Thomson TRC-9200 military radio
Today we have a French radio with Spanish menus. This is a VHF radio that covers the low VHF portion from 30 to 87.975MHz. Power is 0.5W, 5W and 10W in emergency mode (this mode may damage the radio).
This radio looks like it has seen some action. However I thought I could give her a chance. It was untested and the look was really bad. However I took the plunge and decided to go for it. After all we know this green radios inside usually are in pristine condition.
The radio arrived with no back up battery so all keys and frequencies were deleted so it is demilitarized.
I tried to enhance it a little bit, but I decided to keep the original green despite it has seen better days.
I am still learning how to use it. I hope I can find a manual soon.

This is a lot more modern than all the military radios I ever had 😅 I actually love getting stuff in that king of condition if it's cheap. Cleaning and restoring is always satisfying, and if you fail and it ends in the parts bins it's not a big loss.

Yes! If we’d wanted a pristine radio we would be buying yaesu or Icom… and the putting a cloth over them so they don’t get scratches 😝 With modern radios the problem is that if there is problem with any module or any it is really difficult to get it repaired. With old stuff it is less risky. I like old military equipment too.
