Appreciate your continued discussion and keeping the .270 Win as a focus. Definitely my preferred caliber. I miss my Tikka T3 lite with stainless barrel and Steiner GS3 glass which was great a 200 yards and never got to go further before I had given it up. Just very accurate, but was about a $1800 investment. However, thanks to that velocity and flat shooting of the .270 Win, my Howa 1500 with Nikko-Stirling scope package a little over $500 is still a great bargain (built with the same action as the Weatherby Vanguard series as you know) and very accurate as well. I have installed a removable magazine upgrade package for 5 and 10 round mags, though still liked the original drop mag fine. Both of you have nice set ups and thanks for the chat!

Had a chance to handle a Kimber mountain in 308 and the Tikka T3X super lite. Own a T3X Hunter already. Both were nice and lite rifles. I think there is part of me that still leans towards Tikka. Though it's moot since both were wrong handed for me. The Kimbers were $799 and the Tikkas were $749. So very competitive price wise.

I have a Tikka T3 Stainless in 338 Win Mag that shoots sub MOA all day! I just purchased a customized stainless T3X in 7 Rem Mag with Six carbon fiber barrel in a BC stock. It's on the way and I'll replace the stock with one similar (Altitude) at only 24oz, which is even lighter than the Tikka plastic stock. I like the 270, 300 Win and 300 RUM. Have owned many rifles and am trying to create my shooting battery, which means some letting go of guns to get several nicer weapons. I do like Kimbers, but not their high bolt lift! Plus at some point rifles can be too light! For the money T3s are tough to beat!

@GunsAndGrenache
Жыл бұрын
@@adublbeatz8656 Both would be good choices, and I haven't shot the superlite but I must add, if you're going 270 maybe stick with the Lite. I'd go superlight with a lighter recoiling cartridge like .223 or .243. The .270 does kick enough to notice with lightweight stocks. I have a small bruise (nothing big) on my shoulder after a session bore sighting, checking groups at 100yards, the rifle shoots accurate btw. First few groups got me touching holes with Core Lokt 130gr, GMX 130gr. In a hunting scenario, one to a few shots you'll be fine, but for any practice session where you'll test different boxes of ammo for loads your gun likes, if you go superlite, the gun might beat you up a bit your first session. Factory cerakote is also nice to have. The slightly heavier stainless barrel, cerakoted in that awesome color that works well in mountains, plains and deserts will guarantee a lifetime of worry-free use.

I'm going to swap out the stock T3x recoil butt pad for a LimbSaver or Pachmayr pad. Good thing about T3x is it's easy to do. I also put on a Mountain Tactical 0 MOA base to the receiver to mount lightweight yet capable optic: Trijicon AccuPoint 3-9x40 (only 13.4 ounces) with Trijicon standard height aluminum rings, to complete my lightweight build. So far so great! I'd definitely recommend the T3x Lite Veil Alpine in .270 winchester.
