Idk, i only found this video after getting to level 6. My natural instinct has already been iron-clad on the way that makes you not get the blue rings and it's a really difficult habit to break. I'm honestly kicking myself so goddamn hard.

this isn't a thing you NEED to know but if you manage to fly and then stomp on the boss square that has all the lights, it will show a really satisfying animation

I believe that's more of a way to increase your Highscore than to damage the boss. All of the bosses are finished if you manage ro master their Rhythm pattern

It will also give you an additional blue thump if you complete the section on your first try

You didn't mention how in a boss fight, clearing a sequence on the first try spawns a bonus thump. If you do that _and_ stomp on the 'energy weapon' at the end of the sequence, you get two bonus thumps.

This was a very helpful guide, I had no idea you could nab squares without landing!

Good guide. Some things to note though: - Perfect Turns are not explained. They make a different sound, give more points, and are counted separately in the level's tally. - When you mention "Health", what you get back is actually your Shield. - At 4:40, the "mechanic not explained in the game" is simply that Perfect Turns (which, as I noted, you never mention) allow you to stay airborne on curves. - The second mechanic, at 5:05, isn't an actual mechanic. By releasing the jump button, you're just falling and bouncing back up off the square. - You didn't mention that you can switch lanes in mid air.

That bounce is the thing I'm looking for, as I've seen I need it for some S ranks. He says in the video: keep holding up + press a You're saying: Just let go of a Are you still holding up to bounce? Do you repress a once you land? Do you repress a when you're in the air? A little more detail would help.

The 5:05 mechanic is most certainly a mechanic, you can fly infinitely with that trick, I would know.

One other thing- pounding on the green bossfight attack square thing will net you two of the shield recharge squares

What helped me too was realizing that I don't have to keep the Stick held up or I guess the Upward arrow-key to keep flying so one can prepare for what to do next quicker. I guess the best players are probably musicians with better understanding of rhythm and poly-rhythm. I got all S-Ranks but it's crazy what highscores there are. I hope more people play that game now that it was free with the Play at Home games on PS4/PS5.

The game is fking brutal, like off putting its that hard, but havent uninstalled it and i keep going back for a quick go that turns into an hour lol.

Excellent guide! A few things I will note that we're not mentioned: perfect turns give extra points (another comment already mentioned but I'm including it for the sake of listing everything), and these are accomplished simply by pressing the direction of the turn just as you enter it - you can hold the "thump" key as long as you want in advance. You mentioned extended flight, but forgot that this is also accomplished by making a turn while flying (which has the same controls as a perfect turn, if you don't do it perfectly, it stops your flight) meaning you could fly indefinitely after simply lifting off a second square or by making a turn. I like how you explained stomping, but I'll go into more detail on that as well: if you have a running combo multiplier, then pounding on a square simply charges the next appropriate square with extra points and a health restore (sometimes it skips a few, but if another square isn't on the screen by the time the shockwave dissipates, it doesn't give you a bonus or spawn about square). Also, pounding on the "bullet" squares (the ones that do damage to bosses) adds a really satisfying extra effect to the shot, and assuming you didn't make a mistake, will spawn two charged squares that can restore your health (these can also be used to achieve infinite flight so you can pound at the start of the next sequence, that's what I like to do). On the note of bosses, they won't spawn any charged squares if you have to repeat a sequence before attacking them (i.e. missing a square), if this happens, the bullet disappears and the sequence repeats. Thankfully this is only per attack, so if you continue on after making a mistake, but do the rest perfectly, you'll still get the bonuses for those sequences. Apologise for the long comment, you did cover the bulk of the tips and tricks, but I thought I would throw in a few I discovered out of curiosity. Happy thumping!

Are you saying if you mess up on one segment of a boss, you can just redo it perfectly and still get an S rank for the level?

@@why_i_game it's been a little while since I've played - I reached 100% completion shortly after making this comment. As far as I know though, the S rank for boss segments is based entirely on whether you do it perfectly or not, as opposed to normal levels where it's based on the points you score. You might be allowed one mistake near the end, when you've already scored most of the points possible while keeping the combo multiplier, but that could also only be possible in certain bosses and not in others

@@why_i_game TLDR for my last comment, if you miss S rank for the boss of a level, you can still restart from last checkpoint and try for it again before the screen fades to black and it's still possible to get it :)

so if there are two spike sections with a square in between, you never have to land? Just make sure to hit the square in between? Level 6-6 has a few of those sections and I keep failing because I land in between spikes.

You just have to press space while above it, you have to time it, don't spam

I don’t understand the perfect turns I’m on oculus go You hit the middle of the pad to fly And hit left or right of the pad to turn And trigger is Basically space bar Do you hold left or right to stay mid air or what I’m confused Edit: wait I think I get it, I’ll try it, but just Incase, can you still explain

It's been some time since I played the game, but if I recall correctly, you can turn while flying if you input left or right at the last moment before hitting a turn.

you have to turn at the exact moment, the slider starts, listening to the music is very helpful for it, because every obstacle is synced up to the music

I haven't played the game But what's the point of those giant floating rings that hit the squares?

For Xbox One, Xbox controller and Nintendo Switch players: Spacebar = A I believe Enter will correspond to RB (Xbox) or R (Nintendo Switch) PS4 Players: Spacebar = X I believe Enter will correspond to R1 The arrows refer to the Left Joystick or D-pad and all console version platforms or Xbox controller users on PC.

I have this in VR, downloading it on a regular console just wouldn’t be the same

Uh.....in the boss fight you see a yellow square but the last one is the blast. So, if you normal jump it (press space/enter) is just normally blast. But when you stomp it (fly then stomp the blast square), you will see something different here....

I came to get an explanation of why an all S level run may be worth less points than runs with As and Bs. I don't get their scoring system. I think you should have also explaned that the wavy structures that are cliging to the track are the things you blast off when you do the "ground pound" and I assume you get points for doing them.

I must say that I don't know what the controls are for mobile. If I had to guess though? Probably just trying to turn, right before hitting a wall while flying? That's how it normally works but I can understand that you've probably tried that. Can't really help you any further than that sorry.

5:31 If only I’d known this before I reached level 6-21… I was doing it the hard way: going down then back up.

@@ddjrdcd1777 This was a really long long time ago but I think the point I was trying to make is that it's putting yourself at a pretty crazy disadvantage to play on a keyboard when it's much better to be playing on a controller, regardless of whether or not it's on PC.

That's understandable, it is quite hard to time after all, try to time it with your ears instead of your eyes. The curves should follow the rhythm. Good luck!

Quick tip. Holding X makes you go faster which can make turning harder. Don't hold x unless you need to

luciboyraw it only gives the impression of going faster because of the light streaks, the rhythm defines your speed, you can't alter it

All of this is taught to you by playing through the game.
