I think Spurgeon has some great quotes one thing though is a he lied and said the Calvinists didn't believe some babies and children would go to hell based on election when Calvinists taught that they would go to hell based on their predestination of what they would have done. But Spurgeon lied. the Dutch reformed use to hold up the babies and say “thank you God for fresh wood for the fire”. Calvinism is stupid as it is ugly from the past and has a terrible ugly history with a Jihad happening in Geneva, where 270 people were killed for not believing in Calvinism and they burned alive many annaBaptists, see Foxes book of Martyrs for the source of that. It's ridiculous to believe that you can choose small things in your life but you can't choose your Eternal Destiny like God is some cruel Taskmaster. go to Matthew 25- the parable of the calvinist / talents that's the kind of God the Calvanist make in their own mind. Freewill all the way baby. Jeremiah 19 it never entered into God's mind to do harm to any children. God is not the cause of it He's not going to send kids into hell. Like I said Calvinists and Muslims have a common agenda of jihad and a particular view of God that goes with it.

This was the most beautiful documentary on Charles Spurgeon. I don’t know why, but for the past month I have been listening to sermons from the late Charles Spurgeon. What a mighty force of God and a legacy left in his good name for his decedents and for ppl all over the world to still find Christ through his sermons. Before bed I was listening his sermon How to Please God, and How to Read the Bible, afterwards I fell asleep and was awakened around 1:20 am (CST) by hearing the beginning of Through the Eyes of Spurgeon. I’m so grateful to have been awakened at that time. I had asked God to show me more, and more He did show me. What a legacy and A good name to leave behind, all in the name of Christ. He did fight the good fight of faith! 🎩👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 May every person that listen to his sermons leave changed for the better through Christ forevermore in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen!

I just read a sample of Susie: the Life and Legacy of Susannah Spurgeon and I experienced such awe. How can people serve God like that except they be anointed by Him? Especially Charles Spurgeon, hallelujah! The awe was overwhelming me that I ran to pray to God and talked to Him. @raf ganowicz if you truly believe that, then why did you click on the link to watch this documentary? ... perhaps deep down you know the truth, that Christ is who he said he was, and like Pilate once publicly stated, you really find no fault in Christ, yet you don't want to part from your sins, so you spend your time trying to fight against the truth. May the Lord open your eyes, as he has mine. I also was once blind and lost, but God called me by his grace.

I read Spurgeon’s devotion Morning and Evening every day along with my Bible. It wasn’t until after watching this documentary and learning something of the kind of man he was that I understood why his devotional thoughts and exhortations are so comforting and inspire such a reverence for Christ in my heart. I’ve recently lost so much, my wife, health, career, finances and friendships as a result of our having cancer. But my daily readings both of the Bible with it’s assurances of the unfailing grace of my Savior, and Spurgeon’s tender encouragement to believe, trust and take comfort in the God of the Bible have been medicinal for me. Also interesting how many comments here are small-minded and defensive. Makes one understand a bit better the difficulty Spurgeon faced in the English “Christian” community of his day and perhaps too the difficulty of being a publicly known pastor today (like, for example, John Piper) in the age of social media.

Thank you for such a wonderful presentation of a life of Charles Haddon Spurgeon. I too am a Baptist pastor and pastored for 38 years the same as Mr. Spurgeon but health issues took me out of a permanent pulpit. I don’t recall who introduced me to Spurgeons sermons but I bless the day I found them and stocked my library with everyone I could. I found great challenge and comfort in his sermons but the book I treasure the most is the prayers of Charles Haddon Spurgeon I read from that book from my pulpit every Wednesday night until I completed the book it changed our prayer life at church. It is the only book I still have the others I gave away to young preachers I felt would be encouraged by reading his sermons.

So thankful for this wonderful documentary and the Spurgeon sermons I have access to, mostly here on KZread. These are great ministries, labors of love for Christ, dedicated servants of God who freely make these resourses available to us. I am thankful. I was encouraged to hear how God used Susannah to assist him, especially in getting his sermons printed and distributed, also the gifting of sermon libraries for ministers. Wonderful. Foundational knowledge of God's Word, and better Biblical interpretation through books for research is important. Thanks to everyone who worked to produce this excellent resource. I am eager to see if God leads you to make more, this was first class in every way and factual not biased or exaggerated. I am encouraged to continue studying and making sure I aim for accuracy in my own research.

Many years ago I was in the proximity of someone I'd heard was a direct desendant of Charles Spurgeon. I had no idea who Charles Spurgeon was at the time and didn't until 4 decades later. All I knew of his desendant was he was a tall man with poor eyesight who could only read with the assistance of very large computer monitors as he worked for a small independent newspaper in NYC. I wonder where he is now. I expect he is a great grandfather. God bless him and I hope he abandoned the path he was on and came to know Jesus as Lord of his life. I am grateful to the Salvation Army which was instrumental in pulling me from that false path to the one true path which lead me to Jesus.

My heart was so gripped at the end of this film by the challenge, “Is that the legacy that we shall leave?” Thank you for making this about the man of God that Spurgeon was and also about the God that he preached; how we each have a vocation (along with justification and sanctification) to understand and obey. Oh that my life would echo the phrase from Spurgeon in which this film ends, “I used to think that I should sing among the saints as loud as any; for I owe so much to the grace of God.”

This was a beautiful and very well researched documentary. I think what I'm most impressed with is that they didn't deify him by dishonestly glossing over the more negative aspects of his life. I'm not an expert on Spurgeons life, but from what little I do know, I must take up a serious issue. I recently heard a Calvinist claim that critics of Calvinism are hypocrites. Because we enjoy reading Spurgeons sermons and extol the virtues of his theology. And yet, we either don't know, or we intentionally ignore the fact that he was a staunch 5 point Calvinist. Well, sorry, but that is a blatant falsehood. He absolutely wasn't a Calvinist in the modern-day sense. He studied J. Calvin. Huge difference. Modern Calvinist don't actually adhere to J. Calvin's theology. I'm not sure how, when, or why, but they've somehow twisted it to the point that it's now a completely different doctrine. It truly breaks my 💔. Because most Calvinist are good Christians who are being totally lied to and dangerously misled. 😔 I suppose that the best that we can do is lay it at God's Feet and continue to fight the good fight as we go to and rise up from our knees ✨️ 🙏 ✨️

Fantastic and inspiring documentary on Spurgeon. When he asks that question at the end I felt like God had put a laser pointer on my heart further confirming the calling to preach and stand for Jesus Christ in this generation that is so lost. May Jesus Christ receive the glory in all of it. Thank you for taking the time to do this. May God bless you as you continue your efforts in this ministry for the glory of the name of Jesus Christ. Be blessed! 😊🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I have, I believe, read every biography (& the 2 volume auto(?) by Iain Murray and Susannah Spurgeon,) published by the blessed Banner of Truth. Oh, how I have been blessed by CHS' sermons and his books. I converted at 22, now 78, 56 years ago and I have one of his MTP vol. beside me now. I am happy to see over 1-1/2 million viewers have watched this...so well put together. Thank you for this. wl

As a black woman listening to Spurgeon sermon I was deeply moved. This man loved the Lord with his whole heart. Spurgeon loved all people regardless of the color of their skin. I didn’t think any or most white skin persons of that century would care or understand the truth of God. I listen to Pastor Spurgeon often now because his teachings are truly led by the Holy Spirit. Thank you Jesus❤🙏🏾✝️ and thank you Pastor Walker for introducing this great man of Faith god to me.🥰

Many thanks. I love Charlie, as I call him. His sermons are brilliant, so inspiring because I've been getting out on the streets sharing Gospel tracts (simple statements of the gospel in writing) and a little preaching. All Christians, I believe, should be carrying tracts with them everywhere they go and handing them out, leaving them for other to find as well. The Good News of what Christ has done for us is such glorious news for the world and unbelievers are dying and heading for hell every moment. Charles Spurgeon taught that and had an insatiable desire to play his part. Praise the Lord

I love Spurgeon's sermons I think hearing them in person would have had an even more powerful effect. The ones I listen to here on youtube usually have one of two guy's I typically hear reading them and they aren't even English. Just seems to have a more authentic effect hearing the guy they used in this doc. Anyone know where I could find what I'ma talking about? Also that story around 1:40:00 or so reminded me of something I realized after being born again of how we lift up great men of God to often, when they are just like us, the fathers children, and that the message is always from God and sometimes it's for the one delivering it too. God bless you all!!!!!!!

It never was his desire to be in the public eye, only for doing the will of the Lord Jesus Christ, I believe this is why the Lord used him so mightly, just like Moses who did not want to do that, but God kept telling him , He would work through him to bring His people out of bondage in Egypt, where they had been for 400 years. And Moses done mighty works for God.
