mate and little brother who adores him. Sex between all primates is troublesome. I think we are more alike than most people think. Its far more excusable in animals than humans

I think so too. Since his resentment and jealousy has subsided and he has begun to love his little brother everyone is much happier. What a difficult adjustment that must have been for him. Loving the brother who took your place in the family. Kintaro certainly loves his big brother that is for sure. Has anyone seen how much Kintaro weighs. I bet he is a solid as a brick.
I'm amazed about how smart these creatures are and how emotional they can get with each other in this kind of situations , Kinny looks very concerned about his brother and even Genki is sitting close to him showing him support .

It is very surprising how the different species take care of their young, themselves, and each other. Genki, Gentaro, Kinny, and Momo are so good to each other. Does anyone know how Gentaro became injured?
Awww, Poor Gentaro. It looks like he bit the inside out his mouth/lip real good.....ouch. Kintaro says, "When my brother is hurt and in pain, I'm in pain. He is my best bud, and I love him so much." Be healed real soon Gentaro, we love you. 💞

After Momotaro got so I'll from an infected wound on his neck last year I'm sure the keeper's will take a good look at poor Gentaro's finger's & lip & make sure to give antibiotics if required 🙏 Did he fight with his Daddy? I love how he keeps showing his fingers to Kintaro, maybe he's asking his little brother to "kiss it better"... I hope he's not in real pain, poor Genki looks just as upset for her baby 😥😥

Me too. I assume that the zookeepers must delt with the wounds. The following day, Gentaro was eating food as usual.
Kintaro está solidário com a dor de seu irmão.

Not surprised that Genki and Kintaro are worried about Gentaro. Remember when Momo got sick in 2021 August. The family rallied around him and poor Kintaro became sick worried about dad. Their capacity to care for others, and their empathy and sympathy always amazes me. To gorilla family is everything. Genki and Kintaro will fuss over him. And though we can't see in this video I'm sure Momo is just as worried and is patrolling, on guard in the background making sure he is safe while he is mending. Hoping our baby Gentaro heals quickly.

What an 💕empathy 💞 of Kintaro for his big brother Gentaro: just great for becoming a witness of this👍💫. This remerbered me to that video in which Gentaro was attacked by his father and as aftermatch of this showing his wounds to his zookeeper miss Hina and to his mother...
Oh no, my poor Gentaro! How did he get injured? Did he fall? Or did he get into a scrape with Momotaro? I do hope he's going to be okay. That cut on his inner lip looks pretty deep.

I am not quite sure but the following day Gentaro looked fine. The zookeepers must have taken proper treatments.

This shows the intelligences of Gorillas. Even young Kinty could recognize that the injuries of his broher were not supposed to be there. It sure would be nice if we knew what they were thinking. They are a lovely family. If only the zoo could afford doubling the size of their enclosure.

Bruised knuckles and a busted lip spells fight. I haven’t watched the gorillas much but compared to the chimpanzees gorillas are so non confrontational. The only one missing showing concern though, is the dad.

Poor Gentaro. I can imagine how bad that is. Like when our hands are dry and crack and bleed and how much that hurts. Looks like his knuckles were scraped against the cement. Sweet Little Kintaro has so much empathy and compassion for his big brother and a few times it seemed like Kintaro actually "pouted" ( 4:05 )while looking at Gentaro's hand wounds. Just the look of concern on Kintaro's face is full of so much sadness for his brother. And we know, Sweet Gentaro loves affection and attention after he gets a B00-BOO! I'm Glad he was shown concern by his family This staff is wonderful, Im sure they gave him medical attention. Maybe his little hands got over-dry with the cold weather and made them crack. I saw the staff massage ointment on Gorillas hands when they were too dry to help them from cracking. But, seems Gentaro keeps picking at his wounds, may make it harder to heal. But, the staff loves him and no doubt taking care of him. This is more proof how much Gorillas share our feelings and concerns for others. They are such sensitive souls and experience our behaviors and feelings seeing others we love hurt. Great video!!! Thank you!!! Get well Beautiful Gentaro!! I wish he knew how many humans watch him daily and love him. He would feel so happy if only he knew!
Hello 👋 they are so intelligent that Kintaro comes to confort Jentaro as Genki but how did he injured his right hand and his lips ? Only a hand he could have done that playing or something else but also his lips at the same time ? What was really happened ? Sad to see these cutie injured and to see the little one with so much empathy. May could he had a problem with Momotaro ? Or Fall to the ground from a high place ? I’m concerned about gentaro s lip injury this could be something that may turn into a serious wound , with him eating abrasive food and picking his lip over and over please be watchful with gentaro condition. Best of luck mr. Gentaro .

パートナーがいるならば、まもなく11歳ですから、親離れしても良いとは思いますが、飼育員や京都市動物園が決めることなので、どうなりますかね？ ゲンタロウは、日本の宝なので、最高の環境を用意してあげて欲しいです。
