Throwing out a WHOLE CHICKEN For Bait! (CRAZY RESULTS) Catch & Cook
Ойын-сауық
Using an ENTIRE CHICKEN for bait? What could go wrong!?
So this week, we are trying something we’ve never done before: we are using a whole chicken to catch live crabs. We have the chicken, we have the crab lines and the crab net, sounds easy enough, right? Hopefully, we will be about to catch a bushel so that we can take them home to cook for our family. This was such a crazy experience and one I can’t wait to repeat!
We will be turning our crabs into Maryland style crab cakes! Watch for the recipe and try it at home yourself!

Bro what spot is this?
You are so lucky to have a great, fun father and a great, always smiling wife who enjoys fishing together! My dad never did anything with me, not once. My wife doesn't like to be in the sun, so all my fishing is by myself and it sure would be nice to have it be a family affair like you do! You are very, very blessed!!

Thank you so much. We are blessed, and so grateful for everything!
No one ever taught me how to fish for crabs when I was a little kid, but that is exactly what I did. Piece of chicken on a line and pull them up into the bucket. I never told anybody what I was doing on the pier, and we never ate them. I would just throw them back. But I had endless little boy fun catching them and playing with them on the small pier. Got pinched more than once and that drew tears, but hey, I was only nine or ten years old!

Being pinched by a crab was great practice for those two legged crabs with hands for pincers you would meet just a little later in life.

Yep ! That's the most fun I can remember as a child at kill devel hills N C
A bit of advice from Cajun country: when crabbing like this, use ladies pantyhose/stockings to put the chicken in. Cut the stockings a little larger than the bait, tie a knot on each end, then the line tog the knot rather than through the chicken. Bait lasts longer & often the crabs claws get hung up on the stockings, makes them a little easier to catch.
I would just like to give your wife/cameraman..a compliment..."Brandon got Very Lucky the day you came into his life!!!

Simply awesome! Thank you!
Your video brought back memories of me and my dad crabbing at Solomons Island in Maryland. We always used chicken parts, especially chicken necks to crab.
Great family time video! and the crab looks delicious.
Thank you for a excellent video! You have really taught me how to catch crabs and also how to prepare them! Thank you!❤
When I was a kid my mom would take us to help her catch blue crabs 50 years ago, she would dangle a chicken neck tied to a short cane pole over the grassy Bay Area of Bradenton Beach, we would scoop the crabs up with a hand held net and put them in the bucket. Within an hour we had plenty of crabs for supper. Many memories watching your video. Happy crabbing !
Perfect teaching! Thank you and good day.
Great catching crabs guys, thanks for showing us how to make crabs cake, it’s delicious crabs cakes you guy make
You guys aren't missing much in md. I'll be out on the dock all day just to catch 12-14 keepers.
Love this video...new to your channel...excited about watching
I don't even like seafood, but this is fun to watch. I like your dad's "string trick" hahaha. I was actually surprised it didn't fall off.
WOW am I envious!!! I was stationed in St. Mary's County, MD with the US Coast Guard years ago. Fresh caught blue crabs, oysters, and hush puppies!! The locals would fill jars with blue crab meat, vinegar, and their favorite hot peppers, and see whose peppers were the hottest!! YIKES!! Sadly, as I got older, I developed a shellfish allergy...oh NOOOOOO!!!! I can now only safely eat fish. RATS!!!! But the memories still linger on any taste buds forty-five years later.
I thourhly enjoy ur Commentary Mr Skipper and Family 🌹 Awesome Masterpiece Class on Crabbing. I'm from MD. So I Felt that connection.. I Remember my Parents taking us Crabbing under the Bridge where the were Running Will back in the Day.. Thank You for Sharing brought back Memories for Me!!!!!!🔥🔥🔥

Great on the video, crab cakes look delicious
Love your videos bro they are very helpful
Looks delicious, I will have to try the apple cider the next time I do crabs.
Maryland stays with ya forever (:D)...chicken on a string + net = crabs 🦀🦀🦀 (authentically chicken neck for tougher longer lasting bait)...or use the catching MD cages built for catching crab and have big nuff holes to let go the ones too small to keep - (:D).
Woostershear sauce. Great video! Waiting for the catch n cook flounder vid. 😊
we used to go out and catch blue shell crab like your doing here in new england fire up the big pot and invite the neighbors was fun watching you guys it brought back memory's on how we did it .. which state you guys from seems ther'es plenty of blue shell there
I use catch blue crabs with my Dad. I taught my kids. It was always fun and yummy.
Loved it !
I used to use a chicken back or leg tied to a string and pull out so many crabs out of the Chesapeake bay back in the late 80s early 90s when I was a kid then take them to Lexington market and sell them to the vendors when I was a kid....so many memories
Very smart on rain buckets!
When I was visiting Gatorland in Florida they fed the alligators chicken too ! The Gators loved it!🦎🐊🐊
Yo this is wholesome aff, those look super good!
beautiful family, you're so blessed my brother
Wonderful job brother and sister!
Great video guys
@25:02 "they're all lethargic now, they won't hardly move" and proceeds to show the first crab making a mad sprint as soon as it lands in the pot lolz
I grew up on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and often crabbed off bridges using the necks, backs, etc of the chicken and attaching some bolts as weights. When you pull up the line, have your net ready because the crab will let go as soon as they come out of the water. Of course you’re catching the Chesapeake Blue Claws and there’s nothing like them.
Sweet idea!!
Hey Skipper, watching your videos for a while now! love the content!! keep it up!! have you been down in Virginia Beach yet?
Whoa Dad with the ninja string pull!!😮
you can also take all those shells boil them up for stock for later, do the same with Dungeness crab here in northern california, and rock crab
Hey skipper how are you? Have you ever done fishing in Rhode Island? I love to hear what you will use for bait and what fishing rod will you use, thanks for all the help
Hello brother I love seeing these types of content , very very nice . Here in Trinidad we also catch allot of crabs but we use the gizzard of the chicken . For some reason they just love it . Try it some day brother . Great videos
Nice job. We always used chicken necks when we were kids.
I was born and raised in FL. Welcome and enjoy. Noticed the White Edition Joy of Cooking in your collection. If that is the Wh I te Ed I tion with Barbeque Sauce on page 90. Congrats.!
That looked so good! Your kitchen looks great too. Did you make some renovations to it?
Man that's a great catch of crab!!! Florida crab isn't half bad!
Now I can't wait to get back to Texas this fall.
Wonderful video 😊
Nice vid skip! Try pork belly peaces for the crabs..the ultimate👍
Hey guys, great video. Thank you for sharing. Where are you located in Florida?
I've always crabbed from pier , bridge , and from land not in water like that..... I use crab traps we make . Or crab rings . And hand lines sometimes... But fish always works good for me and chicken
Why am I so hungry for seafood right now? Just curious.... good job guys. That was fun to watch.
Loved the video, i also have been catching catfish and stripper with your catchall rig and salted shrimp
I have to make an unexpected road trip to the shore and wade in the back bay this weekend now!
When I was a kid and we would go freshwater catfishing my dad always needed two baits...hot dogs and chicken. We never came home without fish 😂
Damn! That crab in the chicken’s but hole twice made my day😂😂😂double play😂😂
Awesome!
Love yer Dad! Super cool Straight Shooter!
I have the same book, "Fish- Mark Bittman", Yeah, I'm from Baltimore, MD.
brandon back in 64 and63 whenI was in the Navy we used to fish for blue crab in Virginia brach , with chicken necks
thanks for the video. i did not catch where you caught those crabs. where and when was this?
Thanks for the vid. Makes me want to go out. I couldn't catch that many though, where I am we have a bag limit for blue Crabs of 10 Crabs per person per day and they have to be over a certain size to keep them. If your found with underside or over the limit, fines are huge, like $200 per crab and iv even heard of peoples boats being seized by the fisheries.
Good plate combo, also makes a difference when you have a crab cake with actually crab vs like mostly bread....
I've herd of useing chicken to load your crab trap. But have never herd of useing chicken as your crab trap. Hahaha
They make a nylon net for crabbing that thing is awesome I love mines
I miss crabbing in Maryland!
You should use beer 🍺. You’ll also need Old Bay seasoning and rock salt. That’s how you do it. Maryland style 😉 😁
Need to post that recipe for the crab cakes
That's how I used to catch crab in the Chesapeake Bay! We used chicken!
we shell, clean, break in half to a cluster, and steam our crabs before we steam them and i'm from Surfside beach, Texas. we pick our crabs, we don't shuck them like an oyster ;) and i prefer them without any seasoning or butter ;)
lov that u cook some food
