We've had some great archery elk hunting days this week, but this... THIS is the day we've been waiting for. After a glassing session and breakfast on a ridge in the morning, we bedded the herd that busted out last night. They were about 2 miles away across some challenging terrain, but we were fortunate to be able to pick our way through some cliffs and stalk into close range of a bedded 6-point bull on the fringe of the herd. That's when the rodeo started.
We were on this herd for hours, making our moves and countering theirs. There were three really nice bulls; A young 6-point, a mature 6-point, and a really big 6-point. We had multiple close encounters with them and the rest of the herd, and ran out of water with hours left in the day while we were miles from camp. It was one hell of an adventure - You don't wanna miss this one!
