Glorious Roger Allam. The great one of our time.
This was really good. I didn't think about how humorous i could be, but Allam played it to perfection.
Roger Allam absolutely steals every scene of the Globe's Henriad. Incredible
This should be titled "Falstaffs Honour." This Falstaff is wonderful.
I saw this performance at the Globe. Hands down the best version of Henry IV I've ever seen. I cannot wait to buy the DVD
The greatest Falstaff. I know that sounds like hyperbole, but Roger Allam gave a Pitch Perfect Performance. Not quite a buffoon, but very silly, intelligent to fault, but always lovable. A definitve performance imo

Pity there's no documentation of Ralph Richardson's account. That was supposed to have been truly legendary.
That’s bloody Peter Mannion!
The greatest Falstaff I have ever seen.Performance of genius.
was this guy the greatest Falstaff ever played?

Yes, according to Ian McKellen
My favourite performance of this soliloquy.
This was the most brilliant version EVER
I love Allam - many thanks for download
He’s up there with Orson Wells’ version.

Thanks so much! I hope you guys release this on DVD :)
He's amazing :)
if they ever do an Orson Welles biopic, Roger Allam should play the part.
I feel "honored" to have found this!
The DVD's of this and Part 2 have just been released - and they are superb. Far better than the BBC's recent Hollow Crown productions. I studied these plays (a long time ago) in school, and I hated them. The Globe (and Roger Allam in particular) has made me love them.

Excuse the belated reply 😏 The BBC are somewhat restrained by the format of television. Whereas the whole point of the Globe is authenticity to the source and the scene of 16th century theatre.
One of my classes is putting in Henry the IV and I play Falstaff! This really helps me learn how to pronounce my lines properly!
For me..... Yes!
"Live",not filmed, this gentleman portrays "Falstaff"to perfection, word, script, perfect,I had the "honour"to have watched him at the Globe also, better than Rylance,I dare say..(but then,he who bites the hand that feeds him...)
Oh Rog ......... 🥰
Mr o donnell hello
2023 anyone?
richard tarlton esque!!!
I like Roger, but I think I prefer Simon Russel-Beale's Falstaff. I wish I could see a full unredacted performance from Russel-Beale.
So much is just scutcheon Yet much trouble me..
Allam is a genius. Parker is a nob.
No, Orson Welles, Chimes at Midnight

Absolutely!
Then he plays dead and pretends that he killed Hotspur. What a contemptible coward. But we love the fat rogue all the same 😂
I have to say, Allam is far better in this role than Simon Russell Beale.
I saw this at the globe great cast, only let down by Prince Hal,just not believable spoilt it for me
