Max Martin didn’t work on every song on the album, and let’s be honest… yes and is the worst track on the album

It definitely has 3, one of which is a timbaland rip and the rest were basic 80s synths that he already did with the weeknd and robyn. We’ve heard it all before.

Janet Jackson is the queen of interludes, nobody still mentions that. The janet had 13 songs and 14 interludes

In terms of the word “Pop” I think it started as a term to describe POPular music but I think in today’s terms, the word has evolved into becoming a genre of its own. The average listener will describe a song as “pop” not because it’s popular but because that popular sound has become so engrained into music that it’s become a genre

I actually think it's the opposite. When you think of the Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, Britney Spears.. you think of Pop. When you think of Travis Scott, The Weeknd, Kanye West, Cardi B, you wouldn't initially think Pop is their "genre"... and yet they have been dominating the Pop Charts because Hip Hop has been the most popular genre globally for the last 10 years, which is why it's so infused into your "pop artist's" music (Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, Justin Bieber etc) ... Pop definitely used to be it's own genre, kinda like a cheesy blend of whatever was hot formulaically designed to sell records. Max Martin said when he was creating NSYNC/Britney records he was trying to do what the RnB producers were doing in the 00s.

Omg. I love this video. All so true. Pop is popular. Anything popular. Yes more effort. Music is so boring now. All the same. Who new is posing music? Beyonce is but she been here for 20 years. Who is the new star? Nirvana vzz as me in and flip all the rock music and made a new form. Who is going to flip music today?

Pop music is literally whatever is popular at the time. In the 2000s, Pop was heavily RnB & Pop Rock influenced.. then in 2009 it started becoming electronic as EDM blew up... by 2015 it moved into the realm of Trappier Hip Hop... and now it's moving into Country. Whenever a random underground artist blows up, and has a fair amount of consistent success, you can bet the labels are going to get their artists on that wave. The difference between then and now is the Internet. You see it with fashion, everyone is blending styles together from everywhere. It's why we've had heavy Hip Hop records, Disco 80s records, and Country records all in the top 10 pop charts at the same time. Everyone is being represented. Pop is no longer it's own "genre" that is gatekeeped by Major Labels.

So so sick of trap beats, ugh. When will these go away? I also agree about short songs. I saw another video on how songs keep getting shorter and shorter every year. What's next, 30 second songs? Yikes! Lastly, yes, we need artists who can be legends again. There will always be one hit wonders and some of them great, but I'm tired of so many 15 second of fame artists that social media is producing. Sadly though, records companies aren't as invested in making a true artist nowadays because of the way the industry is going.

Absolutely and also the problem is that these one hit wonders aren't going away anymore with social media, they get a platform and a big one over other talented creatives.

Complaining about shorter songs is inconsistent with saying that interludes/outtros/intros are useless and that you need a 'no-skips' album. You say consumers don't have the attention span of a gold fish, but then, you say that you don't want interludes because you skip them and don't care about what the artists want to say in them. I personally enjoy interludes, it adds a layer of complexity to the album and allows you to enjoy the way the artist meant for you to do it. The interlude is generally as good as the artist's vision. As for the songs' lengths, it's a cycle. Songs used to be very short in the 30-40s, then got longer and longer until we reached the 80s where Michael Jackson started having 40-second intros to his songs. Now, the songs are getting shorter because of TikTok, and it's working. Someday in the future, songs will get longer again because of a trend or influential artist.

I think pop is definitely a genre itself. If not then what do u call dua lipa’s music for example. Since pop isn’t a genre what’s her music labeled as? If a metal song goes #1. It’s just a popular metal song lol.
