Tim Rattles his Rattlebacks
Ғылым және технология
A rattleback (also known as a celt or a wobblestone) is a type of spinning top that will spin in one direction, but when you spin it the other way it will slow down until it stops, wobbling along its length, and will then spin in the opposite direction.
Originally seen as mysterious, they are now regarded as an interesting piece of physics. One of the original papers explaining how they work was presented at the Royal Society in London in 1988.

The little turtles who don't want to go backwards are just lovely.
Tim, that is one item I have never seen in my life, but apparently it is rather common. Very cool though.
Toy makers are simply amazing, a scientist , an artist.
I'm glad there so many people watching this, Tim is just so charming almost like Bob Ross, which I've also started watching again because of these videos
The phone at my work does this. I find myself spinning it all day.
How anyone can actually dislike these videos is beyond me.

Het Thakkar The subject of the sentence is a noun clause, which means the subject in the noun clause is followed by a possible auxiliary and the main verb. This noun clause itself acts as the subject of the sentence, which is itself a positive and assertive sentence - not a (non-assertive) question. A (yes-no) question inverts the the subject and auxiliary. I hope that clarifies it for you. Best regards, Your grammar and syntax Nazi.

When I first saw this I went around spinning everything and I found like 12 different pens that worked as rattlebacks
i have no idea how i found this video, but i regret nothing! :D
Ah, the first video of yours I'd ever seen. What a time it's been!
Always amazing how Tim can make something so simple so interesting
Once again an excellent video! Tim is always so entertaining - he's great. You always seem to find such interesting things and he has such a cool collection. Keep up the excellent work!
Love seeing these videos!
hope to see tim at rattleback-con this year
I didn't even know these were a thing, pretty neat
99 more tiny longships and you can stage a tiny Viking invasion.
I so love watching your video's and rattlebacks are a favorite of mine! I have a few at home and I have made many and shared them! Awesome items!
Rattle's got back.
It isn't a canoe, it's a gondola, which are actually made asymmetrically.
Nice last part of the video too ! Cool item :)
what do you think happened to Vladimir krasnikov back in the 80s? did he really disappear? or did he get too close to the truth about UROs?
Tim has friends from all over the world and they are too good.
I didn't even know what a rattle back was until today.
My Science teacher showed us a video of them and they looked awesome!!!
Governor: Warden, the children of Switzerland demand rattlebacks and I'll be damned if they don't get them! Warden: But sir, don't you think having prisoners craft a metal toy that looks a lot like a shiv could be dangerous? Governor: No. And that is the story of the Great Swiss Jailbreak of 1968.
Thank you Dear Tim, I wish I could meet you one day , good bless you
This makes me wonder, is there anything that Tim doesn't collect? Well, nobody's going to rattle my back! I only shake my head.

RATTLE ME BONES
Tim, my birthday is in 4 days and I love your videos. I also love all sciences. So maybe for a present you could make a video about any scientific gadgets/toys or the like that you may have in your collection? :D :D
Very interesting. I didn't know there were so many varieties of rattlebacks. I have one similar to the one that also magnifies. Another feature of that one: press down gently on either end, and the rattleback will start spinning without a "push".
I truly thought he was going to spin the table clockwise at the end there
As anyone ever thought about how good the camera man is
VERY clever.
"All rainbow rainbow rainbow" XD
Prisoners made a shank and told everyone it's a rattleback.
Tim himself probably can Rattleback using his body too or is there any Rattleback version of Tim out there? Just curious. Take it away boys. lol
you could say I'm rattled
you sounded like one of my high school teachers at the end. :-P "wow!... there's movement!"
Marvelous
Rattleback from the Nile
I had a cellphone that rathled back. Probably unbalanced by it's antenna. Used to play with it a lot when bored, but didn't really pay much attention to the rattlingback..

***** Thats only about 1150 USD... Good position? Relative to what? I agree that is a lot for a chunk of ill balanced wood, but is that really high for a months pay in germany? That is roughly 1/3 of the average monthly income in america, in fact, that would likely qualify you for foodstamps and damn near what the US calls the poverty line(about 1000 USD a month) and would be heavy poverty in some states.(Up to nearly 2000 USD in some states without medicaid).

The Euro was introduced in 2001. Around that time, 2000DM was an adequate salary let's say for a shop clerk, full time, but not for anything I would call a "good position". Even as a qualified worker ("Facharbeiter"), e.g. for CNC turning, you would already gross about twice that, on a 35 hour work week.
Just seen clips from this video on one of top Top Trendings videos. '10 objects made to defy physics'. :) :)
