I loved this movie

The opening Santa Poco scene is beautifully shot and really sets the plot in motion early! But I understand why it was cut. This is supposed to be a comedy and here they are starting off with terrorists! Nothing funny there. I am glad they recovered the scene. I wish Kinnison's scene had been found though. He was a great treasure!

It's fun seeing these deleted scenes, but I totally understand why John Landis and Co. wanted to delete them. Though it is too bad not all the footage was recovered.

At 17;01 I was an extra washing a red car ,I was an Antenna Man who was paid to remove all of the TV Antennas on the houses before the film was made and then replace with new ones ,They asked me to hang around so I did .An agent asked me to work for her as an extra in other movies I said no I think I should have said yes because it was great fun.

Being an extra is only 'fun' for a very short time. Then it's a drag. Most of your time is spent sitting around and waiting. If the scenes you are in are outside you can wait for hours in blazing hot or freezing cold weather for something that takes five minutes to shoot.

We need a Snyder cut version of this movie.

By the 80s it was well known that immortal performances were lost forever in trashed film and tapes, 50s, 60s, etc etc. How did the Kinison thing get trashed??.

Deleted scenes were still getting trashed right up to the conversion to mostly digital. There is a difference between losing performances that actually aired on TV or in movies and losing what was not good enough for the final cut to begin with. Once the movie was a flop, they were not going to save anything for any sort of special release. Especially since this came out at a time when people didn't OWN movies. They were still ridiculously expensive at like $80 for a VHS. (Which would not have any extras.)

So, Fran Dresher evidently did not yet even have a speaking part (as Miss Renee) before she was "deleted" from the movie...

There was more of here scenes lost, so I imagine she did have some talking scenes. I wonder if it was a bit like Singing in the Rain where the voice of the female co-star in the silent film would not have been as suitable for a talkie?

I think all of these should have been included. When I saw the movie as a kid, it felt like something was missing from the beginning of the movie; it felt a little rushed. These scenes set the movie up better.

Believe it or not, John Landis and the editor of this movie know more about what works for a movie than you. That was intolerably long. And no one went to Three Amigos just to wait several minutes to see Steve Martin, Chevy Chase and Martin Short. If morons on KZread comments made movies, they would all be 3 hours long with a whole bunch of needless shit.

From what I read up, that footage is missing.

Just saw the movie for the firat time a couple of months ago... It's got good funny moments throughout, but overall... It wasn't as good as I had expected...after all the buzz I've been hearing about it. I did feel like the movie feels.. "Lacking". This explains a lot. And I do think they shouldn't've deleted those scenes. They might add some more funniness to the whole movie, even not by much....

They had to have the three stars st the opening yhese scenes make the film look like pute drama not comedy
