Even better than back in the days. Never in the 60's did so many GT40's existed to compete. Thank heaven for replicas.

That would be funny if they were all Ford GT40's........ there are a few don't get me wrong but most are Hi-tec Gt40's (Superformance continuation cars). ;)

really glad to see this cars still racing, rather remarkable. But damn, I prayed through all the video for them not to crash.

GT40s are spectacular race cars always have been and always will be.

Just picked up my jaw of the floor a grid full of some of the really expensive gt40 s fantastic to see that used for the purpose of the design was to be raced with loads in collections,, best type of racing glad I subscribed 😁😁❤️❤️☘️☘️☘️from Northern Ireland greatly appreciated thank you for the video

I think some of the owners still race the original cars. So while some of those were recreations of the original cars, the others were originals themselves.

Real or replica is commonly discussed in these videos. The fact is that not all cars at the Goodwood Festival are original. A case in point is the Ben Shuckburg replica/completion of the Cunningham C4R. This car was raced in 2014. It was built on an incomplete Cunningham chassis which was never finished in the 1950s. The car was granted FIA HTP papers. So, there is some gray area here. There are certainly no fiberglass Cobras with Chevrolet engines there. How many original parts are needed to build an "original"? A chassis? An engine? Some damaged body panels? In short, to claim "all", "never", "only" confuses the issue. There are many levels of historical originality seen here.

Guess you mean Goodwood Revival. Yes kit cars or other reproductions are definately out as the races are for Pre 1967 Historic Racing Vehicles -- by invitation from the promoter, Goodwood Road Racing Company Ltd. The cars have to possess a FIA Historic Technical Passport -- unless agreed otherwise by the promoter. A clause that leaves the door open to cars (and motorcycles) that are deemed to have merit.

@@peterd8525 I mean they don't even try to hide it......... When the world knows there were six Shelby Daytona's built and they are all blue it's a bit in your face watching 'other' Daytona's race. JD classics have recently sold one of the Gt40's seem racing above, they used it in historic hill climbs and the Goodwood members meet etc and that was a Superformance built in 2016. Go figure..........

These are all real, historic GT40's. Goodwood is ... above all else, about history. ONLY historic cars can race at Goodwood. Replica's and kit cars are never acceptable, although kit cars that are HISTORICALLY evident _and_ in period would be able to qualify. There were hundreds of GT40's made in the 60's, not just race cars either, they manufactured and sold road going versions and these would, suitably modified with in period historical race parts, be valid and acceptable sources to build a racing GT40. It's a fair bet that every single one of these cars is a fully restrored/rebuilt example. From the 60's, not a modern copy, not at all. They even have to race on modern made historical racing tires.

Btw not 100's of Gt40's built in the 60's, thats a hundred cars total that came out of the John Wyer Fav facility in Slough (it's well documented) i belive the number is 112 60's Gt40's total including road cars.

Why do they allow continuation cars to race with the 60's cars?? i know many don't notice the diffrence but seems odd to expect some one in a multimillion pound car to take the same risks as some on in a couple of hundred k car??

Well First On Race Day when it’s an only Ford field otherwise it’s more like Fix Or Repair Daily in this context. Still bloody cool races though.

Great to see the drivers aren't afraid to flog the cars like they're supposed to, but also drive with respect. Imagine if one of these works of art were lost to posterity because some twat desperately had to win a friendly race that doesn't count for anything..

Not as much as you might think......... How much is a Superformance? because thats what most of them are. They are continuation cars!! JD Classics built a car in 2016 just for this event and it's currently for sale if you search SIMON DRABBLE cars GT40/P2262

Too bad those beautiful sounding bundle of snakes exhaust is muffled. One of the best sounding race cars of all time unmuffled.

When you talk about shelby ac cobras, corbra daytonas and GT40s you can call them continuation cars. They are already exempted from the term 'kit car'. They manufactured just enough of these cars to pass homologation and they were discontinued right after, people can manufacture them, build them yourselves if you could.

70% are not Ford, they are Hi-tec continuation cars. The best example of this is the Shelby daytona's, next time you watch Goodwood just remember that Shelby built six Daytona's and they were all blue.
