The character of Falstaff is a boast by the author that this is the future and here is nothing we can do it about it. In fact not only will we do nothing to stop it we will do everything to sustain it until it destroys our way of life. And it happened. We celebrate this hypocrite because he is fun and Falstaff isn't laughing with us he is laughing at us and he hasn't stopped.
