Neil Kumar These directors (and actors, actresses) do not come together because of him. They come to sit together for an hour, because it's The Hollwood Reporter, promotion for the movie, Oscar campaign time. It has nothing to do with the actual reporter guy. Now if he was a member of HFPA, that would be kinda different. :)

And when I was saying American, I meant these people profit and work within the US film industry, they get nominated for Oscars, they're participants, citizens and well known icons of America cinema. That's what I mean. But In Mel's case, he is an American, both literally because he was born in America, but he also participates and has gained a massive celebrity status from his time in American films.

I loved the movie "The Doors".... its arguably Val Kilmer's best performance... and now to Snowden..... consistency is a virtue that isn't common in most professions, esp in showbiz. So personally, I'm in awe of the ones who've had a long run and have made quality movies, done quality work for the most part.

Anybody artistic minded, this is pure gold. Addictive. Let me give advice to any young or older person who is artistic minded and has an artistic dream (or dreams)- go for it full boar and never settle for a “regular 9 to 5”. Dedicate time to your passion everyday and something will eventually break for you. You do NOT want to end up 48 one day working in a factory hating life and only being bitter when you watch things like this because you never truly attempted your dreams. Even now, it’s amazing listening to these greats talk about the little things. Sometimes it’s the little info they give that causes someone to say “hey that’s just like me!”. From that the next thought should be “if they tried and succeeded maybe I can too”. This was very inspirational.

Because he "cared" so much he had to use real native languages, but he ignored getting any of the actual history correct, you can read about it, it's pretty brutal, and I loved it also I was just young and didn't know it butchered the history worse than a few of his other historical films even.

@@kevin1049 Art can be difficult. Denzel is not a gifted director. He is typically the smartest guy in the room because he stays grounded, he doesn't lose perspective, but here, he is right in the sense that making a movie is nothing like going to war or working as a garbage man, but he is talking to directors who have made wonderful movies... when he hasn't. His perspective is biased. He is a giftrd actor who has made a couple of forgettable movies as a director, movies that could not stand next to La La Land or Braveheart in technical difficulty (aka impossible logistics to get it real and cast the spell)
