Thomson TRC-3400 vs commercial radios

How does a military radio perform agains a commercial radio? Well in this video I try to compare a Yaesu FT-897 and a Icom IC-7200. Both radios are very well know and in fact I think they bothhave a militarish look don't you think?
I used 50% mic gain and compression on the commercial radios side and 20W.
What do you think? Today conditions were ok, I think this would be more clear of the frequency were more closed or busy.

Can you compare reception of a weak station between all three in another video?
only thing I could add, try to find a receiver in ground wave range, eliminate the ionosphere
Yaesu had a good modulation, no artifacts. Icom was somehow disappointing. The TRC had the typical milspec modulation you would axpect from such a radio, clear voice, no unneeded speech spectrum was transmitted.

Yes! I think the Icom could be improved somehow fiddling either with compression or mic gain. But Yaesu just works
are you verifying the output power on a wattmeter?
Basically no difference between all of them.

Now we now 😝 I think if conditions were worse or longer distances compression and voice processing is a game changer… maybe this was too easy for them
Why didn't they take a picture of the frequency spectrum when the military aircraft called at the end? Thank you.

Sorry, the frequency of the spectrum was not centered. However the point was in audio. I would love to have an S-meter on that receiver to compare. Other than that, the spectrum is not big deal to do comparisons I think
