It's the oldest trick in any politician's book - "expose" something bad, blame it on the other politician, and promise they will fix it because they are "good". Yet we have been falling for this kind of scam for hundreds of years and still, people fall for it.

It's funny that he made a career exposing these corporations despite all of the info is available to the public kinda shows how lazy a lot of people have become when it comes to research. I don't want to sound like a boomer, but people nowadays don't think for themselves and because the education system is so fucked they *need* to rely on people who have more free time and energy to do all of that type of research. In a world were people, especially Americans, are sick and tired of being exploited by billionaires who take advantage of the system, they do nothing to stop it nor try to fix it because they feel that no matter how hard they try, they're efforts are gonna get fucked over by the next guy and the cycle never ends. Jake Tran knows this. He knows his fanbase are gullible. He knows they're easy to get swayed to his side. And as a result, he exploited them by giving them shitty apps that 'supposedly' gives people tips on how to make money fast. By going after shady corporations, he's learning how to be shady himself. He's not Edward Snowden. He's not even a renown journalist. He's a manipulative piece of shit who goes after vulnerable people thinking he's on their side, but in reality all Jake will ever see them as is a quick paycheck.

But if they were solely dedicated to hustling and getting rich and their family coming second and suffering for it, then yeah those labels may apply. I mean technically, a corporation is simply a group of people or other entities that act as one entity legally, i.e. a brand like Amazon. An honest mom and pop shop could be a corporation and I would consider them a friend, whereas some lone grifter I would not consider my friend. There are also sole proprietorships in which a business is wholly owned by and is essentially one individual, which can be better or worse than a corporation. I could go on with examples but it is unfortunate how oversimplified or wrong that the average person or KZread commenter is about various topics. I don't agree with it, but what I've come to accept is that I have no control over it. Jake Tran obviously can't get rich at my expense, because he has no appeal to me. He succeeds because he is on some level giving people what they want, or he would fail. So being angry at Tran is equivalent to being angry at a large demographic of people that I have to accept are there -- and trust me if you look at the state of the world, there are a lot of terrible mindsets and ideologies out there. I don't have the time, nor the energy to worry about any of them, only to be knowledgeable enough about them to figure out how to avoid them and which are a direct threat. If I'm super angry just because someone got rich by unscrupulous means that didn't affect me personally than I've probably got some issues like envy, or jealous in my subconscious that I need to check unless I'm that rare individual that gets angry over every injustice and not specific ones -- and I happen to know that I'm not.

This is a perfect example of when outrage spins out of control. At some point (ca. 2016) their terms of service allegedly read: “we do not control the quality of the Counselor Services and we do not determine whether any Counselor is qualified to provide any specific service as well as whether a Counselor is categorized correctly or matched correctly to you,..." This does not means that there are no qualified mental health professionals. It just means that betterhelp didn't have to check their credibility and the responsibility was passed on to the clients. It's also crappy but wording shows the difference between nuance and falsehoods. Today, the terms and conditions express that credibility is checked and to what extent with regard to the therapists in the US, UK & Australia. I use betterhelp and I'm pleased to share that I was thankfully assigned a real professional. People like to fault youtubers for making commissions with sponsorships like this but it's no different from any other company to me. As long as I'm made aware of the sponsorship, every decision is of my own volition not the influencer's. Besides, if my favourite KZreadrs hadn't continuously shoved betterhelp down my throat, I may have never really considered well needed therapy.
Makes me wonder what kind of upbringing he had to act so grasping of money.

It doesn't matter, he still makes millions of people aware of scandalous shit that should be common knowledge, but isn't; he's never gotten a dime from me, so I can't really feel "scammed".
I call it "Doom Porn." That didn't originate with me but it's fitting. It's all this scaremongering with no solutions (unless you call 'lining Jake's pockets with cash' a solution.) Fear makes people helpless, especially when you push it and push it (which is also lucrative in dollars and cents.) So who is the "Evil" one? A person playing on people's anger and fear and making money off it, disguising it as "eye opening information" while pushing scams... Or the Corporations that you already know are openly evil pricks? They both are. His reaction to Coffeezilla was the nail in the coffin for a lot of fans. I'd had it after he just had these "WOW, X is EVIL" Clickbait titles. We know Royal Dutch Shell are evil. In fact anyone who has an Internet connection and is inquisitive, already knows these companies and their scandals. My mate who is 6 years older than me dropped knowledge bombs on me when I was 17-18 and onwards, some of which included the stories of IGFarben, RDS, Monsanto, Bayer Pharmaceuticals and many other's.
For some reason I had this gut feeling a long time ago, before his content started going sideways. Something about the physionomy, the way he spoke etc. I got scammed by a friend with similar characteristics long ago and met just a handful of other people like that - each time they ended up doing something fishy, often without soiling their general reputation. Stereotyping might be bad but god damn is it useful lol PS I don't actually consider his sponsorships exploitative, at least not for the audience - it looks like he's screwing over the sponsors on purpose. Poorly researched videos about crucial topics by apathetic creators is the best potion to drive the world more and more insane. If you are a jake Tran fan - demand that he puts timed citation in his videos - and track his claims. Do this for every video. Don’t be a sucker.

I don't watch his content anymore but IIRC he always put a huge list under each video full of the sources he used both for the background footage and the information

@@cyberninjazero5659 hey there - I've watched his content for a while as well. A list of references is a good start. But the temptation to make things up - or to fudge facts - or exaggerate claims - or lean on speculation remains high. Because few people in the audience will go through such a long list of refs to double check for where every individiual claim comes from. Thats why putting timed citations under each claim - either by time stamping the video itself - or by putting time code in the reference document - should be the standard for creators. We as the audience must demand this. This is the standard for nonfiction writing - it should be the standard for nonfiction video work. You can see creators like Lemmino, HBomberGuy and others already do this.
I recognize the bullshit when he told ppl to follow him on Instagram to win 1000$ , that's when I noticed the flamboyance, then started blocking videos because he wanted you to pay for a youtube membership called "Join" to see his exclusive videos about corruption . The irony
His views seem to be down over 50% since 9 months ago and his growth has slowed to a crawl. Can't say I'm upset.
Superb work on this video, Kira. Really impressive. Nicely done. Keep it up.
I love 80k a year isn't enough for some people. God, I'd killed for that wage. I'd sell my soul in a cubicle 5 days a week. I work six days, some 12 hrs just to scrap the bottom of 50k.

It’s fuck all man, it’s not even close to enough. I have to pay for horses, so 80k is fuck all.
I stoped watching his content about a year ago because he started using narrators. I haven’t gone back either but as far as I can tell he went back to do his own voiceovers.
This video earned my subscription, thanks buddy

Most others can at least say they don't fit their own definition of evil.

That's because good and evil don't exist and are purely subjective 'categories' with give to traits we find praiseworthy or unredeemable. Typical examples of 'goodness' are often self-serving, typical examples of 'evil' are just people trying to understand why someone acted in a way they don't like. Both are often sourced from someone's life experiences and are maybe not 'justified' but there are nearly always reasons as to why they act in the way that they do. A basic example for something like Jake Tran's situation is being paranoid by your own mortality and wanting wealth early to make the most out of life. That's not inherently evil, and if it affects you that much, it can easily overpower how much you care about exploitation. The only people I would personally see as evil are pedophiles and sadists. While the same things could apply to these people, when you yourself personally start hurting people in extreme ways for no other reason than your own desires then that reaches inexcusable territory for me. Personally, I don't think Jake did much wrong. I fully believe that people need responsibility for themselves, and if you're smart enough to take advantage of others like this then good for you. He values wealth more than his own mortality and there can be various reasons for which. And, to be honest, unlike scammers who have a much more active and malicious means of exploitation, his seemed very tame. The funny thing is, almost everything Tran was criticized for doing, is corporate policy in like 90% of companies. The whole idea is to manipulate and exploit ignorant people into giving you as much money as possible. But it seems like when that corporate policy is tied to an individual outside of a corporate skeleton, it's no longer OK. I've never watched a single Jake Tran video by the way. Never even heard of him before. But I can't consider someone evil for doing what companies have been doing for decades. And many are far, far worse than he is.
