So great to see these cars being driven at the limit - as they were intended to be!

I could stare at those cars for hours. GT40 are beatiful and raw at the same time. Just 100% Le Mans Racer.

I have been a GM man all my life, had several Corvettes, Big Block Chevelles, Big Block Camaros (2), this Ford GT40 has caused me to stray. Gorgeous cars, purpose-built and how it's filled that purpose. I've got to have one.

To this day I do not understand the Chev/ Ford thing or in Australia Holden/ Ford. I grew up loving Ferrari but I would gladly have a Lambo or a Masserati. Great cars are great no matter where they were built. I have two Fords a 1960 F100 and a 2000 XR6 ute I would have no problem driving an El Camino and an Apache.

@@simeonorive145 I guess then you don't understand the Holden/Ford rivalry that started back in the late 60s and carried on in Australian Touring Car Championship through the 70's, 80's, 90's and 2000's....

Goodwood Circuit must be one of the most underrated racing circuit in the world... Yes, it's quite flat, but brutally flowing. Actually more flowing than any Spa, any Suzuka, any Bathurst, it's almost like a short and flat Nordschleife. I am in love with those very small twists in the middle of the "straights" and how the shape of the corners are very irregular.

I'm a retired civil engineer while I agree the determining factor is transfering that power to the ground it worked exceptional in 1966-1969 I don't see a increase of speed or of time in the last 30+ yrs to the the late 60s I think FORD engineering was so far ahead of its time creating this auto extreme phenomenon Think of it this way the SR-71 broke records that 2day decades later can't achieve this analogy is basically this same here

They had to run on period correct tires (bias ply, in this case), and the tires had to use a certain rubber compound.

Question? Could a 1966-1967 FACTORY RACE GT-40 just like it was set up in those year with 427 have a good chance to win say 2018 Le Mans

Unfortunately I don't think all the power in the world would make up for '60s suspension versus modern. And as you can see, these cars are semi drifting, whereas modern ones have lots of downforce going on, and grip like stuff to a blanket.

They couldn't compete at Le Mans, but these cars are still plenty fast enough to thrash most cars at a track day.
